The dresses were enjoyable for me but it was a little boring. I liked the last couture collection they did and I enjoyed most of 2024's pieces tremendously. Having watched him since 2016 to now it's obvious the clothes are following the same themes but they are getting edgier. If you contrast the looks coming out now with the first few collections and even a lot of last year it's NOT all the same. TBH I think the sneakers are hilarious after all the ridiculous things people said about 10XL sneakers. I think Balenciaga has a clever way of making its haters look stupid sometimes. I didn't see the sneakers or the shoes as a gimmick but rather a response. Balenciaga pays attention to their social media presence after all.

I get your point of view, I just think it’s a shame for Demna to say he was going to concentrate on going back to the BALENCIAGA roots, only to snap back to the old aesthetic straight away. Would’ve been refreshing to see him show off a different atelier esque collection

The wishlist in your notes is such a good way to safe money for me, I have adhd and I used to impulse buy so much clothing but when I started to use a very simple list in my notes of stuff that I actually needed I started saving so much money. Also I’d recommend researching materials and how to take care of your pieces to make sure you don’t have to buy more :)

If 4% growth per quarter is bad check out Burberry. Down 56% in a year, my guess is London Stock Exchange schenanigans and China slowing down, and Daniel Lee doing nothing of note. Hell they pay you 4ish% a year for holding the stock as dividends.
@thelxwedown2 ай бұрын

@@thelxwedown I've done a deep dive into the company. To summarise the financial reports didn't line up mid 2023, it eventually recovered. Then fell for no apparent reason. Then the expected operating profits went from 600 mil down to 400 mil, and they just had 600 mil just laying around in cash. 1 year removed 15 years of progess. 30% profits are Chinese; 65% East Asia and USA. 70% profit margin across the buisness. Complete rip off lol Burberry only needs to make two items: the trench coat and the scarf (+4% YOY profit). The market assumes Daniel Lee and the whole RTW side is completely worthless (which is maybe fair once you find out why he got fired from Bottega lol). Making this a rare opportunity of betting on a creative designer on a huge discount, assuming China recovers. Shame, as his last collection sucked with tacky promotions everywhere (renaming Bond Street, really?)

Luxury brands have succeded in convincing people that their prices are acceptable for their product. They then need to raise the prices to maintain exclusivity. This is infinitely repeatable and scalable, meaning that luxury companies with a good designer and young fanbase may make very good investments. I'm 6x up on LVMH in 10 years, compared to only 2.8x on S&P (the gold standard, basically the top 500 American companies). Great for everyone from the brand to the credit companies paying for all this.
