Hamelin has a seemingly infinite repitoire, and the ability to memorize anything and play it well no matter the difficulty.

Thank you for posting this. I must have listened to his Hyperion recording a dozen times, but what a pleasure to see this especially on a Pleyel.

At 22:50 you use your elbow. I do not see any such instruction in the music. Is this a special edition or just something you felt in the spirit of what Ives would have approved?

Lots of “I don’t understand the music therefore it’s bad” comments on here. Please have the humility and grace to realise that your personal antipathy is not an indication of the music’s inherent quality.

An uncompromising, masterpiece of individual expression. I find this piece profoundly, deeply moving. I’m not sure any composer has ever revealed his inner being as Ives does here. Every listen is a new reveal. Thank you, Mr Hamelin for your wonderful performance and belief in the power of this work.

Chopin-Godowsky's first piece is a pure marvel. And played so easily while the polyphony is incredible!!!!! I get chills when I hear him play like that!
