Hi, understood . Here when diameter is small we tend to call them screws, and when diameter gets bigger it turns to bolt. 😁

you should remove the fill bolt first because if you drain it and the fill bolt won't come out you have a problem.

You are right, also it improves drain as air enters to replace drained oil space. Normally bolts can be opened, but mentioned situation would seize driving for short period.

Don't know if you still around 2012- but my bike seems to have the oil window closed up (removed) just a black plug in its slot from where the location of your unit is; any suggestions on how to check the oil levels with out the oil window?

Mielenkiintoista. Putsarista kanava kaasuttimeen joka antaa öljytöntä bensaa lmukanavan ja venttiilin kautta sylinteriin. Puhdistaisin pois ja seuraisin tuleeko uutta. Mistäs se voisi tulla, venttiliohjurin kumin kautta, mutta luulisi savuttavan, ja kulkeutuisiko ilmanputsariin? Pitäisikö silloin olla jo venttiilivuoto että puhaltaisi kaasarille päin ?Tällaisia ajatuksia ja pohdintoja.

Colder conditions use lower viscosity eg 10- and in higher temperatures ( ambient) use 20-. Just make sure it is for motorcycles with wet clutch ( eg it is in that oil). Normally stated on the can/bottle.

Do you mean final gear, on rear. Look the filling hole until enough. See video. If you mean motor oil, its mentioned in text and see sight window for final adjustment.

Have you any Virago group in the facebook? That is often useful source to find some parts as some peoples may have extras. Yamaha dealer, e-bay, Amazon etc Does it help?

Just looked, enter ”Virago 535 oil filter cover” and hit search in Crome and look ebay results, plenty of covers available.

Well this bike is harder to maintain. Oil filter, undertank air filter. I think nedd to reconsider on getting this bike.

@@jarmojarvinen1585 I have a bike that not require oil filter & the air filter compartment is on left under seat. While battery on right. Easier. Hihi. But it has other limitation which is no fuel gauge. :-p

Right it does, but dont be surprised if you find one more. There is one casette type on left lower side, access needs more work and not cleaned at every oil change, pretty hidden.

hi so where i am its hot so i have 10w 40 in the bike and the engine gets way to hot the virago manual says 20w 40 soo thats good ?

Hi, if you live in "warm" country, eg do not run bike close to freezing point, I would use this 20W40 oil.

Great video, this helped me a lot. What is the difference between filter 2gv-14451-00 you mentioned and 2nt-14451-00? My bike is from 2001 and there is the other filter recommended.

Quick question, does the bike have to be perfectly upright or can it be on the stand leaning towards the left a bit to fill the oil? I see you are still answering comments made a few months ago on a 8 year old video. You are a legend!

Hi, I would say that it does not matyer in what position the bike is during filling, but you need to get in oil enough. BUT have it on flat place and in upright position when checking the level of the oil 😊. Right?
