  That’s great. Wish I had a garage I’d build this. such a pain to always have to get another person to help you pick it up and then put it somewhere for storage and you can’t just put it on and take it off easily. I do have a soft top though that I use but this would be great and for 60 bucks, can’t beat it

  Anybody see how many washers he put on the front and back to make it line up? In between the bracket and the struts? And what bolts to use? I have the same bike so I’m trying to avoid the whole trial and error on that part

  This was the video that prompted me to go down a fucked up rabbit hole of buying a welder, drill press, angle grinder, and the shit to wire a new circuit to the breaker box. Ended up going with 20mm cans which are twice as big/heavy so i needed a more robust bracket setup. $600 and some new skills later they're done! Defeats the point of the cheap build but now I've got a shop full of fab tools. Going to make a sissy bar and floorboards for the vulcan next. Thanks for the ride man!

  I went looking for copper and found gold. I have some old C5 Corvette cast aluminum wheels that look nice and shiny on the outside but the inside has a perfect mix of god awful pitting and brake dust residue. I'm not gonna go as in-depth as you since they just need a touch up, but your wheels look amazing.

  Built a similar system using this video as a guide. Bought the gambrel/pulleys from Harbor Freight and used 4 ratchet straps and eye hooks/rings from the ceiling on the four corners. Problem is that there is so much mechanical resistance, I can’t lift it without help. Is it my low priced pulleys? Or what am I doing wrong?

  Sandwich the foam between the pickup and the back of the cavity, then screw the pickup directly into the wood.

  Doesn't matter, they just need to be long enough to reach the corners of the top. 6ft would be plenty.

  Great idea! I’m planning on doing the same. Only question I have is you only used two screws to hold the 2x4’s in the Joists? Will that support everything else?

  I used 3” screws in each board, up through the drywall and into the joists. Holding so far.

  I did an ammo can build as well! It does load and unload easier/more securely, but doesn't look quite as good on this bike.

  Dont forget when you qunech the steel to move the blade around. Without movement a steam layers forms around the steel slowong the cooling process. Time for round 2.

  440C, 420A etc are stainless and easily heat treatable in air or mud. They are knife steels, cheap and available. Always beat the meat of your knife to a thin profile. Before heat treating always take as much material out as possible, leaving only a mm extra for finishing. Use a file, it works and is cheap af. A basic stone grindr works too and is designed for exactly this. Cover your "forge" with thin metal and leave only one opening to save on fuel and speed it up. Your blower might be too fast.

  I’m going to do the same thing with mine. Except I’d like to turn all the faux holes black. Probably lose my mine with these god dam wheels and throw them away. I spent hours trying to clean them already

  1085 or 1095 are cheap on Amazon and pretty forgivable with heat treatment. 1/8 inch thick bar stock would be very handy. Grinding your shape is a lot easier than forging it. I’m impressed with your first attempt! Keep uploading your builds

  100% for a kitchen knife you want a thinner blade, that's your main issue with the Yam, badboy is too thicc :D If you think about chopping a tree with an axe across grain and coming in at a dead 90 degree angle vs chipping away, its essentially a good way to think about the issue. The resistance to your axe is the material moving out of the way to accommodate the wedge (or blade thickness in this case). The thinner the blade, the more easily it will go through material with a straight cut. You've probably made a pretty badass camp knife there, it looks definitely more suited to that task in terms of blade geometry - be interesting to see how it does in stuff like batoning and such. I mean don't, you wouldn't want to break your first knife! It would probably carry some wicked vibration through that handle too.

  Great diy, i've buld something similar but because i'm too lazy i've used a manual crank instead of pulley and after a drill to pull the strops, make 4 knot to avoid over rewind and hit the roof with the rear window (be patient of my bad english i'm from italy)
