    As for the episode: Fantastic performance from the defense, the 2nd line and the bottom 6. Backlund and the 1st line however frankly disappointed. 1. The PP Dowd (83ov, TWF) replaced Perfetti (89/88ov, SNP) on the first unit, while rookie Quenneville (81ov, SNP) and sophomore Bhowmik (81ov, GRN) were added to the 2nd unit instead of Tomasino (86ov, PLY). While the drop from 30% to 17% is unfortunate, the PP should be right back on top next season, as the young guys' overalls improve and compensate for the offensive talent we lost. It's disappointing though that none of the returning players (especially Kennedy, Eklund, Svensson) could carry the load and all saw their PP production plummet. One small change could be Quenneville to the top unit in favor of Dowd, as 3 snipers (Kennedy, Patrick, Perfetti), a playmaker (Svensson) and a defenseman (Mills/Morrissey/Werenski) was the winning formula in the past. As things stands, Patrick is also the only LH player on PP1, which could be an issue. 2. The PK League worst is quite concerning, given the fact that our best players are on it. It really hasn't been great since Eklund came onboard. Probably fine to start the playoffs with it as is, but one change could be to look into Bhowmik (big body, gritty, amazing defense) for Eklund if it struggles. Perhaps next season we should hand the PK to the young guys/bottom 6 as well and let the 1st line focus on offense only. Stoll for example is an amazing bottom 6 player and could probably become Pinto's replacement in time. 3. There should be a rotation between Backlund, Bhowmik and Stanton on the 3rd line depending on who performs well. Sure, Stanton had a great regular season while Backlund disappointed, but for some reason I don't trust Stanton's low overall, amazing hands/bad everything else to consistently produce offense in the playoffs. Still think the optimal 3rd line would be Backlund - Pinto - Bhowmik and should be tried at some point if we hit a wall. 4. What a juicy matchup against Colorado and Jesper Wallstedt in the 1st round. With the salary cap issues fixed, perhaps we should have kept him afterall haha 😬 Can't wait for the next one, thank you again GM and have a great weekend!

    1. Yeah I'm not too sure what to do for the PP. I hope it won't be a problem next year because of overall jumps from Stempniak, Quenneville, Dowd, etc. But I can definitely make some slight tweaks in the playoffs maybe Backlund with his shooting goes up? 2. A HUGE disappointment of a Penalty Kill. I thought maybe our strong defensive core could help us out but we may need some full-time penalty killers. 3. I will definitely be switching up the lines if need be. Hopefully, I won't have to touch them too much like last year. Appreciate all the kind words and thoughts Alex! You really help the series progress and your time is much appreciated.

    Thank you for the great episode Kronos! 😃 On the captain's trade: Perfetti was: 1) 31yo at the time of the move, 2) Still a good player but starting to decline, 3) Earning a massive 9.6M salary. The whole point was not to trade him for a top 5 pick because that would be highly unrealistic and no organization would do that. He was thought of as a vet heading to a new team to help them take the next step, not as a franchise piece. As you said, the real-world scenario/ trade condition would be to slide the pick to next year, if this year's was top 5. And there was always a good chance of that happening, since Pittsburgh's an average to bad team looking to take the next step. Ottawa traded for Debrincat once they knew they had the 7th overall pick. There was no uncertainty involved with that move. The 1st in the Chychrun trade was conditional (top 5 protected) and ended up being #12. Even in the Duchene trade, the pick was protected, however, Ottawa liked Tkachuk in 2018 so they drafted him, but then started a rebuild without their 1st in the following draft, so they were forced to give up #4 (Byram) as a result. The point is that no rebuilding team would trade #8 + unprotected 1st for 31yo Perfetti. It'd be different if the move had been 8th + top 5 pick for 24yo 88ov RH Mills or 21yo, 99 points scoring Svensson. Then there would be no argument, as Pittsburgh would have gotten a young, bonafide superstar in return for a future superstar. For 31yo, 9.6M-making Perfetti, it's just too much of a fleece. It sucks that EA can't program a better and more complete Franchise Mode and our GM certainly shouldn't be penalized for it, but in this case it's too egregious. There are 2 solutions, one of which you invoked yourself in the video. We can: 1) abide by the real-world scenario and trade the Pens' their top 5 pick back for an unprotected 1st next year (which would suck for us, but be the most realistic scenario). Or, 2) we can keep the top 5 pick, but at least give them some value for the foundational piece they're losing. We have an embarrassment of riches with or without a top 5 pick. We come out of every draft with med-elites prospects because we take advantage of how scouting is programmed in the game. The pieces we'd be trading out have no shot at cracking our roster or would be replaced in the very next draft, where as Pittsburgh might not draft a med-elite outside of the top 5 for the next 5 years because the AI doesn't take advantage of scouting like we do. So in the end, whether we swap their top 5 pick this year for next year's (which could be equally as high) or trade them Pyatt + Rielly + Nikulin + our late 1st to keep it, we still come out massively on top.

