    very decisive corner sacrifice, black had all the initiative after that, really was able to wittle down white's options via continuing to reduce mobility, clean winning sequence too. white made a good attempt at countering with a corner sacrifice of their own but that finish from black was just clinical.

    Yeah, went back to focusing on capturing the sides and started dominating again

  • @OthelloAcademy
    @OthelloAcademy14 күн бұрын

    That is because you may not have complete mastery over mobility (minimisation still requires key disc or position control otherwise you may get wiped out), but capturing sides could also be controlling mobility. The differences can be a bit nuanced and subjected to players skill. If edge play works for you better, definitely use edge play. Dominate could be subjective in terms of levels though. The experimentation in different approaches should be an ongoing procesd for everyone, so whatever works for you :)

  • @OthelloAcademy
    @OthelloAcademyАй бұрын

    Hello, thanks for supporting my channel. I definitely would not say my playing style is the best style there is. My advice would be for you to learn some basic openings, fundamental strategies like parity, opening and midgame centralization or edge play but the main objective of the game remains the same, it is to control your opponents mobility and to let them make forced moves so you can dictate play. At that age, i would say you would have some time to experiment and play with different styles and explore what works for you. But if you want results fast, copying top players openings could work.

    There is nothing wrong with what you may be doing per se. I think you just need more experience playing the game, or watching experts play, or specialising in some openings to get some boost in results. At the same time, don't forget others are also improving too, so it's easy to feel left behind even when you are also improving.

    Unfortunately this board has been out of production since 2006. For an identical one, you would need to buy it through secondary sellers or a similar one from Japan Othello Association. The one that Japan Othello Association sells last I saw was 50 to 55 thousand Japanese yen and that is not including shipping costs which usually is also quite high for a big heavy board.
