I have an important question: I got mine yesterday, i love the sound basically, but if i listen to some tracks with an hard bass like some house or techno tracks and adjust bass/treble to plus 3 or higher and i go at 75% volume, than it sounds like the mania couldn’t handle that bass, it sounds like overdrive, like the membranes hit something or the air couldn’t get out from the inside… but that’s only with bass heavy songs, in other normal songs i could set it to +3 or so and go to 100% volume without this problem, so inreally don’t know if it’s normal because it’s simply to much bass for this thing if i put the eq to plus or if my mania is broken… 🤔 And it’s only on one side, not on the other which is strange too, but that could eventually be because it’s not exactly the same on the inside on both sides ? The thing is, i think if the speaker would be broken, then it wouldn’t play without distortion if i put the eq on neutral and 100% volume because that’s allready bass heavy, or am i wrong ? But at the same time i am a little bit disappointed because on a premium brand with the i think most expensive speaker in this class that shouldn’t be possible to acchieve an distortion in my opinion, even if i adjust the bass to +6! Could you please try this song and put the bass to +6 and go about 70% so i know if i have to send it back or its normal ? The song was: „Kolter - washed away“ and i heard it on spotify via airplay

*As a JBL fan, I'm using my JBL GO Air Pop earbuds right now in both Bass Boosted and JBL Signature equalizer modes and after watching and listening to this comparison twice......I have to admit the Devialet Mania has much deeper bass. The only problem is that it is literally twice the price of current JBL Extreme 3. I sold my Extreme 3 a few months ago, but i carried it everywhere and loved its sound. For half the price, I'd buy the JBL again. But it the Devialet were closer in price to the JBL, I now know I'd choose it instead after listening to this comparison. Great video!*

Bro any portable isn t that powerfull. Home audio columns are around 75-150 watts. What you see on branding adds is maximum output you can achive not real music power which is much much lower on both

Because if you look at the specs for both these speakers, the internals are the same set up. So the question becomes, is the durability and smaller size of the Middleton worth it. I believe they are also priced the exact same.

I got both, and at lower volumes the onyx sounds better. Very clear and nice deep bass. However it is a front facing speaker so it only sounds good facing you. The Mania at lower volumes sounds great as well the bass is very punchy and deep but this speaker comes to live at the higher volumes. About 75% the Onyx doesn't really increase the base and about 85% the onyx won't really increase much volume. So it basically increase base and then thins out. The Mania will maintain its bass in all volumes and thats what makes the speaker better. It never loses bass and the clarity is better at higher volumes as well.

You have also not thought that by increasing the volume you would also have to increase the rear distance to the wall and the distance from where you listen, remember that by increasing the power you should also increase the volume of the sound box, which I have no doubt that the DSP protects the equipment but the speaker was designed to create a box with its surroundings.
