    For those who cant loosen the connection (like myself) pour a kettle of boiling water over the bolt. Thermal expansion will help loosen it. I had tried wd40 and it didnt help but pouring boiling water over it for like a minute, then using 2 wrenches worked like a breeze! You dont need a new grill just physics!

    Is there a griddle that works for the compact?

  • @WorldOfWeber
    @WorldOfWeberАй бұрын

    There is indeed - www.wowbbq.co.uk/weber-traveler-griddle - the standard Traveler griddle fits both the Compact and the big version, as one half of the grate is the same size on both models. That half of the grate can we swapped with this griddle.

    Use a "never used" jerry can to fill up the water pan. Be sure to mark it well that it is to be used for "water only". Also, if you ever plan to hang your ribs on hooks, get the largest smoker. It consumes more fuel in the long run, but the advantages outweigh the cost. On short cooks, lump charcoal is a game changer in flavor.

    Good question. Traveler Compact is good if you want to store it away for long periods. Other than that, the grilling space is not too much in it

    Finally. I remember testing the larger traveller. One main issue was…. I couldn’t travel with it 😂. This is much better for Europe. Hope it does well because I love the design and innovative way it folds.

    This is the only one video on KZread showing this compact model... I want one... I ordered the larger one and then when I went to the store to pick it up, they had the compact one. I thought the larger one was far too big for me. The smaller one cost more as it was not on sale as the larger one was, and so I decided to wait until I can find the Compact model on sale. It is really just perfect for me as one person alone. I would not be carrying it anywhere, it would just be on my deck, but I could bring it inside in Canadian Winter instead of leaving it outside.

    I just bought this yesterday and did a test run. I cooked one spare rib using two Meater+ thermometers, which I attached in between the bones. I followed the Weber Heat Controller manual setup and barbecuing instructions for low-and-slow cooking, and used Weber brand briquettes. It took 4 hours and 30 minutes for the internal temperature of the meat to rise to 203°F. The grill temperature was maintained between 225-270°F. The ribs looked great but turned out to be dry. I’m not sure what went wrong. I’ve been a Weber Kettle heavy user since 2004.”

    Not long at all - about 15 minutes that time. Important to ensure hitting an internal temp of 74C, so don't necessarily cook to time, cook to temp :-)

    This is my second one. We have it outside the garage door exposed to the elements yearound kzread.infoUgkxreK_FUQ74_bylFqCr3y2MHqL3u78-b3r Direct sunlight deteriorated the plastic on the thermostat and severe winds blew the lid off. We found it about an acre away. I bought a new one and I saved the good parts from the old one as spares. Got about 8 years out of the first one.

    F**k Weber! They continue to bite the hands that feed them by downgrading their Spirit II grills, first by discontinuing colors, and most recently by discontinuing iGrill 3 compatibility. I have sworn by Weber grills for approximately 50 of my 71 years, but now at my age, the last grill I will probably buy will not be a Weber.

    Yes - there is something called a "Vortex" which does the same thing. It's been around for several years. This method for doing wings is very popular. I personally prefer the "crack the lid" method - piling the charcoal on one side and cooking the wings on the other side. I use a half-moon griddle (available from SnS) placed on the charcoal grate which guides the cold air to the area under the coals. Top vent closed. Cracked lid guides hot air through the chicken and out the cracked lid - and cooks both sides of the wings at the same time - no need to flip the wings! The griddle catches the chicken grease to keep your kettle clean. Thanks for posting.

    Great advice. The Weber Heat Controller is like the vortex and the diffuser plate makes it great for low n slow cooks too
