we are "the odd jobs" because we love doing odd jobs on cars, we have cars that range from a world war 2 jeep to a modern mustang and others in-between, our aim is to do work on these cars and show everyone how we do it, warts and all, we are not professional mechanics but we are both engineers that have a love for all cars, old and new, so if its broke we will have a go at fixing it, from headlight restoration to drop links, brakes, exhausts and fitting mods we would love for you all to join us on this ride.

Well done you guys, a perfect restoration. I have always loved the Monza since my parents bought a green series 2 1983 model with Getrag 5 speed. Bought it secondhand with 8 k miles only for £9000 in 1984. They toured Europe in it probably nearer 28 mpg. average . I then found a four wheel drive Monza in Northampton which was tested by Motor in 1981 against the new Audi Quattro, where the testers praised the handling and ride over the Audi, though slightly heavier it was not quite a quick, mainly because they were testing an automatic Monza versus a manual Audi Later I found this silver FF MONZA MK 3 which is manual and just as quick as the Audi kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGeKu5eaac28gJs.htmlsi=_diYrqPtP766Hm2t In January this year Classic and Sportscar did a reunion of the Motor test and came up here with an Audi. Here is the Blue FF car I think after being shown at the Excel centre
Some people say the models from 07-09 are unreliable compared to the 03-06. Would anyone agree with this? Seen it on car wizard whos a reputable mechanic
oh no way i worked at the company that made that R2D2 and it was me that designed it haha, guessing either says WESCO or ZEON underneath?
ZEON underneath buddy
@@theoddjobs3749 that's it ha that's funny. Garage turned out great by the way. I don't have a garage at ours but trying to look at a new house next year and want a garage so good inspiration
Thanks buddy, hope it helped you with some ideas, everyone has different tastes but that’s what suited me, I’ve done an update video recently on how it’s worked out over the year, and some pros and cons
Thats my old car, i bought it from a chap in Devon, brought it home to Dorset, used it as my daily runner for a couple of years, sold it to a lad local, who didnt look after it, and was involved in an accident on the left front corner, i fitted a different dash to it as the original one was really cracked, great to see it still going
That’s awesome, really awesome car
How good is that caliper tool
Yeah worked pretty well to be fair
What’s the verdict on the ikea bror units a year on? Looks great by the way
Whoops, just found your other video haha
They are really hard wearing
Why did you take nuts off ...only need to loose them and lift off terminals...really bad video, dont do !!
It was cold and dark many years ago, thanks for the comment , we realised later on not to remove the nuts, live and learn
Who supplied your garage door please? Has the door been reliable. Would you recommend the company? Looking at replacing an old up and door as part of y garage renovation. Got the same Ikea cabinet as youve used after seeing the first video you did. Hope your move abroad is a success. Goodluck in all ypu do mate
Thanks buddy, really appreciate the comment, the garage door is from a company called Rollerdoor UK, absolutely would recommend, they were really responsive, came and gave me a free quote, they understood my needs for more space, very helpful indeed, never had an issue with it at all, works perfect and looks great.
Love your garage. I will copy some of your ideas into mine😅
Happy to of given you some ideas
Nice set up, my only thought would be that I would have mounted the TV on a wall away from the bench top. Simply because it looks awesome above the bench but when you use the bench it is too close and you cannot really see the shows.
Yeah I did think that but due to sockets it was only real place I could put it
What size is this garage?
15 square metres
@@theoddjobs3749 well thats one way to measure it lol i mean is it 10x12,20x30 etc
@@TheIamdevin 5m long by 3m wide (16x10 ft)
Any condensation on the jetski, tool boxes etc.? Wondering if worth have a dehumidifier in there?
II did think of a dehumidifier but never really got to bad
Buddy I can not believe the set up ❤
Shame I’m moving now 😂
Brilliant video 👍
Thank you
I have a 2019 ford edge and a buddy installed the wiring harness for a trailer hitch and ever since then I've had this parking fault error and it has to do with the rear (Only does it when you put it in reverse). The dealership said they won't touch it because it's corroded and they said it would be $740 to fix it. They said the thing was unplugged. So I'm sure my buddy just forgot to plug it back in cause it was working fine before that. I'm hoping with the help of this video I can locate and fix it myself. Thanks for the video!
Hopefully it helps, the sensors are pretty cheap to buy if one does need replacing, dealership wanting to charge $740 is ridiculous
@@theoddjobs3749 Heck yeah it is. They said the whole wiring needs to be changed to because it's all corroded so that's why it's so much money. I can't see replacing all the wiring. That's just ignorant and a huge waste of money.
@@viprgaming641 they just seem to want the easiest path to fixing it , problem with modern day mechanics (not all) they would rather replace rather than diagnose and fix
@@theoddjobs3749 yes sad but true
@@theoddjobs3749 Yeah and get this. I had it in the shop for something else and I asked them if they could just plug the sensor wire in because I'm sure we just forgot to plug it back in when we did the trailer lights so they did and it's working fine. And they were going to charge me $740? Unbelievable
Greta video. Looks amazing. Really enjoyed it
Thank you
Great video mate, you kept it really simple and straightforward - well played
Sometimes simple looks better imo
I've had 19 big bikes. 3 of them being bandit 600's they are incredible bikes such great value for money. I'm thinking about buying another which be be bandit number 4. They are fast enough for the road and everyday use. Plus the make a great sound with a stubby exhaust and they are very reliable!
