    Would you care to tell where's the Camshaft position Sensor located, my OBD2 Scanner show that I need to change it, I have exactly the same car but I can't find it's location.

  • @SocketsAndSideburns

    If you have the D4F 722 there is no camshaft sensor. The engine uses a flywheel sensor which is essentially the same as a crankshaft position sensor. Perhaps that is what your reader is referring too. The sensor is located near the thermostat looking down into the flywheel.

    Maybe a good idea to mention that if you remove the rubber seals from the ends of the spark plug leads for testing the leads, be careful because mine were old and brittle. I broke one on each of two leads but I put the rubber seals back in because the coil pack was working ok at the time. Next time I came to remove it the rubber seals stayed on the spark plugs. Probably best to put the leads back on without the rubber seals if you have to put them back on after breaking them? I know need to find a way to get the rubber seals off the spark plugs!!

    I will leave this comment here in case anyone has similar issues in the future. My radio was having a beeping sound every time it was turned on. It beeps every few seconds for about a minute or 2 and it goes off. I tried everything but nothing worked. I even changed the fuse and nothing. Well, it turned out, that one of the cables (yellow one) was disconnected from the back. I suspect during the recent MOT because it started right after. I had to pull the radio out that's how I noticed the disconnected cable. Anyway, I reconnected the cable, and the beep continued, so I pressed help 6 until it prompted me to enter the code. After entering the code, I helped 6 and the word "other" appeared on the screen, I pressed and held it two more times before I was taken back to BBC 1. This has been doing my head in for the past few days. I'm glad I was able to resolve it, thanks to this video. One more thing. The visual screen was completely blank while this issue was going on. I would only see the clock on displace but not the radio station information.

    I don't know if you can help. My radio isn't asking for a code, however, when turned on, it beeps every few seconds for a few minutes and turns off. The same thing would happen again when I turn it back on. I have a 2001 Clio. I can't find any information online about this specific issue.

    Hi, I saw a lot of videos on your channel, i have a Renault Grand Scenic 3, 1.6 Benzin +LPG (it's a new system)81kW K4M engine code 2009. The coolant level is not decreasing. When driving the car in heavy traffic, the coolant temperature is normal. However, when I enter the highway and the speed exceeds 90 km/h, for example, around 110 km/h, the engine coolant temperature rises immediately, the vehicle's fan kicks in, and the temperature returns to its normal state. I'm afraid to exceed 90 km/h. What could be the cause of this overheating?

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburns12 күн бұрын

    This is a very odd scenario. The air rushing over the radiator should be far greater than the fan can provide. I can't see the fan cooling the engine more than the inrush of air at that speed. Is there anything obstructing airflow over the radiator at the front?

    Good morning I would like to ask if you could recommend a replacement oil for NFJ from the video. Supposedly, the replacement was NFP, but it is no longer available. The vehicle is a Renault Twingo 2 from 2009. The gearbox is JB1525. The engine is marked D4F772, the technical type of the vehicle is CN0A. There are companies that recommend Fuchs Sintofluid 75W80 oil. However, some people on the Internet claim that Total Gear 8 75W80 can be used. I will be grateful for any answer Best regards

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburns23 күн бұрын

    Hello, yes I see that that oil has been discontinued and I will put a note in the description about it and leave a link to the new recommended oil. Tranself NFJ has now been replaced by Tranself NFX 75w it is approved for J type gearboxes. As I say in the video you could use an API GL-4 oil at the same grade also.

    Here because at 145k miles, it’s possibly needing checked on our 8-valve 1.2 production year 2000. Haynes manual says it’s not a scheduled maintenance item. This I can understand, as very often as long as they are ‘loose enough’, no end of tinkering with these makes a darn if a difference to a lot of engines (not talking specialist cars here). It’s a bit hard to know with some of this stuff, three examples being: cam belts, recommended at 70k miles but dare you wait, Haynes says 40k miles intervals; automatic transmissions’ ‘lifelong transmission fluid’ they have said for years don’t change it (terrible advice in most but not all cases); manual gearbox oil definitely can do with changing before 70k miles, it can be the difference between seeming like all synchromesh has gone, and everything working fine. Thanks anyway, take care all. [Edit: the D7F 8-valve engine from y2k, is 0.10mm inlet, and 0.20mm exhaust].

