Good show, guys! Carole Ann Ford, who played Susan Foreman is still alive. They’ve certainly mentioned her enough. Also, you might like to know that the 4th Doctor story, Pyramids of Mars, is available on Tubi for free. Well worth checking out. One last thing, they mentioned the Mara. This was an entity that the 5th Doctor had run-ins in two stories, Kinda and Snakedance.

Disappointing, for sure. Superheroes should have a super suit. And of course the Doctor is a super hero. They are making a mistake by not remembering that.

Ncuti texted his agent saying he'd like to play Doctor Who or Willy Wonka. Not knowing they were auditioning for Doctor Who, a week later he got an audition with RTD and got the job immediately. I think they slipped the song in for Ncuti. But I'd still like to think Willy Wonka could be a Time Lord (as is Mary Poppins).

I'll admit, I'm a longtime podcast listener, but I wanted to give the YT channel some love. As for Doctor Who, I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. They episodes won't make sense because the direction of the show isn't about narrative sense. It's a hodgepodge of social messaging. And that messaging finally lost me, after years and years of sticking with the show through thick and thin. I will probably only listen to ya'll and get the gist of the episodes. I enjoy your discussions more than the show at this point. As for the show itself, I think the stories are going to keep causing a bit of narrative confusion, because the story is not the priority unfortunately.

I similarly find the more kiddy stuff difficult to get on board with but that's always been the case with DW and it's worth it for the incredible episodes. Really enjoyed Devil's Chord (perplexed by the ending though) and Boom was FIRE!! RTD typically does more silly stuff early in a run and builds emotinoal tension and drama towards the finale so I'm really looking forward to the coming episodes and am enjoying myself :)

It definitely feels like the story has amped up a bit more with each episode. And if the previews are any indication "73 Yards" takes it even further. 😅

Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures are previous spin-offs, and I enjoyed both. Not as much as regular Doctor Who, but using Capt. Jack and Sarah Jane to build shows around, worked.

At :26 I believe it is an arm a with a claw for a hand like a Wrarth Warrior. I also believe Tennant's Doctor will die for Donna causing a regeneration. Hmmmm🤔? And Ncuti's Doctor's clothes don't change like Tennant's did when regenerating from Jodi's Doctor. Also I agree the sky is the same as Jodi's sky when she regenerated 😲Could it be the same place? The Toy Maker is also a Time Lord I think so maybe he is responsible for the Tennant Doctor returning to get to Donna. Maybe the reason for the 14th Doctors anger? Just found out (not sure if the source is legit) that this background with Ncuti's doctor is a fake and the real background would reveal too much. UGH

The sky behind Ncuti Gatwa reminds me of when Jodie was where all of the Doctors that have come before end up. Like, Ncuti knew he was supposed to be next but somehow ended up in the after -place.

The Celestial Toymaker appeared once in the classic series where he was a godlike being who taunted lesser beings by making them play his games. Even if you win, his realm is destroyed along with you, however since the Toymaker is immortal, he eventually reforms his realm and begins the process again. Novelisation of the lost episodes exist and he was like Q or some of the other Star Trek beings like Trelane who taunted "lesser beings." He was supposed to have made an reappearance in the Colin Baker story "The Nightmare fair." This story was one of the Doctor Who stories cancelled in the 80s due to a strike, which was unfortunately. Novelisation and audios have been done on the story and it really fleshed out the Toymaker's origins. We find out he pre dated the universe (so the Time Lords couldn't just erase him from history before he was born, since he is older than the universe). On entering our universe the Toymaker initially helped lesser beings using his powers, but then he grew bored he destroyed those he helped and now the only thing that amuses him is getting others to play his games. The expanded universe novels fleshed him out even more, suggesting he should be a Guardian just like the Black and White guardians. Not sure I particularly like that interpretation.

Is he the best? No. But he is the baddest. As a Whovian for the entire run of the show, I still believe Roger Delgado’s Master is the best. There was a certain mystery to his Master, a quality which is less evident these days. Despite similarities, every incarnation of this character is truly unique, each meddles in space and time but no two do so in quite the same way. How they differ is down to the way in which they are written, the manner in which they deliver their lines, their particular idiosyncrasies and costuming... to wit, I can not envision Anthony Ainley’s Master in Sacha Dhawan’s costume delivering lines spoken by Missy, yet they are the same character. Speaking of Missy, she is without a doubt the most bonkers of Masters whereas John Simm’s interpretation is both evil and oily but never quite as nuanced as Sacha’s. Performances of earlier Master incarnations were both heightened and hindered by costuming... who can ever forget Eric Robert’s performance in the 1996 movie? After having donned an ornate Time Lord ceremonial robe he betrays his state of mind and garb by saying “I always dress for the occasion” which is a line echoed in “The Power Of The Doctor” when Sacha says “Do you like the garb? I love the garb. Got to dress for the occasion.” Conversely, the Master as played by Peter Pratt and Geoffrey Beevers are weighed down by costuming, making their particular performances lean heavily on voice and body language. It is likewise a bit difficult to size up Derek Jacobi’s Master, given his limited time in the role on TV, however I will say that he is quite likable and chilling as the Master in any number of audio dramas by Big Finish Productions. Sacha Dhawan’s Master is to my mind the most believable in the part. You needn’t suspend your disbelief, he will do it for you.

