Why would anyone think they are actually pyramids, covered with grass after centuries? Because where there is a design there is a designer. The same with creation. Where there is a design there is a designer. It is most likely that men made these pyramids. When God makes things He isn't so consistent -- He's much more complex in His creation. God may make a one-of object that is symmetrical, but over 1700? All in one place? No, these are made by men a few hundred or a couple of thousand years ago.

Whether they are natural or Man made, I am very interested to find out what other possible ancient structures, pre-flood, that may exist in the Philippines. I am an explorer, if not, physically, at least mentally :-). Thank you for this. I think there’s still a chance that one of them at least could be a pyramid. LiDAR should be applied. Nineveh was the capital of Assyria. The Assyrians and the Israelites were enemies. Historically, the Assyrians were the most barbaric and nasty enemies that Israel had. Eventually, it would be none other than Assyria that would destroy the northern Kingdom of Israel. Jonah had good reason to be fearful of and hate the Ninevite people. This is why he didn't want to take the prophetic message to them. I want to be respectful to the narrator, but I also want to look at the story of Jonah as logically as I can. In every argument each side desires to prove its point, and I am no different. However, I think “God Culture” slips into the trap of being a little disingenuous with their arguments at times(not by intention, I’m sure) and presents reasoning that while not entirely wrong could stand some tweaking. Please look at this as constructive criticism and not condemning or judging. By and large I’m enjoying these videos and the information challenges the mind to re-examine long held beliefs that may not be based on the “best” information. I’m new the channel and this new perspective, so I am learning. I don’t profess to know everything and don’t want to come across as arrogant, even though I probably am. I grew up in a second world country and spent my days as a youth hunting in the tropical jungles and fishing one of the largest rivers in the world. I have chiseled and carved out canoes from cedar logs, patched wooden hulls, re-caulked and chinked planks and tarred joints of every kind of wooden-hulled boat from the smallest canoes to large river-going passenger launches. Being a boating buff and a Portuguese speaker I have been employed to do translational work for international business people and once, a ship historian. I have translated a ship history book from a very early, (c. 1400-1500) Portuguese writer, so I am more than casually familiar with old wooden-hulled boats. My guess is that the “ships of Tarshish” were fairly large “merchant” ships that were known as, and therefore called, “ships of Tarshish”, because they were designed and built specifically for the purpose of doing business with the area of Tarshish. If Tarshish and Ophir were in the same area, there is a good possibility that the timber to build many of the ships also came from Tarshish, hence another reason they were called, “ships of Tarshish. So, scholars may be referring to wood from Tarshish and not actually saying that Tarshish is a kind of wood. (Just speculation) Jonah was fleeing from God as he was in rebellion against God. He wasn’t necessarily fleeing to Tarshish because he wanted to go to a Godly place. Remember, he was running away from God. He was a prodigal Prophet at this point. Prodigals don’t usually try to find a Godly place to hang out. They usually try to get as far away from Godliness as possible. He wanted to get as far away from God’s call on his life as he could get. That was his purpose in going to Tarshish. (Just a point of logic) As the ship left Joppa, modern day Tel Aviv, the ship would have taken off to the west across the “Medi”, either taking a southerly track or a northerly track and would have tried to stay within sight of land, as this was common voyaging practice in that day. This would have kept them within 10 miles of the shoreline, maybe closer. They would, most likely, stop at major ports along the way to pick up fresh supplies, food, passengers and trade goods. This would be a time to make repairs to their vessel, as rigging and sails always needed fixing. On a good day with fair winds, a large merchant vessel could average 4- 5 knots per hour, and if sailing during the day only, could average 40 - 60 n/miles/day. More n/miles could be gained if they continued to sail at night. The winds however, are never consistent or predictable, so on days where you had no wind or little wind, the ship’s rowers would earn their keep. The most important job for the rowers however, was to keep the ship pointed in an ideal direction during storms. If possible you wanted to get into a port or harbor to ride out the storm, but if not, the rower’s job was to keep the ship angled properly so the ship did not capsize or take on water as a result of being swamped by overtaking waves. You also, did not want to get caught deep in a trough, sitting sideways with no wind in your sails; a condition known as being “pooped out” or “dead in the water”. I’ll not go into any more sailing tactics or techniques. Now Jonah 1:1 says, “Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. The passage would indicate that Jonah went down into the recesses of the hull immediately, or soon after boarding the ship. This is consistent with someone who knows they are doing wrong and don’t want to be discovered. My guess is from the passage, that the storm came up fairly quickly after setting sail. We know the account of the storm and how one of the ship’s officials discovers Jonah sleeping down in the hull and they ask him what they must do to live. Verse 11 says, “Then said they unto him(Jonah), What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.” Notice that Jonah did not confess his sin to God nor repent. He could have said, “Take me to shore and I’ll obey God”. If he had I’m sure the storm would have ceased. But he