    Perfect video, incredibly useful. I'm trying to remove the coil pack from the car, however the T30s hold as hell. I have noticed oily mess on the top of the plugs, is it ok? I'm wondering where the leaks might be from.

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburns23 күн бұрын

    It really depends how much oil you have. The most likely place will be the spark plug tube seals. Watch my rocker cover removal and refit videos where I replace them.

  • @TheWitcz
    @TheWitcz23 күн бұрын

    @@SocketsAndSideburns Yes, tube seals seem to be the cause. In the meantime, I changed the coil pack for a new one successfully, however, my engine still vibrates clearly on LPG (with P1305 and P1314 errors). Injectors might be end-of-life, so I need to investigate further.

    Hi, today when I turned on my ignition (same model) there were vibrations in the engine and the engine light on the dash was flashing. Would this be the coil pack?

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburns23 күн бұрын

    The vibrations will be the engine misfiring most likely. The flashing engine light is "exhaust gas monitoring" likely set off by a large amount of fuel in the exhaust. You will need to get a code reader and see what codes are set.

    Hello there, thanks for this amazing video! I have a D4Ft 1.2 TCe engine. Intercooler and intake pipes full soaked with oil, also going inside the throttle body. Turbo was changed, compression on the rings is good. I will replace this week the valve stem seals. I was thinking of cleaning the rocker cover, is there no valve inside? Just chambers to clean? What would a blocked rocker cover cause? Because I'm having a little of oily white smoke after idling for 30 seconds.

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburns23 күн бұрын

    I am not sure with the turbo engine as I have never taken one apart. But why was the turbo changed? I would think a failing turbo a far more likely cause of all that oil. The pipes should have been cleaned when the turbo was replaced.

    Thank you, brother! It's a very straight-forward and easy to understand. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to car engines. This year I noticed that my Clio's fuel consumption was increased as compared to the previous year. Also, the RPM at idling was over 1000, although it used to be 600-700 RPM at idling. My gas pedal also became very hard (my English is not that good, sorry). I had to press the gas pedal HARD to move the car, otherwise, it would simply "shut down" when I start releasing the clutch pedal. Last month I sent my Clio to a detailed overhaul, and told them about the problem. They changed brake pads and stuff, fuel pump and several other parts, but the problem wasn't solved. When I told them about it few days later, they simply told me "It's because we changed the fuel pump." I came home disappointed. I called my dad, who's a professional truck driver. He said, "It's the throttle valve, it has to be cleaned and they simply didn't bother to do it!" So, I googled about cleaning the throttle valve, and came across your video. I followed your instructions to the letter, including the brand of the throttle cleaner. And I did it, successfully! The problem is now solved, RPM is back to 600-700, gas pedal is now soft as it should be, and the fuel consumption is back to normal as well. Not only that my car had to re-learn the values, but also I had to re-learn to press the gas pedal GENTLY, lol :) And let me tell you: my throttle body was SO DIRTY, it took me a few hours to clean it. The one in your video is not even close to what mine used to look like before I cleaned it. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video! Officially, you're my hero of the year! Keep up the good work!

    Is it unusual to have the cylinders numbered in this order, with number 1 closest to the flywheel/transmission and 4 closest to timing belt? The general wisdom online seems to be that it’s usually numbered the other way around, with timing belt side being the “front” of the engine and cylinder numbering starting from there. Is this is a Renault thing, to have it backwards? Or maybe I’m just confused and my lack of mechanical experience is showing.

  • @SocketsAndSideburns

    It is unusual, Renault do it as do some other manufactures. You just have to always know your cylinder order when doing things like this.

    I just checked the pcv pipes and they had the mayo. Used a wire to poke the hole in the back of the rocker cover and clean some more. Am I right in thinking if I can't blow air through that hole the pcv system is clogged or is there a one way valve or something?

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburnsАй бұрын

    If you have removed the rocker cover then yes you should be able to blow air though it the is no valve. If it is still on the engine then it will be like blowing into a bottle, the only way out for the air will be past the gaskets and they may start to leak.

  • @SocketsAndSideburns
    @SocketsAndSideburnsАй бұрын

    There is no valve as such to go bad, my guess would be that the oil is getting into the combustion from somewhere else if it is significant. No you cannot do that, you will have a vacuum leak on the inlet unless you blank the pipe and the gases from the open rocker port could potentially end up in the cabin, not to mention emission concerns.