I would expect the level of excitement to drop after David Tennants three specials as the 14th incarnation. Once Ncuti starts, it’ll reach 13th Doctor Jodie Whitacre levels. Factor in that Disney is the death to most anything anymore when you look at She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. They can throw billions at Doctor Who, but if the writing is bad and there is wokeness to it, it will die anyway. The question is will it be more woke under BBC or Disney!!!!!! I have been watching Doctor Who since 1976 starting with my iconic Doctor….. Tom Baker.

It's obvious that Tennant has been brought in to try to lure back the casual viewer and a large section of the fanbase who switched off during Whittaker's run. It's gone from 10 million viewers in Tennant''s day down to a little over 2 million for the latest outing. RTD and the BBC are hoping that the viewers returning for Tennant will stick around for Gatwa's run. I'm dubious myself. It smacks of desperation on the BBC's part.

Personally I don’t believe we’re seeing physically Tennants doctor or regen into Tennant, we already saw in flux Jodie’s Doctor sort of living through the other ones past. Could it be possible that Neil Patrick Harris’ character is fucking with Jodie’s perception of reality making them think they’re Tennants version, or they’re reliving Tennants past, explaining why donnas able to be there.

Bringing back Tennant to minimize the impact of the new doctor might be deliberate. The anti-Jodie hate started long before her first episode, and anti-Jodie sentiment never really recovered for part of the fanbase. Using Tennant to distract from the new doctor might be planned to avoid that.

  • @AlbertonBeastmaster

There's a lot of speculation given that we know very little about who David Tennant is playing... is it The Doctor? an Unbound Doctor? An impersonator? But RTD would not scupper his new Doctor. I have seen more buzz and positive publicity around Doctor Who in the last couple of months than has been around since 2017. He is hyping interest and preparing the groundwork for his new Doctor. I felt the Tennant - Smith regeneration went on for far too long. It got to the point where it felt like it was milked, but Eccelston - Tennant was just right. See, Doctor Who thrives on doing things differently; just look at Pertwee to Baker and Baker to Davison... with both of those there was an external agent in the regeneration. Why do the same thing over and over when you have this amazing broad format to play with? Oh, and teenage companions - Adric, Turlough, and maybe Nyssa.

Hi guys i have an opinion and this is nothing to do with race or anything, but i feel there are some roles like sherlock holmes and Doctor Who that should stay the same in the sense of male characters, there are just some parts thats just perfect for the male actor. The same for Ghost busters.. Nothing negative towards the female cast, it's just a classic and why change it? Hope i am not stepping on any toes but this is my opinion only because it's classics. Sherlock Holmes started 1892, Doctor Who started 1963. But i suppose i should welcome change hehe

RTD specifically stated the first episode he has written is going out in November for the 60th Anniversary. So while he could be lying or plans might've changed, I think it's a safe bet we'll be getting multiple specials in 2023, starting with the 60th and including but not limited to a Christmas special. My personal prediction is we'll get three specials starring David Tennant, the 60th, Christmas and New Year's and then we'll get series 14 with Ncuti Gatwa sometime in 2024.

  • @nigelstockley7011
    @nigelstockley70112 жыл бұрын

not quite no. RTD is "starting with the 60th anniversary and then season 14" is all thats been said. Nobody ever said "going out in November" although we all know the date of the 60th. you *could* interpret that announcement as the 60th anniversary will be celebrated in the YEAR of the 60th and not just the day. Therefore its quite possible that the 60th anniversary will indeed be a series of specials and not just one..... but STARTING on 1st Jan 2023 with a seasonal special to kick off the anniversary year and RTD's new tenure. The November 2023 date could be the grand culmination of all the specials leading into Ncuti Gatwa's appearance and episode 1 of season 14 (Ncuti's first proper episode) could well be Christmas Day 2023. RTD is a huge fan of the Christmas Day specials and Chris Chibnall was NOT. I fully expect in RTD's tenure we will see a return to the Christmas Day special.

It’s hardly a disservice to Whittaker but rather the natural evolution of the show. This is what always happens when a new Doctor is announced. Also I would suggest it’s very telling of the Chibnall era’s abysmal marketing/over-secrecy that people already know more about and are more excited for the 60th anniversary due next year over an episode coming out in a few months.

I'm sceptical about a festive special, but neither do I think we'll have to wait until Nov 2023. It just seems so early, though it could be actor schedule issues. Christmas lights don't normally go on until Dec in the UK, so if the special they're filming is set in Nov, it's unlikely to have Christmas lights.

I RDT is just doing what he has to do to save the show as live or like Jodie the Popularity of the series hasn’t been this bad Since 1989 . It it makes you feel any better the episodes from that time were also overlooked by many fans at the time , but over the years have been Reevaluated and revived the respect they deserve.

I mean what exactly has the BBC or anyone given for Jodie's finale, besides the trailer? Chibnall's secrecy policy has HURT his era BADLY. Stuff like set pictures help to build hype too, but there's been none of that for the Chibnall era. You can't blame people for paying more attention to the thing that's actually got content being published for it.