asked to be thrown overboard. Why? Why did Jonah prefer to die than take the message of impending judgement to Ninevah? Remember that the Jews hated the Assyrians. Ninevah was the capital of Assyria. The Assyrians were brutal and had plagued Israel for years, having captivated them on at least one occasion. There was no love lost between Israel and the Ninevites, so Jonah, as a good Israelite, was not about to take the message of repentance to them and risk having them repent and God save them. Oh no, that would not do, so he says, “Throw me overboard.” He is really saying, "I’d rather die than see them saved". He reiterated this under the vine when he was complaining to the Lord, saying, “I knew that you were a merciful God, and YOU desired to save them.” I think they were not very far from their starting point when Jonah got tossed into the drink and was swallowed by the “great fish”. I think Jonah had three days to talk with God and think about his attitude while in the fish’s belly and it seems most logical that he was thrown up on a beach somewhere on the Medi’s Lebanon or Syrian coastline, when prompted by God to do so. The verses that follow are interesting and give us clues as to how to interpret them. We need to use good English grammar rules. Jonah 3: 1 - And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. 3So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great(referring to its size) "city of three days' journey". 4And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. “of three days' journey” is to the best of my knowledge a reference to the length of time it took an ordinary man to walk “around it” or “through it”. I think in Jonah’s case it meant that Ninevah was of such great size that it was a 3 day’s journey to go “through the city”. In the book of “Yashar”, it says, specifically, that the tower of Babel was a "three day’s walk" around its "circumference". Again, we see the same English construction, using an average man’s walking pace, to describe how large Babel was. So, this is definitely not referring to how far it was from where Jonah started his trip, but a reference to how “exceedingly great” or large the city was. This was a common way to express the size of a city in general terms that everyone could understand. And, coming right after “exceeding great”, which is a descriptor, we have the phrase “of a three day’s journey”, which further amplifies or illustrates just how “large” the city was. This phrase modifies “great”, not the distance of the trip from Jonah’s starting point. English grammar is very important. I trust this is helpful to everyone. Verse 4 says, "And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey". Here is another example of this same usage of the phrase to express how far into the city Jonah walked before he started preaching his message. He went “into the city a day’s journey”, or a day’s walk. So, he went about 1/3 of the way through the city. (A large city indeed!) We immediately are tempted to think, Man, I can walk 3 m/p/h, so in 10 hours I could go 30 miles. So, the city was 90 miles across? No, not really. (Consider this, that with narrow streets and people and cattle jamming the streets, you couldn’t walk very fast, so progress was going to be very slow making one’s way through the city.) Why would anyone think they are actually pyramids, covered with grass after centuries? Because where there is a design there is a designer. The same with creation. Where there is a design there is a designer. It is most likely that men made these pyramids. When God makes things He isn't so consistent -- He's much more complex in His creation. Nineveh was the capital of Assyria. The Assyrians and the Israelites were enemies. Historically, the Assyrians were the most barbaric and nasty enemies that Israel had. Eventually, it would be none other than Assyria that would destroy the northern Kingdom of Israel. Jonah had good reason to be fearful of and hate the Ninevite people. This is why he didn't want to take the prophetic message to them. I want to be respectful to the narrator, but I also want to look at the story of Jonah as logically as I can. In every argument each side desires to prove its point, and I am no different. However, I think “God Culture” slips into the trap of being a little disingenuous with their arguments at times(not by intention, I’m sure) and presents reasoning that while not entirely wrong could stand some tweaking. Please look at this as constructive criticism and not condemning or judging. By and large I’m enjoying these videos and the information challenges the mind to re-examine long held beliefs that may not be based on the “best” information. I’m new the channel and this new perspective, so I am learning. I don’t profess to know everything and don’t want to come across as arrogant, even though I probably am. I grew up in a second world country and spent my days as a youth hunting in the tropical jungles and fishing one of the largest rivers in the world. I have chiseled and carved out canoes from cedar logs, patched wooden hulls, re-caulked and chinked planks and tarred joints of every kind of wooden-hulled boat from the smallest canoes to large river-going passenger launches. Being a boating buff and a Portuguese speaker I have been employed to do translational work for international business people and once, a ship historian. I have translated a ship history book from a very early, (c. 1400-1500) Portuguese writer, so I am more than casually familiar with old wooden-hulled boats. My guess is that the “ships of Tarshish” were fairly large “merchant” ships that were known as, and therefore called, “ships of Tarshish”, because they were designed and built specifically for the purpose of doing business with the area of Tarshish. If Tarshish and Ophir were in the same area, there is a good possibility that the timber to build many of the ships also came from Tarshish, hence another reason they were called, “ships of Tarshish. So, scholars may be referring to wood from Tarshish and not actually saying that Tarshish is a kind of wood. (Just