It is my hope that these videos are helpful and informative to those planning their own cruise. I enjoy sharing the joys (and realities) of cruising. Please join in and subscribe, comment, and participate in the Sails Away family. Thank you for sailing along! If you'd like to support the channel, THANK YOU in advance. Are those American plugs? Is this a regular balcony or Britannia Club?
If you go about 2 minutes in, you'll see three American plugs and two non-American plugs. This is a deck 4 sheltered balcony Stateroom. It is not part of any of the Britannia club suites or grills
@@SheSailsAway thanks. I intend to do a queen Mary cruise one of these days.
Excellent video very detailed
Thank you 😊
Great video!
@@peiginthecity thank you!
I'm so glad you are considering doing this. I am 75 in great health and love traveling, particularly cruising. I have considered doing KZread, but knowing what software and graphics has me thoroughly confused. I hope you follow through.
I worked on the S.S. Norway back in the day. Asst food mgr too good
I found the food on the Wonder better,
I’LL BE THERE IN MAY 2025!! Can’t wait!! My second time on Symphony of the Seas!! That’s where I tried zip lining for the first time!!
Enjoy! Sounds amazing!
What state did you leave from?
Florida
@@SheSailsAway Fort Lauderdale? My family and I are taking this cruise next year and I’m super stoke but I’m hoping the food is top tier 😩
Yes, Ft Lauderdale. Enjoy your cruise, should be lots of fun!
@@SheSailsAwayI hope so, I’ll be postin my experience on my channel in July of 2025… thank you for getting back to me 😊
@BrownAndBald can't wait to hear all about it 😀
Am going on the royal on 1st april 25 from sydney to barrier reef thats tropical cruise nice and warm
That sounds delightful. I'm on the Queen Mary 2 right now and have met quite a few people from Australia!
I will rate you 11 out of 10 so you owebme one lol Great video
You did not mention the duty free purchases.
You mean for possibilities to spend money on? That's a good point… I've never bought any of those things so I didn't even think about that.
Parking fees are huge. $75+ per day.
Wow!
Very good points. I have found my regular health insurance covered a visit to the cruiseship medical, but I still always get regular travel insurance. Don't want to be bankrupt by a helicopter!
So true! The one insurance policy you hope you never need to use!
I'm intrigued - ty!
You might want to mention that making calls from the ship is generally not covered by international calling plans. There are no cell towers at see. The only link is satellite, and that is super expensive. The solution is by a wifi package and use wifi calling on your phone. That also includes texting back home. In that vein, be sure to ALWAYS put your phone in airplane mode before leaving the port. If not, your phone continues looking for a connection, and your roaming charges, even if you don't make a call, can be hundreds of dollars. Also, unless you are driving to the port a couple hours or so from your home, always fly in a minimum of 1 day early
Great tips! I will definitely be addressing some of those things in future videos. Thank you so much for sharing, I hope it helps a new cruiser visiting these comments!
What a welcome video, was considering going on a solo cruise in September since I need to use up my PTO pretty soon 😂
Thank you. I am taking a solo Transatlantic cruise next April. Odyssey of The Seas from Bayonne to Rome. The second part if my B2B is Rome Greek Isles 7 night cruise
Sounds fabulous!
I'm 59 and I have my own KZread channel. But it's gaming. Nothing to do with cruising. It's still very small. 159 subs.
Hi, I am part of the over crowd!! Yes, very interested in the how to create a channel content. I have several interests that I have thought about doing a channel on for years but seems so daunting to get started. Thank you for your content!
@@mnb3566 great, thank you! I know exactly what you mean, seems so daunting and complicated. It really isn't, but of course, I took the approach of one step at a time and I didn't move forward with the next step till I was good and ready. Look for more videos to come! So excited for your future channel 😃
@@SheSailsAway thank you!
Disappointing that you didn't show any other food from the main dining room other than vegan or vegetarian. Would like to have seen a steak meal or some seafood?
@@renamccully1462 well I don't eat those things so I'm not sure how I would've covered it. 😊
Female solo cruisers are called “brave”. Male solo cruisers are called “the gay guy”. That’s my experience.
July 2024. Norwegian just announced they are adding another 1,000 solo cabins to their fleet. Travel with those lines that want our solo business. Boycott those like Princess who refuse to acknowledge the growing solo market.
I have been given this cabin for my upcoming alaska trip. Is this cabin noisy from deck below?
