When the Thunderbolt strikes you, you see that you saw everything wrong. Seeing things properly (without Avidya) allows you to see what is "secret". Not because it is hidden on purpose, but because not seeing is the most literal meaning of Avidya (Ignorance)

Such clarity and wisdom from ancient world. For all humanity; never started any wars, damns no one, directs no will to power. Whether the story of Siddhartha's life and enlightenment is true or not, the work is written with a rare and superior mind. "May he who illuminated this, illuminate me."

Translations make it harder for American... As each character has its own meanings in Chinese and helped a lot in applying to almost all the situations, which means even you don't study Chinese Buddhism you can directly use any scripture as encyclopedia for your living if you understand Chinese. 😅

Great video but the "secrecy is a marketing tactic" theory was cringe. Vajrayana was widely known, yes, but practicing it was prohibited until someone was qualified and underwent the requisite initiations. It is in that sense that the tradition is "secret" or "esoteric". Also the proliferation of twilight language which is the buddhist way of saying code-speak renders the tantras incredibly difficult to interpret if one is estranged from the tradition behind them. My guess is that gurus are thus more emphasized in the vajrayana for that very reason.

Correct word is sutta not sutra...all the suttas are in pali nt sanskrit,..pali is mother of buddhist sanskrit which is evolved form pali after 5th AD and after 8th AD Brahmins ( hindus) picked and further evolved buddhist hybrid sanskrit into classical in Devnagri script...so people get confused abt sanskrit. Brahmins of india distroyed buddhism in india with the help of mughals they first distroyed all buddhist universities first.

I first heard the heart sutra summer of '95 thereabouts and i did not have the benefit of a ubiquitous internet or learned individuals walking me through the thing i'd just heard that gave me a gut reaction and the hairs on the back of the neck thing. As an aside how gorgeous is that copy you showed, leave it to the good people there to make just about anything look like an amulet unto itself if they wanna. ☸ 📿
