Welcome to the Unsightliest place on the internet. If you're wondering what to expect from this channel... Expect the everything. Let’s get the big one out of the way first. I’m blind… also albino… but we can talk about that more later. More importantly, I don’t tend to fit the label of what society and media think a blind person should be, or at least what a blind person is capable of. If I had to describe myself I’d say more of a teacher, musician, water and downhill skier, book nerd, school obsessed, seamstress, fashionista, horse-back rider, world-traveler, lecturer, coach, and advocate. But who can be described in 15 words? There’s so much more underneath all that. I’m inviting you into my life! Follow me around on my insane adventures, successes, and failures…while trusting my life to a four-legged goofball named Patience. Be ready for the good, the bad, and the unsightly!

My childhood visual when eyes closed before sleep is riding color roller coaster and its fun.
If someone asks if they can pray for you, it can be phrased as Would you be ok IF I prayed for you - and I would point out that I would pray later and not right there in public. A friend asks for prayer on a regular basis, but it is very specific.
The first christmas my best friend was dating his ex, she gave me a Captain America colouring book for christmas. It was the funniest thing in the world. I was laughing for at least an hour. I still get the giggles thinking about it. If I had gotten that gift from the partner of literally anyone else I would have been so hurt.
I just got the Dakota Disk in the mail today. I also thought it came busted good to know its not. I did not see any sort of warning or note about how it is not meant to sit flush with the rest of the cane like other cane tips. That should note that on their website. Just so we know that and know to expect that. Thank you for the video its incredibly helpful!
REVIEWING YOUR CUSTOM WWHEELCHAIR IMPRESSIVE 👍👍👍🦽🦽🦽
I'm experiencing this right now
well on this topic about asking random questions it's very common and i see people asking me almost the same question and a few years back i met a traditional healer whilest walking on the street and this person stopped me and said to me "are you blind " and i was like i was born blind but sometimes people don't seem to understand how people with special needs live their own lives and it is very tricky to explain to a person about disability itself sometimes and it's very weired for people to ask question like these sometimes and sometimes it is true that you would find people with multiple disabilities like myself i'm visually impaired and epileptic as well and it's very hard to explain such things with people

Really helpful in these days... 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have problems with visual discrimination, so even though I can see, I often can't find an object I have dropped. Thank you so much for these ideas!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! :)
thank you for sharing this, i have been using a white cain since 2020 and still don't feel comfortable being out alone. the o and m wants 85 dollar per hour , i just dont have that kind of money .. videos like yours help and wish there was a whole series on it cause there are so many different scenarios would be nice to learn about them, like just finding an atm in the store or the front door of a building once you get dropped of by a taxi driver that is just too busy to help you to the door.. anyway so many different moments , i like the long cain it reaches up the height of my nose getting just those few extra inches makes a big difference to me. thanks for reading , greets mak from alaska :)
That's actually a great idea! I'll see what I can do about a video on independent cane travel. :)
hello, i'm living in Alaska where there is a lot of snow and its hard to get around because of that .. its even hard to go out and find the trash dumpster all covered with snow , using the curve in the summer its easier to do . do you have any tips how to make this easier with such uneven surface .. greets mak :)
I live in Canada and boy do I empathize with the cane/uneven/snow issue. There's a few things you can try. I would definitely suggest the Dakota disk for snow. It glides so much better than the other cane tips. As for uneven in the summer. I go for the biggest tip I can find. Either a ball tip, or a free-wheel tip for those uneven surfaces so it glides better. Hope that helps!
the vacume trick is genius ❤❤
Thanks! I owe my mom or that gem. :)
Another very useful video! Thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it!
Hi I was born albino and partially blind and your videos are very useful!!
Thank you!
Oh here you are! More shorts? I havent gotta an alert for a new video foe a while. Good to see you!
More to come! Life has been a little crazy, but I'm hoping to be back more regularly now. :)
I tried this for a one hour walk on a concrete sidewalk. I found the vibration to be so strong that my wrist was tingling afterwards. A friend also tried it more extensively than I did, and he had one of the wheels come off. Sorry to say we didn’t feel it was worth the money
I agree. The price and the vibration is pretty crazy!
Thank you this was very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
This is an awesome tutorial, thank you so much!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@UnsightlyOpinions It was very helpful - I'm writing a novel about a blind protagonist who is a knitter. In fact, I've been finding many of your videos extremely helpful in that endeavor. Thank you so very much for posting them - it's important to me that my character represent the blindness community authentically!
Absolutely great and invaluable and detailed review. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for being here 🙏
Happy to be here :)
I hate doing this, but being blind I have to. Sometimes, I’ll use my feat instead of my hands. But yeah.
Hey, me too! haha Feet work just as well as hands when you don't want to or can't bend over :)
I have been a legally blind and partially deaf ambulatory wheelchair user for the last 6 years since having a stroke. My first chair was a TiLite Aero X with a Smart Drive, I had a lot of issues with the smart drive due not having a lot of feeling in my hand, we eventually got the Alber wheels with a joystick. I just got my second chair delivered today and it is a TiLite ZRA with the new smart drive controlled by the dial.
I just replaced my chair with a TiLite Aero Z. I'm loving it so far!
A Walking stage 5 skin cancer
I want to know how to use TalkBack because I'm new to it just use it yesterday
I would check out Carrie on Accessibility. She has some great tutorials. :)
What I normally do is shake my wrist while holding my flashlight when I lose anything metal. It’ll flash back at me and attract my gaze. Lose my phone? Search for hours 😂
If I misplace my phone I ask Google what time it is. Sometimes I have to walk around repeating myself until I get an answer.
I do the same yelling hey google or hey Siri all the time looking for my lost phones. haha
Quasi-blacklight flashlight! It gives everything a different look, so the dropped object doesn't blend into what you usually see. I'm in a nursinghome, increasingly weak eye, blind in the other. With the infralight, I can even find the tiny transparent stylus tips😃
Cool idea. I'll share with my low vision friends!
Thank you for the information session my daughter was born with it and they said it should go away after a few months she is 3years now
I hope you can figure out what causes it soon or it resolves on its own. :)
Hi , so where are you working today?
you look a character from allice in wonderland
Omg the nylon with the vacuum is SOO SMART holy shit!!
Tell me you’ve never done drugs without telling me 🤣
@@dudleyhughbanks9287 …….. ?? Pardon me bro
So long as you make sure the nylon doesn't get sucked inside it's brilliant. I use it at least once a week! I owe my mom for that gem
So, um. What happens if you drop a knife?
Look for it with a cutting glove. You could also employ a magnetic item like a knife magnet.
I second the comment below. A knife glove is a must in my kitchen. Thankfully, I rarely drop sharp things
Oh thanks for sharing, the vacuum nylon tip I'm sure was thought of after a lot of struggle, it's genius!
You're so welcome! I learned this gem of wisdom from my mom. She was great with the life hacks that are actually useful! :)
The magnet bars for storing knives and tools- take one of those and sweep the floor if you've dropped pins and needles.
I love those when I'm sewing. They are great! I lost mine. It reminds me I should get another. :)
Thank you so much, Tamara, I am going to watch this video with my braille student today. She has learned the alphabet but I think this will help her reinforce things.
Thank you Maria for the kind words. I hope your student enjoyed the video!
PEOPLE MUST RESPECT PEOPLE WHO HAVE VISUAL PROBLEMS ALL RIGHT..
By the way, I am having trouble finding your other video that you made in collaboration with someone about how you film videos etc.
Was it this one? kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoCAwbt8eMXLiqQ.html
@@UnsightlyOpinions hi I saw that one. But I thought he said in that video that you had a video on your channel on how to film videos.

