Illinois Marine Corps veteran and DIY devotee here to share some of my favorite things and connect with members of communities with common interests. I'm currently dedicating time to my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek and other car and overlanding mods and reviews, and we'll see where it goes from there. I also recently got into amateur radio and might do some related videos.
Thanks for checking out the channel!

I did the same mod but mounted mine on the top of the panel by the glass. That way shifting cargo won’t press the button by mistake
Thanks for this! Just got home from camping in my 2024 and didn't even think of the struggle it would be, not being able to get in/out the back!
Very informative, thank you so much!!!
I’d already heard of it 😎
I would like to know (see) how it worked with the 40 meter sticks!!
Do I need to purchase sharp software
Your voice sounds like it would be perfect for radio, TV, Internet voiceover. This was a great video. very concise yet still has all the details and you never struggle for your words. Keep up the great work!
I just did my Chevy Colorado brakes for the first time on my own. I am buying a Crosstrek Wilderness next year and I will never pay the dealership again to do things that I can do on my own. Thank for sharing your knowledge!
Does this have NOAA weather ALERTS? I know it can SCAN noaa channels but can you set up automatic ALERTS?
Eureka! I had to research the meaning of Dilettante. I now know the disease we share. I expect we both have suffering wife's too.
Incredibly helpful, thank you! About to do this in my Wilderness. I was so disappointed to find no plug in the trunk. I want forward and rear-facing dashcams and now I'll have wires running all over my backseat.
You run SDR on a Raspberry Pi computer to
No B.S. and right to the point !! You get right to the heart of the matter dude. I alway's preach about using heat to losen any rust on the projects i tackle.
Thank you very much. I was looking for that information all over the place and you explain it pretty well, thank you again.
Is it just me or does TTD look an awful lot like Orson Wells?
so good this video!
Excellent video. I feel like I'm at a buddy's house getting a top rate lesson on how to use this.
It’s not a dumb, you just backed into smart!
Guessing the front is even simpler with no parking break drum and shoes to worry about, 4 bolts off 4 bolts on
You do things like I do, always anticipating and fixing the little extras when you have a chance
The fluid is very clean, so no need to bleed it out, and the master cylinder should be safe
A Marine. Thank you for the sacrifices.
Got 70k miles out of the original set, so replacing with OEM which is a known quantity!
Sweet rig!
Is this even legal???
Thanks ok with apple too ?

so wait can this be used as a listening station
Did an oil change on the Trek Saturday, the cabin air filter followed by tire rotation. New oil filter and filled the engine with new oil, good to go. Monday afternoon, picked kids up from daycare and smelled oil... parked in the garage and saw smoke... Genius me forgot to put the oil fill cap back on 🙄. Luckily it was only 5 miles round trip, checked oil level and all was good AND cap was still in the engine bay. Spent 30 mins cleaning oil off EVERYTHING.
The precise measurement of the antenna legs is only critical if you are using the antenna to transmit because it determines the SWR (standing wave ratio) as it appears to the transmitter.
Any software working on Mac?
Are the rear brakes one the front brakes the same on this year of crosstreck? I need to replace both and am wondering
As far as rotors, no. Rear brake rotors have a drum as well for the emergency brake. Front rotors do not. Brake pads are different as well. Per subaruparts.com, the rear pads are OEM part number 26696FJ000, and fronts are p/n 26296FL032. Those would be for my make, model and year. They're not hard to do so I would certainly encourage you to give it a shot, but do please confirm with your dealer the right part numbers for your vehicle and don't just take my word for it :)
Excellent review
I have a MM Nomax tankbag and here I am looking for an alternative! It's a great bag and the build quality is superb. The design is well thought out so you can separate stuff in the bag in different zipped compartments. This prevents it becoming a 'lucky dip' when you try and find something. The carry straps work well as well. The reason I am looking to change is because you have to take it off the bike EVERY time as you cannot secure it and the securing strap setup becomes weary. If you are going off road Id say it's perfect because you are generally in isolated areas and never lose sight of the bike so you just leave it attached. I want something I can leave secured to the bike when I go into coffee shops etc. Just my humble opinion.
Hahah. I love your narration!
Why in Hades didn't you include a link to the Apes video???
❤❤❤❤❤
The info about the lock ring is priceless. I tend to prefer a handlebar bag (giant loop's) and been thinking about those 'fairing' side bags from wunderlich. That would probably be plenty of capacity for me but there isn't a place to put larger items. I own mosko's backcountry panniers and can confirm they are bombproof and extremely well thought out, albeit kinda heavy.
cant find "RF analyzer" on the play store 😢
you mentioned insulate your attic? are you going to use Fiberglass or rockwool? I would recommend rockwool it works better and if the attic catches on fire the rockwool won't burn. don't do the foam spray if it catches on fire the fire stays inside the foam and causes a toxic gas. I put Rockwool in my dads old house before I sold it. it added so much more value because it creates a great sound barrier. as for the blinds on a energy wise thing use pull down shades they block out heat and cold much more than blinds. how I start projects around my home I start with the low hanging fruit items. go from easy to tough because you learn small tips and tricks when you get to the bigger things and your list goes down quick. I hope your dogs join you in on the repairs. I know my cat like to supervise with instructions from my wife. haha! have an awesome day!
I should have followed your advice i had a wire come loose and had to disassemble the entire console
Great vid, can you tell me how do you remove the blank knockout placeholders ?
Your a liar! I looked on Amazon and those radios are well over $500....NOT 40 bucks but please show me a place I can get it for that price and i will buy 10! You can buy the screen protector for $40 but the radios are way more than that! The second gen of that 7300 is over $2k
@kahkahaseruveni9124 1 gün önce I had problem about my synology nas And Steve Baker Technical Support Engineer write me about my problem that We are sorry to hear that your DS218 has to be reset. This is likely caused by an issue in the DSM operating-system. We understand that you are worried about losing your data. Please rest assured, your data should not be affected by the reset as the OS and data are stored in separate partitions on the drives. When re-installing the OS, the system should normally not touch the data-partitions of your drives. I beleived and i did what he said now all my data erased omg i shocked after sir Steve Baker dissepeared i am alone there is nothing in my hands Synology is regret bad nas choose qnap there isnt good support for problemss !!!
👍
Keep up the videos, they are helpful, interesting and sprinkled with your excellent host commentary thanks!
This is inspiring, thanks for the idea and all videos, do you consider adding “useful lights” to the area of the car?
Excellent work
Been using the RTL SDR with just the included antenna kit. Even after following the instructions on their website I can't pick up jack s--t other than FM. This thing is a dumb waste of money.
You either need to turn up your antenna gain, get an external antenna, and/or see if there are any repeaters in your area.
Nice
