Don’t see many videos about these books. Desert Spear is my favorite of the series. Like you mentioned the character arcs are great. Beautiful edition there with the wards.

As someone not in the US, it's the opposite for us. You pay the same amount of shipping per book as if you ordered them separately - and then you run the risk of having to pay customs if the order total is over $100.

Hey, great video! Is it okay to recommend to you to get a better video camera? Even though it's 4k, but seems like the bit rate is not high enough and overall the image is not "crisp". With a much better camera it would be more pleasant to watch and enjoy your videos.

Are they doing the Malloreon too? And have you read the Elenium, the Tamuli, and Redemption of Althalus? All Amazing!! I recently read the Belgariad to my 8 year old daughter Saphira, and her favorite part is when Garion punches the other boy in the nose and tells him to put snow on it lol. And whenever someone is being spoiled she says they are acting like Cenedra before she got nice ha ha. Sorry for rambling I rarely find people that actually have read the books. Lol So thanks for humoring me. ☺️

Love this edition! had to get it as it's such a beautiful and sought after edition from folio society and with the introduction from Seamus Heaney shortly before his death too. Also me being from Northern Ireland where he was born was just another reason i had to have this in my folio society collection.

Such a stunning release; congrats on snagging a copy. That Tom Kidd art is gorgeous as ever. I have a couple of books with his illustrations and I can't stop revisiting them. Its great to see another channel that covers collectible book!

Appreciate the video and review. As a long-time fan of Lord Dunsany, I'm not convinced by this limited edition for £375, especially when compared to other standard Folio Society editions. I also own and love the Wind in the Willows volume you showed (£65) but also own other great books such as the Folio Society 3-volume set of Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake; I have the 2011 edition which is profusely illustrated with black & white illustrations by Peter Harding (probably my all-time favourite reading experience) but the current 3-volume set with illustrations by Dave McKean also looks superb and costs £150 (the limited edition 3-volume set of Gormenghast cost £745 which I would argue seems better value than this single volume book). There doesn't even appear to be that that much art in it, so I feel like this book is only 'special' because Folio Society are only selling 500 copies. If FS subsequently release a standard edition for say £80-£100, as they have done with Dune, I would definitely buy it. I love Dunsany and, whilst this looks a nice single volume, I don't think Folio Society have really done him justice with this for £375.

That's actually what I wanted to ask. Can you share your approach and experience with these types of fancy/expensive books? Do you actually read them and enjoy reading them? I've heard that a lot of people read cheap versions and have these expensive ones for display.

I love reading these books. The quality that goes into the manufacturing of these means that, with care, these will last far longer than I will! I love the thought of my children and grandchildren being able to enjoy these books for decades to come! I do take extra care when reading them - don’t open the spine too much, make sure hands are clean, don’t take to the pool, etc! But the reading experience is superb compared to a paperback or e-reader in my opinion! The fact that they look incredible on a bookshelf is just the cherry on top :)

Wait until you receive the Deluxe (Numbered) copies of Flowers for Algernon and Treasure Island. They are/will be in the same league as the Deluxe edition of Peter Pan. The impressionistic illustrations for Algernon by Jacob Dhein work beautifully with this tragic sci-fi story and the CVTP edition of Treasure Island contains over 50 (!) exceptional black and white illustrations by Marc Castelli, all printed letterpress, making it the equivalent of a livre d'artiste book. FYI, Castelli did the illustrations for the Chester River Press edition of Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' in 2009 and that book is now considered a modern private press classic, highly sought after by collectors.

I’m so excited for both of those editions. The illustrations I’ve seen look phenomenal and the leather covers on Algernon are going to look beautiful on my bookshelf next to the numbered Last Unicorn that’s coming my way from Suntup! And don’t even get me started on the oak boards for Treasure Island - I love antique wooden furniture and those look so sweet!
