  Maybe to some but I’ve had plenty of rough country lifts on many vehicles and it’s not the best by far but for the price to some it’s plenty for the kind of wheeling they do.

  Yea the shield is to guard the filter from engine heat. The stock air scoop funnels the air from the front.

  So... you're making a heat shield out of a material known for conducting heat well, the shroud is facing the side which the air comes in, and the unshrouded portion is facing the engine?
