    wait a second…the receiver doesnt use phantom power but only turns on and off? Are you sure of that?! i have spent almost 1K for this feature only. The MKE2 is on its way to me right now.

    I'm afraid I'm quite sure. I think phantom power just isn't enough to power the receiver. Having said that, battery life on the receiver hasn't been a problem for me; and don't forget that the battery is removable, so you can have a spare, and you can power it over USB.

    Excellent post! question(s). Is the autofocus of the R5c similar to the R5? (for wildlife...) Can we get 12 bits out of it...🤔 may be using an external recorder.. or not even with that...? thanks! cheers! ;)

  • @atticuslake

    Thanks for the comment! I don't use autofocus much, and I don't shoot wildlife much at all, so I'm not the best person to answer that; but the AF on the R5C is pretty good, good enough for pieces to camera etc. It's not the same as the R5, but still good. As for 12-bit, you get this in raw; see the review at 15:18.

  • @EmeraldAudiovisual

    The reason, that the AVX system uses microUSB and not USB-C is, that it was introduced in 2015. It's not a new system. USB-C was introduced in 2014, but the first devices using USB-C weren't around until 2016. Retooling would probably not be worth it for Sennheiser, depending on how many units they sell.

    Great video. Probably the best as far as knowledge goes on the R5C. I'm always thinking about getting this camera but the few flaws just hold it back so much. And I end up sticking to my Sony. It's that micro HDMI that really gets me. A long with no remote control. But it looks like a beautiful camera and a lot of ways I just don't understand why Cannon decided to limit it and such strange ways battery choice is another one. Anyway great so-called not review. Absolutely one of the best on this camera I've ever seen better than many of the popular KZreadrs out there. So factual and to the point edited well. Have a good one good at least one more subscriber.

    The camera tells me to put the lens cap on when switching from photo to video? Is this something you have been doing?

  • @atticuslake
    @atticuslake Жыл бұрын

    I think what you're seeing is the message you get when you turn the camera off from video mode, which of course happens when you switch through to photo mode. It's just general adivce. I always completely ignore it when switching modes.

  • @PizzlesTechTime
    @PizzlesTechTime Жыл бұрын

    @@atticuslake Yes I did the first few times but then I realized it said to put the lens cap on. If you've been using it for 8 months I suppose it hasn't caused any issue lol.

  • @atticuslake
    @atticuslake Жыл бұрын

    @@PizzlesTechTime The point is it's only telling you that because you are turning the camera OFF. When you turn the camera off, putting the lens cap on is good advice. But in your case, you are turning it off and then straight into the other mode -- you're not really turning it off. This is just a wierd side-effect of the power switch having OFF in the middle. So I think you can safely ignore it. Putting the lens cap on while you change modes can't possibly make any difference.

    I’ve shot a lot with the R5 & FX3. (R5 personal- FX3 at work) I know the FX3 has better stats but man I love shooting with the R5 better. Personally, shall I get an R5c or FX3?

  • @atticuslake
    @atticuslake Жыл бұрын

    I'm afraid only you can decide that. I was on the fence between the A7SIII, the FX3, and the C70 for a month; in the end I got the C70, but it was a close call. The FX3 is going to be smaller, lighter and more compact, and have a decent lens choice; but for me, the R5C is just a lovely camera. If you liked the R5, then you'll love the R5C, as its video mode makes video shooting a joy. As long as you don't need remote control.

    Thank you for this detailed video! I also saw the one you made on the r5. Out of the two, which one would you recommend for a hybrid shooter? The r5c is about 900 euros more expensive here than the r5 so I’m thinking the r5 is better value. Is the video quality that much better on the r5c?

  • @atticuslake
    @atticuslake Жыл бұрын

    I think it just depends on what matters to you, and how much you're willing to pay for it. I don't think you're going to see any difference in video quality; they have the same sensor, although they use it in different ways (the R5C has dual base ISO), but the results are going to be pretty similar. Then again the R5C can do 8k at 60 FPS, and it has no record time limit; if you want to shoot over half an hour, that could really matter. Then again the R5 gets better battery life, and of course is more compact. Personally I shoot with the R5C because the video OS is just nicer for video shooting.

  • @MrMolotov69

    @@MrMolotov69 I haven't tested dyn range specifically; others have, like Gerald Undone. I don't think there's a lot of difference, though the dual ISOs might help a little. Again, it's the same sensor.

  • @atticuslake

    I have had this camera since its release and I am very satisfied with it. I only use it for VR video though, with canons dual fisheye lens. It gives great control and its about the only "compact" option for 8k and 60fps. The built in level assist is also very helpful for me. Recently I discovered how convenient it is to have film and photo modes, when I couldn't bring a tripod inside a church and took lots of stills with the level assist. It has some drawbacks, but most luckily dont affect me anyway.

    Thanks! I record my sound using the Sennheiser AVX system (see my review of that), with the lav mic on my chest, using an Ursa Straps chest strap. I really like this setup, and it seems to produce consistent results. The wireless receiver just runs straight into my camera, which in this case was the Canon C70.
