    CD32: already supported Jaguar: 2026 at earliest Sega CD: maybe 1-2 years 32X: already in experimental but not supported until I can get a real one to test with Sharp and ST are not planned at this point.

    Part of me wonders if the NeoGeo source code from Blastar's engine will be the backbone behind the NeoGeo itself? I say this because said engine is more powerful than SNK's own engine.

    The Scorpion engine is amazing. Question: is it possible in Scorpion to create a wider four-colour vertical strip for the background parallax layer - rather than one that's only 32 pixels wide? I would like to create a single, flat, repeating pattern in the background made out of 96 pixel-wide strips like in the Amiga version of Videokid. Only four colours are needed and I have OCS Amiga in mind.

    Thanks Midwinter, I appreciate the kind words. 96 pixels wide would need 6 sprites, which would use up 12 colors on the palette (three pairs of four color sprites = 12 colors). I would like to add support for that at some point but it's not currently supported.

I need only four colours for the entire background layer - it's a solid, brick wall, rather than a landscape (exactly like the background in the first level of "Myth - History in the Making") that's scrolling past slowly.     I've had to sadly put that on pause for now, I had some success getting the 32X frame buffer to display on emulation but it seems to not work well on real hardware. Whenever I can manage to get hold of my own 32X, I'll resume trying to make it a supported platform.

BTW: I found your older (2019) visual novel demos for Scorpion Engine. Are these still maintained/will they still work with the most recent version of Scorpion Engine?

    @@markbauermeister5449 I do maintain the unofficial demos (such as the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney ones), I can't absolutely guarantee that they will work with the very latest experimental but I'll check before making the next major release

    There are options for huds, the "Elf Spirit Hunters" full game project is maybe the best example to look at as it has a range of features (such as money, lives and power bars on the UI)

    I'm really getting desperate. I'm trying to adjust the camera so that it's not centered. No matter what I do I can't get it right. Can you help me or make a tutorial on how to set the camera so that the figure is not in the middle but far down?

    It's a little bit hard to explain, and I do need to make a proper editor for it. But you can use Display->SetCameraBox and something like * Box Up = -100 * Box Down = 100 (Adjust those values to get what you wanted)

    @@earok I'm trying to make a puzzle shooter. If you have no experience with the program it is very difficult to make something, but doable. At the moment I'm also trying to do some other things because there are hardly any tutorials. So far I've made a level with enemies that are supposed to kill you. Even that is proving difficult as it doesn't restart the level.

    Jaguar is planned for sure, which will probably be the last 68k platform supported on the engine. I may not start on it for a couple of years.

    downloaded, though the neogeo stuff i dont see the mame button. this is great work man, im gonna become a patreon. id love to see the neogeo tricks implemented. this is actually going to save me from writing it all in c which is lovely. cant wait to have a look at your code and see how things are done too. would it be feasible to support platforms like the atari lynx? very low ram etc but would be cool. ive been porting a j2me game to lynx and i have a "joeylynx" which writes to carts, wanna get something similar for neogeo soon. thanks for such a cool product.

    Thus far all of his engines targets are using a 68000 CPU. The Atari Lynx is 65SC02 based. I wouldn't hold my breath.

    @@markbauermeister5449 Well, not exactly 68000-based, but it had a 68000 in it. The supposed purpose was just to get developers started with the platform (and for ports, although this use wasn't mentioned IIRC), and after developers were experienced they should use the GPU (and, as in the case of Doom and others, DSP) 32-bit RISC CPU core as the main CPU(s). The 68000 would then be used for bootstrapping and "bookkeeping" duties, like handling controllers.

    @@markbauermeister5449 The Atari ST(e) and Falcon would be excellent other additions, but the baseline ST has no sprite engine nor blitter, and the Mega and STe are fairly rare, and the Falcon remarkably so.

    Now I'm conflicted. A Neo Geo clone is probably less than a Neo Geo CD system.. but, it's easier (and cheaper) to manufacture a CD based game..

    Scorpion isn't specifically designed for turn based RPGs, but that doesn't meant it couldn't handle it. Someone with the drive, the imagination, and enough experience using the engine to understand how to get the most out of it could do a turn based RPG for sure. Scorpion is an ongoing project with a long todo list, over time more features will be added that will make it easier to develop games for a wider variety of genres, including turn based RPG.

    From memory, that's how it was - as a rule I had to finish the AOD last because that triggers the end of the level.

    Might be possible - I was using ECWOLF and from memory, it was possible to insert SOD bosses into Wolfenstein 3D and vice versa

    I wish some clever person would remake Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 for the Mega Drive using the Scorpion Engine, to make it much closer to the Amiga version. The MD is more than capable. I think the original MD version was rushed back in the day.

    Hi, I was curious to know if Scorpion Engine supports dithering via composite? I was interested in experimenting with producing extended color demos that use artifact color via NTSC composite output (6-bit * 3 colors = 18 bit max color), but without any HAM or other dithering modes.

    Dither is a gfx technic and not a gfx mode so you can do it on SE with no problem

    Scorpion won't support SNES because a 68K processor is a requirement. I believe that the NESMaker team may be working on a SNES version of their engine.

    That should be possible. Scorpion supports dialog menus, there's also a rough Phoenix Wright demo in the unofficial demos repository.

    I apologise for not being able to support Mac yet, I hope to be able to do it someday. Some people have had success in using Parallels or Wine for Scorpion development on Mac or Linux.