Where are you based? Thank you
Looks awesome! I've got a lot of ideas from you! Really like what you've done. Wasn't sure on the black paint at first but.....
yeah honestly I wasn't sure either to be fair but it really brought it together especially with the lights
Sounds like your front bearings need changing
Great job.
Thank you
Hi there just wondering have any problems with the oil cooler at all since having the upgrade fitted ? Thanks ☺️
Zero issues since I had it upgraded, 100% recommend
@@theoddjobs3749 that’s awesome to know , appreciate it 😁👌🏼 thanks
Not all ford pumas of the same age are rust buckets and leave Brown stains on the road I run a 2000 model 1.7 and has never been welded and is definitely not a rust bucket And can pass its mot without advisories although I do agree that alot of these era of cars have Unfortunatly surcomed to the tin Worm it's like any car if you don't look after it and neglect the underneath what can you expect
Absolutely agree, got to look after them
Such a boy racer etate lol. Shame Opel Ascona had saloon and hatchback only. That brown interior screams 70's, but at least it isn't as cheesy as red American interiors of any J-car.
Agreed
Looks wonderful- and you got it done!!
You have done a fantastic job, bringing the car back to how it should be. I had 7 of them ending up with the gse model. If I had a garage I would have another one in a heartbeat. Keep up the great work that you do ..
Mate do we need a torque wrench
Up to you
💤😴
👍🏻
Great video. Reverse chimes and alerts are out on my escape, but its not showing message. Camera works, but no alert. ???
Not heard of that before, possibly turned off in the settings ?
How do you like the ikea cabinets? Have they held up well?
Yes they’ve held up really well, update video coming soon
From an era when England was still England
Excellent vlog I have the same issue on my 67 plate transit connect 👍
Hope it helps
I have a 2003mod 211 E200 Kompressor Estate. God cars! And a good video! 😃 The 320CDI was the biggest diesel in the estate, but in the saloon the 420CDI was the bigggest. V8 Diesel.
I LOVED mine
Lovely aren’t they
@@theoddjobs3749 all three of my cats blew at once. Wish I would’ve straight piped
Lovely car, I have the same but the Royale. Where did you get the turret tops from, were they prefabricated off the shelf or built from scratch. Ps I'm going to have to subscribe now and catch up on the resto 😂
I’ll ask Sam to ask where the turret tops were done :)
Hiya mate, they were repaired at a local body shop so they're the repaired originals. Love the Royales too!
@samwaller3873 you don't happen to know the name of the bodyshop do you. Looks a great job they've done.
Does the flooring make any difference with the temperature?
Not massively, more it keeps it clean, update video coming soon
Get a folding hitch kit for that trailer and you could open up even more room in that garage.
didnt even think of that 🤣
My parents had a green/green Monza series 2 with AC just for using it for the annual south Italy road trip from Germany. They owned it from 97 (I was 2 years old at the time) till 99 when my dad sold it, he's still regretting it today lol Even though I'm a Benz guy, owning a CLK 430 green exterior and interior and a CL500 with dark green interior, I'd love to own a Monza at some point. Preferably in green of course, I'm into green coupes as you might noticed.
How many miles does your bandit have?
Sam sold the bike but it had around 30k on it buddy
This is so helpful, thank you. Question, why did you go with 12mm plyboard ...would 9mm do the job also?
I went with 12mm for a little bit of sturdiness , I wasn’t sure how heavy the lights would be (bit of an overkill with hindsight) , I am currently filming an update video to show what I’ve done extra to the garage including the loft ,which includes insulation and storage
Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. I deffo want to max out that space aswell so seeing how you do it will be of huge interest to me. Thanks!
Thinking of getting the roller door myself, to get more space inside. I'm guessing water under the door was no longer an issue once fitted?
Totally worth it, makes a huge difference , because the door was fitted externally the water drains away and doesn’t ingress into the garage anymore
Nice job matey. You are very modest about it I must say. I noticed Nobby was a bit "spanner shy" on this one. Is he putting in some sea time? 😂
Haha thanks Dave, I let Sam do all the filming for this one., the missus and I are moving to Cyprus , had enough of the UK, hope you are well buddy
Nicely done.
Thank you
Yes it is completely legal to use a CB in general, you no longer need a license. And you can use one in a car, even when driving. I have one in my B reg Cavalier saloon.
Good to know
Looking good Nobby lad. Hope all is well mate.
All good this end buddy, hope you are too
@@theoddjobs3749 all good thanks, have a beer if you’re ever down my end 🙂
@@s2kluke absolutely buddy
As an Aussie the mk 2 looks like a weird combo of Commodore, Gemini and Camira. Speaking of which can confirm. Parents had an 85 wagon. Let’s just say that it wasn’t a bad car, but it wasn’t a good car. The tailgate design was I’ll admit very well thought of.
great points
The Ford GT90 was the godfather on "New Edge" design and a testbed for future technologies, such as car, lane sensor warning. The focus and ford KA came after and then the Cougar. Basically the new Mercury V6 cougar. I have the SVT 3.0 litre version, which produces 202bhp 0.60 7 sec. Not much but great fun. CHASSIS from ford Taurus (mondeo).
please lose those rims
ill pass the message on
@@theoddjobs3749 thanks. even tho those are original gm/opel/vauxhall rims they for sure have never been delivered for or with this car. the colour is horrific and these rims give this otherwise beautiful car a cheap wannabe look.
