Palliative care is also called comfort care for pain and symptom management. You can still receive life-prolonging medication for the disease. Palliative care can include mental health support as well as physical. Hospice care also provides comfort but only begins after stopping treatment for the disease and wants comfort only treatment. I didn’t have insurance when I got my diagnosis for terminal cancer. My social worker said that they signed me up for disability which then automatically qualifies me for Medicaid. They told me it would cost me nothing for the hospital bills and for hospice. I started looking on KZread and many people are saying that they will put a lien on my house? How dies this work?

My daddy is 88 yrs old.He has a 20 yr history of TIA’s and had an ischemic stroke in 2020. Between the ischemic stroke and his advanced stage Alzheimer’s he has just been accepted to hospice. From the videos I’ve watched on Utube I see it takes a special type of person to work in the hospice roles. I already feel a sense of relief knowing they are going to help me get daddy’s needs met that I can’t do myself. I am his oldest daughter and I was daddy’s full time caregiver for the last 7 years until it was damaging my health and it became absolutely necessary for daddy to have 24 hr care😢. I appreciate the help w daddy so I can be able to be free to support my 74 yr old husband who has his own chronic health issues.

As someone who has worked in both , i can tell you that the for-profits basically embezzle money away from patient care minimizing time and resources given to patients and families and pay their nurses less and work them to burnout with higher turnover. Non-profits attract the best more experienced nurses who enjoy a better working environment and pay and soend less time awake at night wondering if they did the right things for patients. The evil influence of greed has attracted for-profit corporatization because they can see a chance to bleed money away from excellent care and provide “decent” care in its place- just decent enough to avoid complaints fines and legal trouble

My father was 90, NAH approached me at the hiopital. He had gone into a coma. Talked me into taking him to Swenson location. He laid there for 6 days, all seemed well. On the 7th day I was told he had to go. He had visits from housekeeper, etc. Said he was too wealthy and should go, or pay 700 per day . These people are all about the money.

My best friend is currently taking care of her mother in law while she passes. Hospice has been involved, but it’s extremely different than what I thought. I thought they were there around the clock assisting the family. She is literally in the last phase and will be passing very soon. However, I really thought the Hospice professionals would stay there for the end. Rather than just an hour each day. I’m not trying to sound negative about them, they have been such a blessing. I’m just confused about what happens for the last few hours. Thank you very much.

As a patient who has been in hospice care and palliative care, this video doesn't inform anyone of anything other than we can get pain meds. That is all I get from my current palliative care. As far as I can tell the only difference is that on hospice a nurse came to me instead of me going to the office every 45 to 60 days. In neither case does anyone listen to my concerns(other than pain control.) I am not impressed at all.

Hospice nurses play a critical role in managing the medications and symptoms of both inpatient and home care hospice patients. They work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement a care plan that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. One of the key responsibilities of hospice nurses is to manage the medications of their patients. This involves closely monitoring the patient's symptoms and adjusting medications as needed to manage pain, nausea, shortness of breath, and other symptoms that may be affecting the patient's quality of life. Hospice nurses also educate patients and their families about the medications that are being prescribed and how to take them properly. In addition to managing medications, hospice nurses also play a critical role in managing the symptoms of their patients. They use a variety of techniques and interventions to help manage symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life. This may include providing oxygen therapy, administering nebulizer treatments, providing wound care, and providing comfort measures such as massage and relaxation techniques. For inpatient hospice patients, hospice nurses are responsible for fine-tuning medications and symptom management in the inpatient facility. They work closely with the patient's interdisciplinary team to ensure that the patient is receiving the appropriate medications and symptom management strategies to help them maintain their comfort and quality of life. For home care hospice patients, hospice nurses visit the patient's home to monitor their symptoms, provide medications, and offer support and education to the patient and their family. They work closely with the patient's primary caregiver to ensure that the patient is receiving the appropriate medications and symptom management strategies to help them maintain their comfort and quality of life at home. Overall, hospice nurses are a vital part of the hospice care team. They play a critical role in managing the medications and symptoms of hospice patients, fine-tuning medication at inpatient facilities if necessary, and helping patients and their families to navigate the end-of-life journey with dignity and grace.

    - Hospice enables patients with incurable illness to live fully and comfortably until the end of their life journey with dignity and respect. - Nathan Adelson Hospice offers physical, emotional, social, and spiritual care to patients, which can reduce the practical burdens that affect the whole family. - The main medical requirement for hospice is a physician's prognosis that the patient has a terminal illness with six months or less to live, but patients can still live longer than six months. - Hospice enables patients to live out their days as fully and comfortably as possible, with dignity and respect. - One of the most critical questions to ask is when to begin hospice. - Hospice is for people who have a limited life expectancy, often facing complex health care needs.

Fernanda had lost her mother of cancer and she had feel about her dying. She cried every day about her mom going to the Mormon Church every Sunday mass and Saturday night mass in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the San Diego Mormon Temple. She was Mormon over 40 years in Brazil. She cried for her every day and really missed her mother so much.

😢 an aged arthritic body is cripplingly painful. People just think of arthritis as a 'word' that old ppl hobble around about. Aging is tough on the body mind and spirit; and takes much courage and inner strength.

My daughter is a palliative care doctor, Spr (specialist registrar), here in Dublin Ireland, I cant think of more noble, rewarding work than helping someone leave this world peacefully and help their family through that too. Palliative care and hospice care are intertwined and patient specific (I also work with cancer patients, though not medical). These people are amazing, compassionate people...and I'm not biased at all🤣
