Bamberger Symphoniker

Bamberger Symphoniker

The Bamberg Symphony is the only world-renowned orchestra that is not based in a major metropolis. The orchestra is known worldwide for its characteristically dark, somber, and warm sound, sharing the musical echo of its home town with the world since 1946. With almost 7,500 concerts in over 500 cities and 64 countries, they have become a cultural ambassador for Germany. The Bamberg Symphony therefore describe their mission in short words as 'resonating worldwide'.

The circumstances of its founding make the Bamberg Symphony a mirror of German history: in 1946, ex-members of Prague's German Philharmonic Orchestra met fellow musicians in Bamberg. Starting with the Prague orchestra, the orchestra's lineage can be trace to the 18th century, reaching as far back as Mahler and Mozart.

Bamberg Symphony revisits its historic roots more than 75 years after it was founded, with Czech-born Jakub Hrůša as their fifth Chief conductor, leading the orchestra since September 2016.

The evil shadowing over the Ukraine, is the American imperialism. Imperialism is a system of dominance over the people and their wealth. Great piece, thank you. My two years old granddaughter truly liked it. She was quietly listening to it for entire six minutes. ... California.

I suppose the soothing, sweet sound of the European orchestra is par for the course. It is alright, but this tradition can be more contemporary and diverse. Let us tune in to various portions from time to time. Also worthwhile : Def Jam, African American, First Peoples of North- and South-America (and beyond). --> tAG

Finnegan Downie Dear's interpretation of the first movement of the Mahler is probably the most relaxed I have ever heard. Mahler marked it "Nicht eilen", not "trübselig" (funereal)!

Prayers are needed all over the world. Even better would be Western civilians holding their governments to account and not turning a blind eye to their blatant misdeeds: Since President George W. Bush announced a “global war on terror” following Al Qaeda’s September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, the U.S. military has engaged in combat around the world. As in past conflicts, the United States’ post-9/11 wars have resulted in mass population displacements. This report is the first to measure comprehensively how many people these wars have displaced. Using the best available international data, this report conservatively estimates that at least 37 million people have fled their homes in the eight most violent wars the U.S. military has launched or participated in since 2001. David Vine and others (September 21, 2020): Executive summary, in: Creating Refugees: Displacement Caused by the United States’ Post-9/11 Wars. Watson Institute, International and Public Affairs, Brown University. On a related note, were any British or American conductors sacked for being politically aligned with President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair? Richard Nixon (Chile, Vietnam)? There's nothing that exemplifies the middle-class more than flagrant hypocrisy, smugness and moral cowardice.