I have a couple of degenerative conditions, one of the cornea and one with retna. The retnal one is new, like 4 days old and I have a lot of blacked out flashing spots in vision that literally happened overnight and has progressively gotten worse. It's hard to read and write atm. Even my retnal specialist did a lot of test and are confounded on the reason for such a fast change without other symptoms It's scary, and there's so much I wanted to see and do, games, traveling, etc. My father told me that I should plan on going to the countries that I wanted to see before my conditions get to the point where I'm fully blind. Of course that's after my specialists give me a final diagnosis Thanks you for the video, my mental health is taking a big hit because of this rapid loss of vision
Hi Key. I'm sorry it sounds like you are going through a lot right now and I empathize deeply with what you are going through, having experienced that myself. It can take a long time to get the answers you want. Know that all of the things you want to do while you see, gaming, travelling, all of that can be done when you can't see. It's a different experience for sure, but can be just as rewarding. I am sending you virtual support and positive vibes. Feel free to check in if there's anything we can do to support. :)
I do the same thing I still use a flash light to catch maybe a glint but I use the hand technique the most on the ground
If I have my white cane nearby, I lay it on the ground and roll it until it hits the thing I dropped. The nylon over a hand-held vaccine is genius!
I love the white cane idea. I’ll use it to find big stuff like furniture but never thought to lay it down to find things. Very cool!
I also use the white cane on the floor method, however I think I will adopt your Hoover method as that sounds pretty genius especially for small things like earring backs.
What if the floor is made of cheesegrater?
Thankfully not a situation I have encountered 😂
The Penfriend doesn't use NFC-Tags. It uses precoded QR-Codes, which are linked to your Audio Recordings. Like any other special Solution for the Disabled, it's design and performance is poor and out-dated and it's overpriced. Soon, you run out of available Stickers and remove others or reuse them. If more then 1 Person needs to use a Penfriend in your Household, you have to seperate the Penfriends and the Labels from each other, otherwise you have wrong Linkings. The Penfriend itself isn't accessibly designed also. WTF? Use Techniques and Solutions made for everyone and don't accept being discriminated. It's a good idea to use NFC Tag Stickers or QR-Code Stickers Stickers with the Information you wish, but not just as a Link to an Audio File like the Penfriend does.
Wow. I had no idea. That is crazy! Accessible design should be more accessible than that.
Ye video aap Hindi language me banaa sakte ho meri beti v albino he 🙏👍

Hey! I wanted to thank you for clarifying everything! I am so happy that MacOS has the voiceover function. I added your video to my private playlist when I buy a macOS and then I will watch it to learn a little more. For how many years I've been thinking about buying a macOS, and my family said that Apple's macOS didn't have the voiceover function, but I didn't think their answers were true. I mean, all macOS devices should have the voiceover function because it's Apple... so I ignored their false answers. 🤣 I have been an iOS voiceover user for 13 years due to my eye problems, I had surgery like over 6 times. Anyway, I started using this function when I was a high school student, my Braille teacher taught me about the voiceover function of iOS. Again, thank you so much for making this video. This information was very useful. :)
All of the Mac products have VoiceOver built in. I've been a MacOS VoiceOver user since 2004ish. It was out LOONG before iOS VoiceOver. I'm glad you didn't' listen to your family. I love it as a screen reader.
I use a graphite folding cane from Ambutech with a high mileage cane tip. I got this cane yesterday. I've used graphite before and I really like it before I got my new cane I was using my backup which is a aluminum cane Which the aluminum cane really wears out cane tips. Which the aluminum cane really wears out cane tips because the cane's not as flexible. Graphite is durable, lightweight and flexible so it gives more feedback I love it.
I have MS with Optic Neuritis. I woke up with very shaky and blurry vision in my right eye.
