I'm so happy you can't see me watching this video with my mouth hanging open! This is exactly what I needed and didn't know what I was really looking for. I made 12 x 12 blocks out of jelly roll scraps and only had enough for 8 blocks and I needed 9. Decided I would use what I had left over to applique at butterfly on a solid for the 9th block. I just happen to have a bin full of old hankies and doilies. Thank you for the brilliant idea.

What size are the squares and the kite dimensions and crown royal squares are cut how big 4inch ?

This would also be excellent to make a rag quilt. Use large square to cut front and back and inner square to cut batting or flannel. Sew a 'X' across the sandwich only where the batting or flannel is, then sew the outer material together to form a seam, all on one side or the other, then snip the seams close to the sewing line. Wash several times and you have a rag quilt.