No it was not
Great video! We’ve sailed Harmony of the Seas and currently deciding between Oasis and Symphony but for different reasons. Oasis goes to Aruba and Curaçao, which we’ve never been to and have always wanted to go to. But symphony is newer and goes to places we’ve been before. Having done BOTH, would you choose the ISLANDS you want or the SHIP you want? Can’t have both and that’s where we’re at 🙂. Would love your opinion as someone who’s sailed both (and leans toward Symphony). Thanks!
That's a tough choice! I loved Aruba and Curaçao and would like to go again. But I would still choose Symphony. There's always the very small chance of a port cancellation or bad weather on your port day, and with a cruise costing as much as it does, I would pick the ship that will deliver great entertainment, good food, and beautiful accommodations all week long. I most definitely enjoyed the food and entertainment on Symphony more than Oasis, and found the ship overall to feel more luxurious and special. Aruba was fun to see--you can't go wrong with either choice--but for quality ship-time, shows, and beautiful surroundings, I would go with Symphony!
@@SheSailsAway I appreciate this! We have 10 people going, including 4 “kids” ages 19, 17, 17, and 14. They’ve never been into the “teen” rooms/activities and love to just relax. Does your recommendation stay the same?
@makingmedicaresimple i'm not sure it's appropriate for me to answer that because I didn't take any teens with me. I don't know much about the team clubs or what's offered for teens actually. But there's a lot to do on the ship for everybody, including zip lining, Flowrider, swimming, all of that
Wow so many millions of dollars spent on luxuries and pleasures, while the people of Palestine are starving to death and dying as a consecuence of the US Imperialist Zionist government donating billions of dollars from our tax dollars to the evil genocidal government of Israel. Something has to give !!
Is this backstage Rome at royal Carribean?
I don't know what you mean. The name of the tour is mentioned in the video I think it was called Roman highlights
We recently returned on a cruise land package that started in Fairbanks and ended in Vancouver. Everyone on the ship was sick and as a result we all got sick. The food for evening meals is inconsistent at best. We had loud noise in our room from the theater every evening and on rehearsal days. Also had problems with our room Steward and a clogged toilet. Have been on many cruises and this was one of the most unpleasant experiences. I don't know if it was just bad luck, but will probably never book a princess cruise again. Simply way too many issues. We're expecting more.
Oh dear, that sounds terrible! So sorry you had such a bad experience. I've had a few of those kinds of cruises myself and it's so very disappointing.

I’m Hoping for a glacier title wave; just a little bouncing, of course.
New sub here! Do you recommend a certain line or ship for a 1st time solo cruise? I didn’t see a video specifically addressing solo cabins on different cruise lines… What Disney ship do you recommend for a solo female new to Disney? TY:))
Thank you for subscribing! I have only experienced a soli cabin once--on Celebrity Ascent. My other solo trips have been in standard sized cabins. I love cruising Disney!! You can't go wrong with their ships. My favorite is the Wonder, but Magic is a close second! I haven't been on the Wish, but it looks beautiful. So fun to see those amazing Disney shows and wander the ship, do a little shopping! Lots of Disney merch on board! You will enjoy great service, too!
thank you 🙏 great advices
Just did my first solo river cruise. A.azed at how many married women were traveling solo because their husband's don't travel. I'm a widow and like my freedom to go anywhere I please. Still it was nice to have other solo women to do some things with.
Sounds wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing.
@SheSailsAway I was on Gate 1 doing a Danube river cruise. Their Monarch river cruiseships are the only ones I've discovered with solo cabins so NO single supplement!
@francesgill8621 wow! That's rare!
I like your points. I have enjoyed doing my own thing too!
Thank you!
Do what you like. It's none of my business. I refuse to feel guilty about turning my phone Off😏
My wife and I have gone on over 20 cruises together, this October I'll be somewhat sailing solo. I'll be giving some of her ashes to the sea and some in Cabo San Lucas, per her request. My older son, his wife, and my niece will be accompanying me, but it'll be their first cruise ever. I told them that we'll hang out here and there, but if they try to stay with me for the entire cruise I'll get irritated. They need to explore and enjoy their first cruise so that there will be a second one LOL!
Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so sorry about the loss of your wife. That sounds like a very meaningful cruise and how wonderful to be with family. You're right, cruises are most enjoyed when everybody has the freedom to spread out and do their own thing throughout the day. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
