New Mind

New Mind

For most of us, our average day is an experience unlike any other in human history. The world we interact with and engage with is a culmination of millennia of curiosity, probing and discovery. The story of how we got here, the layers of seeking and exploration; that are too often displaced as a triviality of life, is a massive part of the human story.

New Mind is a celebration of that journey; the telling of slivers of that human story. Each composition is a careful telling of a slice of our technological world, exploring not just the “how it works” but the evolution of the why - the series of historical events that made it this way.

I'm going to bet it took you a long time to narrate this like with a straight voice because I imagine you probably had quite a few giggles and cuts in there didn't you? It was just as hard for us listeners listening into this and not giggling and laughing 😂

A few extra seconds regarding "flame-front propagation" would have been more illustrative for ignition timing... possibly also pros/cons multi-cathode ("shadow") ..although ionization of Oxygen/Nitrogen mix vs. atomized Gasoline/oxygen/nitrogen would be a bit much.

Removal of lead reduced resistance to knock (sometimes incorrectly called detonation), not pre-ignition. Not the same thing.

1981 comes before 1910 ??Heavier low compression designs ?? Mate, I am not that far in... I wonder if there are going to be many more ?? Dyslexic by any chance ?? If so, I get it and job well done. If not, then I would say that it is pretty tacky .... and requires a little more attention....

As someone who saw mechanics clean the spark plug as first level of troubleshooting in a two stroke scooters of 90s, I always wondered why we never had to change them even after 100k km's in newer cars.. This explains it so well..

Sounds like any EV is going to be pushed on people instead of being a better replacement to gas powered vehicles. The more they mess with cars the more unreliable they get. That is going to come to an end when people have had enough of the meddling. EV's are never going to be a real thing. They just don't offer anything and they cost too much and are not going to last like a normal car. They are a rich man's toy and they will only last a little longer than than the owners virtue signaling lasts. They won't ever tell you why they got rid of it or how long before it ends up at the bottom of a land fill. Not that that much toxic waste would be allowed in one. They can't be melted down into new EV's. Long story short. Don't sell your stock in sparkplug companies just yet. They maybe around a while longer than you think. This whole video is suspect too since since the only possitive part was about EV's and not spark plugs. It makes me doubt the rest.

The system only builds voltage to what it needs to jump the gap. Gap too big, requires more voltage which may be harder on the spark plug and high tension wires. Modern systems can withstand/produce more voltage allowing a bigger gap. Coil on plug reduces the loss of energy or chance of deterioration of long high tension wires (with coil on plug the energy goes most of the way as low voltage higher current)

Good training video on spark pluG history and tech. Well done! I found the video of the electric car sitting on a very busy urban street with an extension cord running to a building across the busy sidewalk very hilarious!! And this is a solution?? To what?? Envision this - thousands of people running extension cords from their EV's to buildings across sidewalks because there aren't any charging stations anywhere nearby. Or each car needs a trailer following behind it with its' own "fuel" powered generator to recharge the car when not running!!! LOL Now add into that vision of being parked near the sidewalk, heavy rain and snow etc. and you have a modern disaster waiting to happen, a lot, by tripping hazards, electrocution hazards and others. Every ambulance chasing lawyer in the world would be ecstatic!! This country will never be able to afford the massive infrastructure growth and its' excessively high costs needed for a country full of EV's. I think the auto mfg's have already figured this out as massive numbers of EV's can't be sold and are sitting in rail yard lots just rusting Away because nobody wants them! BRAVO AMERICANS, WE'RE NOT NEARLY AS DUMB AS THE REST OF THE WORLD AND THE DEMONCRATS (JOE BIDEN/KAMI JAMI HARRIS) THINK WE ARE !!

Not a bad review, but you stopped too soon, and you’ve one major error, specifically if you’re considering automotive. Maximum in service voltage demand may never exceed 40kV. Neither the ceramics nor the coil insulation can sustain anything beyond this and typically a designer would try to limit normal demand voltages to around 25to 30kV for safety. Over 100kV, or even close to that figure is simply not possible with the ignition component geometry and dielectrics used today. It’s absolutely not possible with the cost and size constraints of the auto industry… and frankly, it isn’t needed. As for stopping too early, you said nothing of the systemic constraints and how to move past them. Overall though, you didn’t do too badly! Thanks.
