    hey this is pretty off topic from what you normally talk about but how do you deal with grief, for some backstory my grandma whom i was super close with and half raised me passed close to a year ago and i moved past it quickly but when i start remembering her i get really sad for the rest of the day and can’t shake the thought. i wanted to know how you dealt with any friends or family deaths if

  • @nathanb4252
    @nathanb42522 ай бұрын

    Sorry you lost your grandma, they are really special in our lives and it is hard to lose those closest to us. Grief comes in many forms and how I work through it is allowing myself to feel it and understand that it does pass. Some days you think you're through it and then it'll hit you again like a tonne of bricks and that's OK. Feel it, work through those emotions by understanding that what you're feeling is normal and that you're missing how she made you feel. You're missing the comfort or the happiness so focus more on those good memories or the times she made you feel that feeling. Her energy is still around and she's still there looking out for you it's just from a different place now. If you get momentum on those sad or negative feelings and can't shake it then distraction works. Do something you love or take a nap and start again when you're in a better state of mind. It's a process and by giving yourself permission to grieve its likely you'll grieve less. Ask for help from your grandma, say hey grandma (or whatever you called her) I'm missing you and I could use some help to stop feeling so sad and see what happens. I hope that helps a little. She was lucky to have someone in her lifetime who loved her so much, you must be a very special person to feel so deeply to miss her so much. ❤️

    What’s your thoughts on optimising dopamine pathways to re-enforce productive behaviour? I’ve quit caffeine 2 weeks ago and have noticed tremendous benefits, however I’m tempted to have a small cup today and solely do productive tasks in hopes of ‘rewiring’ my brain to find this rewarding. I’ve heard that dopamine is mainly an association mechanism so if I experience greater levels of dopamine while doing a ‘boring’ yet productive task, it could possibly permanently change the way I view it in the future without the coffee. Just a hypothesis. I’m also strategically experimenting with adderall for the same benefit. I know people use these compounds as a ‘hack’ to bypass their own willpower, I’m just solely talking about using it as a tool.

  • @nathanb4252
    @nathanb42522 ай бұрын

    Live in alignment with your values and if you're doing something that doesn't align with your highest values then tie it in. Doing that is the greatest productivity hack. Yes quitting caffeine, alcohol and any toxins will force your body to adapt and create a more pure energy which powers you longer. Yes adderall will work for a short time but for sustainability and mental clarity with consistency there's nothing that can beat natural energy and taking care of your health. Which means emotional regulation, reflection and awareness, growth, movement, nutrition and overall balance in your life. Figure out the best balance for you between movement and rest, social connection and isolation and you'll achieve a higher baseline dopamine level. Hope that helps?

Today i woke up and didnt smoke straight away, done bits around the house some excercise and eating, then i rolled a little smoke and before i lit it i saw one of your vids come up random. Kinda did feel like a concidental time to find the channel. What you say rings to me as truth, i feel that. I did smoke what i rolled or i am right now but im gunna keep going see if i can do a few more days now. I been smoking everyday for about 20 years really, its not even a big problem as such but i can see the problems its caused me all this time too, its time to let it go now for me really. I see no reason to quit if you are not addicted. Every human has vices the key is to do it in moderation and not let it hurt other high priority areas of your life. You have to have control of it or yes I think you need to stop and get it together. Anyway, if you do not need it, do not smoke it. Do it in moderation if you do need it and do not abuse the herb.

  • @nathanb4252

    Spot on and very insightful. For me I let it take over my life and had to go through a journey to remove it from my life. If someone can keep it in moderation and it enhances their experience of life then I admire that strength, I just wanted to share my experience and how I overcame that addictive side of using weed. Thank you for your thoughtful comment, it's definitely another important part of the conversation that needs to be had so thanks for shedding light on that aspect. I Appreciate you 🙏

    I've been trying to quit weed from 2017-2022 which mainly involved both short and long stints of abstinence that generally ended up with me relapsing. I started smoking it daily in 2014 living the introverted stoner life and producing music. I smoked it casually from 2011 with friends so a totally different relationship from the one I had eventually developed. Fast forward to today, I've been off it for 1 year but my life has changed a lot in the past many years, a culmination of decisions that eventually lead me to where I am now trying to build a life centered around people/community as opposed to myself. Your message about ego death is something I'd been thinking about throughout this journey as well. I would say I've definitely experienced ego death which feels cheesy saying because many years ago id bash people who claimed such things lol. For a while now I've felt like Im in a bit of a limbo state, lacking the clear direction I once had as a result of "knowing" myself. Now, I don't know who i am - but feel like I'm developing a better sense of it again, moving slowly (but surely so i tell myself) in the ""right"" direction.

  • @nathanb4252
    @nathanb42524 ай бұрын

    I feel this, making music and smoking weed go so well together, while it helped me with creativity it also stopped me progressing on ideas and I'd have a laptop full of half finished songs in logic sessions. Finding direction is the next step after quitting and I have a whole process around finding that direction so I think that will be my next lot of videos. You're doing so well to get this far, it's incredible and you've gained some massive wisdom along the way. Thank you for your thoughtful awesome comment, keep me updated on the journey, sounds like it's been a hell of a ride. If you've got any music online throw a link up, I'd love to hear it.

  • @Matija-ml4zq
    @Matija-ml4zq4 ай бұрын

    I'd be curious to get insight into your approach to find direction so i'll subscribe to see what you put out :) My approach has been trying out different hobbies and so far I've realised that I enjoy physical activity. Been doing Yoga and Kickboxing intermittently since 2018 so I'm trying to reduce the gaps I take from doing both, the ultimate goal being to become good at a new skill and maintain a healthy body. Also obvs developing myself in my career so there's that too. But none of these feel like they take me out of the 'limbo state' the way music did. I didn't say, but music isn't really a big part of my life anymore. Have tried reconnecting with it on a number of occasions but it just doesn't bring me joy the way it used to. Still pick up my instrument and play away every now and again though. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppN22dV9aLzfecY.html&ab_channel=MemoryCloud That's a mix of my tracks I did for a radio station. The idea was to showcase the variety of styles I'd produce and make a journey. Also, I totally get what you mean by never really finishing tracks :) @@nathanb4252

    What a hidden gem of a video, and how ironic that I'm watching it while high... I've been smoking for a year and a half now. I have always persuaded myself that I am very functional, so what is the point of quitting? I enjoy undertaking activities high and believe that I can perform better at while high, maybe because its simply more fun. I'm afraid that if I stop weed, I'll lose who I am or part of who I am like you mentioned in the video. Without cannabis, I'm bored, and life feels like an inconvenience, I tend to reward my self with weed. Prior I took around 3 days off from cannabis. I felt lazy and unmotivated; everything around me appeared dull, and I felt dull. I feel like something is missing and can only acquire whats missing by smoking (i think this just means that im an addict lol). I want to change my identity as a non smoker. I would like to quit so im going to quit. If you got this far thankyou for reading all this lol

    You nailed it so perfectly, I used to be high pretty much constantly because everything was more fun if I was bent and then it got to a point where I just smoked to feel normal. When I quit smoking life sucked for a while, and I might make a video about that but it allowed me to find what was missing in my life, (I had those same feelings you described) which was self belief and self love. Now a big part of who I am is being someone who moves ahead on goals and creating the life I want. You're on a good path now bro, thank you for the comment and I admire your strength and courage. Your mind is going to be loud, it'll probably suck for a while but eventually things do calm down. The over thinking is a habit and there's a whole process to undoing that habit. Meditation helps, distraction and redirection helps and so does exercise. I'll try and articulate it in a video, but mostly it's just time. Proud of you, keep going.