speculation) Jonah was fleeing from God as he was in rebellion against God. He wasn’t necessarily fleeing to Tarshish because he wanted to go to a Godly place. Remember, he was running away from God. He was a prodigal Prophet at this point. Prodigals don’t usually try to find a Godly place to hang out. They usually try to get as far away from Godliness as possible. He wanted to get as far away from God’s call on his life as he could get. That was his purpose in going to Tarshish. (Just a point of logic) As the ship left Joppa, modern day Tel Aviv, the ship would have taken off to the west across the “Medi”, either taking a southerly track or a northerly track and would have tried to stay within sight of land, as this was common voyaging practice in that day. This would have kept them within 10 miles of the shoreline, maybe closer. They would, most likely, stop at major ports along the way to pick up fresh supplies, food, passengers and trade goods. This would be a time to make repairs to their vessel, as rigging and sails always needed fixing. On a good day with fair winds, a large merchant vessel could average 4- 5 knots per hour, and if sailing during the day only, could average 40 - 60 n/miles/day. More n/miles could be gained if they continued to sail at night. The winds however, are never consistent or predictable, so on days where you had no wind or little wind, the ship’s rowers would earn their keep. The most important job for the rowers however, was to keep the ship pointed in an ideal direction during storms. If possible you wanted to get into a port or harbor to ride out the storm, but if not, the rower’s job was to keep the ship angled properly so the ship did not capsize or take on water as a result of being swamped by overtaking waves. You also, did not want to get caught deep in a trough, sitting sideways with no wind in your sails; a condition known as being “pooped out” or “dead in the water”. I’ll not go into any more sailing tactics or techniques. Now Jonah 1:1 says, “Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. The passage would indicate that Jonah went down into the recesses of the hull immediately, or soon after boarding the ship. This is consistent with someone who knows they are doing wrong and don’t want to be discovered. My guess is from the passage, that the storm came up fairly quickly after setting sail. We know the account of the storm and how one of the ship’s officials discovers Jonah sleeping down in the hull and they ask him what they must do to live. Verse 11 says, “Then said they unto him(Jonah), What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.” Notice that Jonah did not confess his sin to God nor repent. He could have said, “Take me to shore and I’ll obey God”. If he had I’m sure the storm would have ceased. But he asked to be thrown overboard. Why? Why did Jonah prefer to die than take the message of impending judgement to Ninevah? Remember that the Jews hated the Assyrians. Ninevah was the capital of Assyria. The Assyrians were brutal and had plagued Israel for years, having captivated them on at least one occasion. There was no love lost between Israel and the Ninevites, so Jonah, as a good Israelite, was not about to take the message of repentance to them and risk having them repent and God save them. Oh no, that would not do, so he says, “Throw me overboard.” He is really saying, "I’d rather die than see them saved". He reiterated this under the vine when he was complaining to the Lord, saying, “I knew that you were a merciful God, and YOU desired to save them.” I think they were not very far from their starting point when Jonah got tossed into the drink and was swallowed by the “great fish”. I think Jonah had three days to talk with God and think about his attitude while in the fish’s belly and it seems most logical that he was thrown up on a beach somewhere on the Medi’s Lebanon or Syrian coastline, when prompted by God to do so. The verses that follow are interesting and give us clues as to how to interpret them. We need to use good English grammar rules. Jonah 3: 1 - And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. 3So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great(referring to its size) "city of three days' journey". 4And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. “of three days' journey” is to the best of my knowledge a reference to the length of time it took an ordinary man to walk “around it” or “through it”. I think in Jonah’s case it meant that Ninevah was of such great size that it was a 3 day’s journey to go “through the city”. In the book of “Yashar”, it says, specifically, that the tower of Babel was a "three day’s walk" around its "circumference". Again, we see the same English construction, using an average man’s walking pace, to describe how large Babel was. So, this is definitely not referring to how far it was from where Jonah started his trip, but a reference to how “exceedingly great” or large the city was. This was a common way to express the size of a city in general terms that everyone could understand. And, coming right after “exceeding great”, which is a descriptor, we have the phrase “of a three day’s journey”, which further amplifies or illustrates just how “large” the city was. This phrase modifies “great”, not the distance of the trip from Jonah’s starting point. English grammar is very important. I trust this is helpful to everyone. Verse 4 says, "And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey". Here is another example of this same usage of the phrase to express how far into the city Jonah walked before he started preaching his message. He went “into the city a day’s journey”, or a day’s walk. So, he went about 1/3 of the way through the city. (A large city indeed!) We immediately are tempted to think, Man, I can walk 3 m/p/h, so in 10 hours I could go 30 miles. So, the city was 90 miles across? No, not really. (Consider this, that with narrow streets and people and cattle jamming the streets, you couldn’t walk very fast, so progress was going to be very slow making one’s way through the city.)