    After thinking about this debacle for a while now, I think I agree with you. It's just too much of a fleece no matter how hard I tried to not make it one. It sucks we can't invoke protection on trades like this as the player but I do think moving this first for next year's is the most realistic thing to do as Pittsburg would have protected their 1st round pick.

    Great episode Kronos! The team is doing good and might perform even better once it has gelled in the second half of the season 😃 Questions/suggestions: 1. Are we heading into the PO with Silovs or will we look for a better rental/starter at the deadline? 2. Is G Canzanello playing in the AHL? 3. Quite bothered that Pittsburgh is giving us a top 2/guarantee top 5 pick on top of the 8th from last draft. It's obviously not our GM's fault (great trade in fact), but Perfetti/Targaryen were supposed to help the take the next step and that clearly didn't happen. Pittsburgh desperately needs help and likely would have worked in some condition/protection for the pick. Since that's not an option in the game, let's give them a portion of the value they'll lose in a franchise piece. F Pyatt + G Rielly + D Nikulin + WPG 1st (25-32ov) for PIT 7th round pick. None of those pieces are guaranteed a role with us, but could be integral to the Pens' turnaroud (just as a franchise player would). 4. Can we take a look at Pittsburgh and Buffalo's lineups? 5. We don't need anything upfront, but could definitely use a boost on defense (and goaltending?). Big Nic Hague out of Toronto for a 2nd-3rd/equivalent value would be the perfect partner for Kreutzer for a long PO run. Take care and see you in the next one!

    Early lineup/pro scouting suggestions: 1. Backlund's potential has unfortunately dropped from low elite to low top-9, which means he's pretty much capped at 83ov (and might regress). Still a great player and an awesome signing, but the main concern is that he's a shooter with minimal hands/passing, which might cannibalize Patrick's goal total if they play on the same line. It'd be different if Backlund retained is potential, as there'd be a chance to see his passing/hands improve and his overall rating increase. Since that's not the case, we should prioritize the 3 times 40+ goal scorer (with x factor!) and give Backlund his own line to audition and score on. 2. Quenneville or Bhowmik would be better options for the 2nd line for different reasons. Quenneville because he can complement the skill of Patrick/Dowd and would compete for the Calder, playing with those 2. Bhowmik because he would bring grit to the line + find space and do the dirty work for his linemates. Moving one of the young guys up also balances the forward core. As of now, we have a clear top 6 and a clear bottom 6, where as in the past we had a balanced top 9 with the likes of Tomasino tied to Pinto's hip. 3. Speaking of Bhowmik, we should extend him now to avoid any shenanigans. He grew from 75ov to 80ov and is an important part of the future. 4. One of the reasons why goalies have developped VERY slowly in Winnipeg and thrived elsewhere (Helmersson, Carter, etc.) is the lack of prime opportunities, as the grow very fast when played in the NHL (Konowalchuk-MIN, Helmersson-DAL, etc.). As things stand, with have a glut of goalies at both levels, including 3 med elite battling for icetime in the AHL. That makes no sense. One of those 3 may very well be the long term solution in net and we might never find out because they aren't given a legitimate chance to play. We should trade both UPL and Milic to teams that need help in net and start with Silovs/Gundersen in the NHL, Rielly/Canzanello in the AHL. Gundersen is the oldest/best overall of the bunch of med elites Gs, but perhaps the one with the least upside. He would get the first 20 games as the backup, then be sent down to the AHL in favor of Rielly for the next 20. Then, Canzanello would backup from game 41 to the TDL where stats would be compared and decisions could be made. 5. While playing the young guys, we should aggressively scout the goalie market throughout the year. Not necessarily for a long term solution, but for a 1-3 years bridge (a la Wallstedt) until one of them is ready to take the reigns. 6. One of the keys to a ~30% PP over the past 2 seasons has been having 2 balanced units. Despite the losses of Perfetti and Tomasino, we should aim to make as little changes as possible to the PP.

  • @Kronos_12
    @Kronos_127 күн бұрын

    1. Agreed... Didn't see that he dropped in potential. But he can definitely still command the third line with his stats 2. I think I'm leaning towards Quenneville for the 2nd line but of course if we struggle line changes can be made accordingly and Bhowmik will be the next man up. 4. While I agree with the premise (that we need to prioritize some goaltending development) I just think a 74 overall backup is too low to be successful in the NHL. I don't want to risk them performing poorly and hurting their potential and possibly overall for the future. If they struggle in their limited games in the NHL I don't want that hurting their future progression. But we can definitely sub them in for some games

  • @alexanderp4107
    @alexanderp41076 күн бұрын

    @Kronos_12 The idea is that all 3 G prospects under contract will not play in Winnipeg long term. At some point, at least one will have to be traded, so it'd be wise to start speeding up their development with NHL time and gather stats on them. While 74 seems low, it's not for goalies (or grinders, as we saw with Bhowmik). There are certain types of players that need NHL time to grow and goalies definitely are one. For example, the year we traded for Wallstedt, Konowalchuk backed up Blomqvist as a 77ov, put up unimpressive stats, but went on to grow to 90ov. By giving each prospect 20 games or so to backup, they'd realistically play 4 or 5 of those before being sent down. It'd unclutter the position (with the other 2 getting AHL icetime) and would hardly be enough to affect their potential. Gundersen for example is 23yo. If not now, when?

    Thank you for the episode Kronos! Absolutely masterful offseason. A++ The big trade was perfect and as realistic as can be given the circumstances. However, FA is where the GM really shone. The Backlund, Stanton, Stoll (WOW what a find!!!), Jones and UPL signings were all outstanding. Very creative/out of the box thinking, as all three forwards are big, less than 27yo, we're not stealing stars from other teams by bringing them in and their combined salary is slightly less than Perfetti's. Just brilliant.

    FA pro suggestions: 1. The big trade: Perfetti + Targaryen to a team that needs a top 6C and defensive help for picks or an NHL-ready forward - Perfetti is too old and makes too much $$ to return a top 5 pick, which is a guaranteed superstar on ELC. However, picks 6 to 20 + another 1st next year or a young forward (78-83ov winger or center) that is expandable on their current team and doesn't cost too much salary wise would be perfect. If we go the picks route, it would give us a ton of flexibility for trades (assets + cap space). And if we go the NHL-ready player's route it'd be a cheaper top-9 replacement with upside right away. It could also be a 3-way trade, where Perfetti goes to a team that needs a veteran C for picks and those picks are then used to acquire a forward from an organization with an excess of them (think Arizona when they bounced us last year). Since Patrick can play C or W, there's no restriction on the position or type of player coming back. 2. On top of the big trade, the GM will have to be nimble on his feet and find at least another NHL forward (77-82ov) via the draft, trade or FA on league-minimum salary or close to it for the 3rd line. 3. Stempniak @7.5M x 8 is not a bad contract. Dmen are not getting any cheaper and in time, he'll grow to be 86ov+. Great top pairing D and 2-times cup champion D at 21yo. Let's lock him up (and Bhowmik too!). 4. Even with the acquired cap space, Kennedy should be qualified and only locked up between the offseason and pre-season when his demands come down to 11.5M-12M x 8. If he's still asking for 20M × 8 by pre-season, then we should sign him for 11.5M x 1 and immediately start working on an extension. 5. A cheap tandem goalie (1-2M) will do the trick until we figure the position out (like we did when we traded for Wallstedt out of Minnesota). Unless there's a starter available for a reasonable price in FA (i.e. 86-90ov @6-8M)), we can head into the season with Silovs and said tandem goalie. 6. Lastly, we should aim to keep our cap flexibility to a max and limit the amount of extra signings in FA. This year, it might not be a bad strategy to head into pre-season with the bare minimum of 12F, 6D, 2G and adjust from there.

    1. I 100% agree that if Perfetti goes it has to be for probably multiple firsts. In EA there's likely no way we get an actual good value deal (simply based off how high 1st round picks are valued) so I don't even know if I can scoop 2 firsts for Perfetti even though he's worth that. Likely, this trade will look bad in a couple years BUT we don't have the cap to keep him so we have to do something. 2. Agreed, it is important that I am able to find CHEAP contracts in free agency this year. 3. I agree it's not a bad contract whatsoever and after his postseason w/ Mills we got to pay the man 4. Again, this is a very sensable suggestion and one I will follow to the letter! 5. Agreed we will have a 1A 1B situation for the first time in a while. 6. With the limited capspace we have, I think this is our only option!

    What. A. Run. Wow!!! Great job to the players, GM and staff. That was simply amazing! ... But now begins the tough part, in a bid to repeat for the 1st time. DIFFICULT choices ahead, but five players have to go for varying reasons imo. 1. Othman @2.5M × 1 Didn't end up playing at all the PO and dropped to 80ov. His 2.5M would be better allocated to Johnston, who is as much of bottom-6 staple as Pinto is at 3C. - Suggestion: Traded at the draft for a late pick 2. Tomasino (UFA) The math simply doesn't work to keep him and after his breakout season + PO, he deserves to sign with a team where he'll play top 6 minutes and earn big money. - Suggestion: Released in FA 3. Wallstedt @6.5M x 2 Two cups in 3 years... But at 84ov & 6.5M keeping him doesn't make sense anymore. He was inconsistent as an 86ov... As an 84ov? Forget about it! - Suggestion: Traded for a 2nd round pick (or equivalent) to a team with no starter and a barren goalies pipeline 4. Targaryen (RFA) His role is now top 4D and his salary demands reflect it. With Mills, Stempniak, Hoffman, Power, Kreutzer in the fold, there's no way we can keep him, nor does it make sense for him to want to stay. - Suggestion: Packaged with the next player in a monster blockbuster deal 5. The big one... Captain Cole Perfetti @9.6M x 3? This one's NOT easy, but if we're going to be smart and strategic, it's time to cut bait with the last remaining piece of the past. The captain lost his role on the 1st line and will only see his importance diminish from here on out. He scored just 3 goals in the playoffs (granted, 20 assists too), dropped in overall to 88 and makes nearly 10M. As a 3 times cup winner and a vet full of intangibles, he should still have great value in the eyes of a team looking to take the next step, but our teams is clearly Mills' moving forward. 2 cups in 3 years since the trade, getting better with each passing regular season, absolute monster that can be trusted in all situations, money in the playoffs, one of the best contracts in the league, etc. The time is nigh to trade captain Cole and do what most champions fail to do... Move on before it's too late (i.e. Toews with Chicago). - Suggestion: Upcoming! - Piece of life advice: "Sometimes you just gotta avoid all of your problems and everything will be okay" - Kronos 2024 😭

    Appreciate the support and kind words Alex! 1. Unfortunately, I agree. Othman just no longer has a role on the team. He produced well when he played but he is no longer needed. 2. I 100% agree with this one. 3. It's going to be tough to see him go but we have to get rid of cap space somewhere if we are going to sign Kennedy... 4. I could see us getting rid of Karlathi as he's just asking for SO much. 5. Man this one hurts. I'm not sure IF we can make a team with Perfetti on it given the salary these players want in the future... We absolutely could get a blockbuster done if we trade Cole. He also kind of lost his spot to Eklund and we always have Patrick as 2C if needed. We can probably find a cheaper option out there but man that hurts.

    @@Kronos_123. Indeed! Inconsistent or not, he did deliver 2 cups in 3 years... Something even the great Hellebuyck couldn't do. It's just a shame he had to drop to 84ov as his play started to peak. 4. It's crazy! As much as he's beloved in Winnipeg, 6-8M for Targaryen is insane and he's never going to get the icetime to grow into that type of contract here either. 5. If there's a team out there that's willing to trade their top 5 pick AND wants Perfetti, we could go for a real blockbuster deal a la Kennedy: Perfetti (vet top 6 C) + Targaryen (young top 4D) + Jesus Pyatt (A level prospect that's a few years away from making it into the league) + 1st (31st overall) + 1st (bound to be late too) For Top 5 pick (superstar on ELC - ideally a forward but best player available regardless) + 1 affordable depth forward (no need to look for one in FA) + 1 affordable depth dman (no need to look for one in FA) Between the top 5 pick, depth forward, depth defenseman, Quenneville and Tukio, the roster holes should be filled for minimal $ and we could look for a goalie in FA or in season.

    Not sure if you already know this by now, but regarding player growth: Statistical growth is ALWAYS based on the previous season, players don’t get statistical throughout the season. Statistical growth also doesn’t carry over, it’s like a temporary boost for a single season. Same appliea for statistical decline, it’s only for a single season. Natural growth (and decline) is permanent! For this reason I like to play with morale on (with meetings off) because it can give temporary statistical boosts to players throughout the season, so a player having a good season can actually matter in the current season. I think you should really try it to see if you like it, just remember to turn the meetings off, they absolutely ruin everything. Somewhere between the re-sign stage and start of pre-season players get natural growth/decline, but idk if you can actually see it in progress reports at any point. Statistical growth can be seen at the draft already. It’s a weird system, some players seem to rely on Statistical growth for their overall, which can result in a big drop in overall despite them not even having a terrible season. Anyway, natural growth is the one to look for if you’re monitoring the growth throughout the season. This may be a useless comment since you could have learned this by now :D

    Lineup reasoning: Based on everything we know, here's the lineup that should start the POs and be given the runway until we face elimination or really need to make a change due to poor individual performances. 1. There's no lack of options for 1C between Eklund and Perfetti, but Patrick is the only proven, cup winning 2C on the team. He's also the only top-6 player with the size needed to matchup against the opposition's best and go on a deep run. 2. Stone's 40yo and his potential is AHL top-6. If his overall drops or he drags his line down, he needs to come out in favor of McConnell-Barker. Othman was a great signing and has produced amazingly with only 4th line minutes. If anything, he's under-utilized and would do well on the 3rd line if Stone falters. Another option would be Quenneville (let's sign him and potentially have him debut in the PO like Stone himself did!). 3. Don't hesitate to elevate Dowd to the 2nd line. His low-ish overall is deceiving, as he has better hands than Tomasino + all the tools to kill it offensively. Boost his physical category to league-average and he's probably an 84-86ov player right now. He just scored more points on his offside on the 3rd line as a rookie than Tomasino did in a similar spot for years. Putting him on the 2nd line also balances the forward core against a very deep Dallas team. He's legitimately a bigger, older rookie Svensson. 4. Lastly, let's run the D-core untouched. Stempniak-Mills deserve a playoff run together to prove they're a championship caliber top pair. On paper, Power - Hoffman is as great a 2nd pair as there is. And with his size and upside, Kreutzer should get the nod in the PO. Going from top-4 minutes on a winning team all year to healthy scratch is crazy. Havelid can come in if he clearly struggles. 5. Oh one more thing, Stempniak - Hoffman should play on their strong sides on the PK. That's probably the last place we'd want Dmen on the offside. Let's get rolling and win the cup!

    Thank you for the fantastic episode Kronos! Big thank you to Barker for his contributions to the Winnipeg Jets as well. With Buffalo entering a rebuild, he should thrive and score a lot over there. Oh... And thank you to the other guy that was traded too, I guess. Forgot his name. 1. Just sign the contract extensions when it makes sense to do so. It's a moving target, so it tottally illogical to wait for input, especially with core players like Kennedy. 7.75M became 11.65M and now who knows... After being toyed with for years in Buffalo to start his career, he came to Winnipeg for some stability. Instead, he's being hard-balled at every turn and would probably ask for a trade IRL haha 😄 He's the best overall rating on the team, in his prime and probably wouldn't settle for less than 8 years, as far as term is concerned. Now we know for sure he's only a RW too. 2. Stempniak, Dowd, Targaryen and Kreutzer should all also be locked up at the first opportunity too (5-8 years). All four will see monster growth, given their roles on the team moving forward and it's not the end of the world if any of them ends up being overpaid by a million or two. Better that than paying to some bench warmer or AHL-fodder (cough Walman cough 🫢) the same cash. 3. Shoutout to Mills on an epic breakout season. Seattle should have Buffalo's first(s) from the Carlsson offersheet (just as the Sabres are selling off). Between that and Helmersson, the trade tree keeps getting juicier. 4. Were there no injuries this year?

    @Kronos_12 All great! Zdeno Mills went from 10 goals, 40 assists, 50 points at the 68 games mark to 16 goals, 66 points to end the season once he was back with Stempniak. That's 6 goals, 10 assists in the final 14 games, so all is right in the world haha That cut from "I'm not sure I want to trade him" to "Alright, here's what we're going to do" on the Barker trade was another piece of comedy gold 😂

    Lastly, some stats: 1. The team went 12-1-3 in the final 16 games, following a 10-9-6 start. Good call on Barker down and Eklund up. 2. Dowd scored 4 goals and 15 points in the final 16 games of the video. 3. With the PK hovering around 80%, perhaps it's time to empower the young guys to fix it. It's been bad for a couple of seasons now and no internal solution has worked. The young guys are built for the role with size and senses and should grow in it. Svensson - Dowd, Pinto - Kennedy, Patrick - Bhowmik 4. Have Kennedy's contract demands dropped from the 20M x 8 years he was asking for?

    Pro scouting suggestions and trades: 1. Joel Sheppard + Brock Faber + pick/prospect to LA for Will Hoffman Change of scenery type hockey deal with both players set to slot better on their new team. Less responsibilities for Sheppard in LA and a first shot at relevancy for Hoffman in Winnipeg. Since LA is also really weak on the blueline, Faber and a defensive prospect/pick should be added to the deal to make it go through. 2. Melvin Barker (or 1st round pick) + pick/prospect to BUF for Owen Power It now makes sense why Buffalo is willing to part ways with a great player like Power. He lost his role behind Dahlin and Carlsson. They also have young prospects that have to play in Crabb and Demarchi. Similar scenario for us. While he's a good player, Barker has lost his top 6 role (again) and will never replicate his 70+ points high from a few years ago in Winnipeg due to a lack of opportunities/ice time. With his puck skills, Dowd looks like Svensson-lite and is a more natural fit to setup Patrick on the 2nd line. Given the fact that Barker's extension has just kicked in, it's probably time to give him a chance to thrive elsewhere and move. That being said, Buffalo has a stacked roster. If they have no use for a top 6 forward and wouldn't give Barker anymore icetime than we would, we should make it a 3 way deal. Barker for a 1st round pick to a team that wants him and will play him on their top line/top 6. Then the 1st round pick + later pick/prospect to Buffalo for Power. We get a bit weaker up front, but the defense is revamped and the team is geared for a deep playoff run. The only caveat is that we can't touch Stempniak - Mills given their standout performance. 3. Maybe a Mark Stone out of Toronto for depth? Svensson - Eklund/Perfetti - Kennedy Patrick - Eklund/Perfetti - Dowd Othman - Pinto - Tomasino McConnell-Barker - Johnston - Bhowmik Stone Stempniak - Mills Power - Hoffman Targaryen - Kreutser Havelid Wallstedt Silovs

    1. I definitely agree with the move. It is time to get rid of Sheppherd. 2. I agree. Unfortunately, Barker has not continued from that amazing 70 point season... I thought we might've found a great 40+ goal scorer for years to come but sadly he has regressed. 3. We can look into that trade and other older vets to try to boost our depth!

    As for the episode itself, thank you for the awesome content as always Kronos! "Oh my God, it's so long! What did we do? Sleep with the ref's wife?", "Jesper Wallstedt is playing horribly, as per usual" & "This guy can't put on his skates. He needs his dad to come into the locker room to help him do it". Good gracius, the past few episodes have been pure comedy gold 😂😂😂 1. Dylan Baker was traded to LA for Tomasino + rental Lindell at the TDL! He was 20yo and ~65ov at the time. Didn't look like he would amount to much more than a low 80s player if everything went well. LA was patient, played him in the AHL for a couple of years and boom, great growth from him to get to 80ov 3 years later! It's super cool to see our draft picks thrive like that (G Helmersson from the Carlsson trade is killing it in Dallas too!). Barker probably won't reach a super high overall (~max 83-86 since he's already 23/24yo), but he's definitely a nice little player when you dig into his attributes, especially offensive/defensive senses! 2. What a turn around and what a performance from all the rookies so far! The new team took a quarter of a season the gel, but has been lights out since. Also... Wow! The competition between Liam Carlsson and Corbin Mills is real and will be fierce for years to come. Carlsson probably moved on from super team Seattle to an even better powerhouse in Buffalo via offersheet! (Let's look at their draft picks and lineups!) 3. While the team is doing well and Kennedy seems to be scoring more goals, neither him or Svensson are on pace to reach their point totals from last season. It's up to the GM, but perhaps it would be best to go back to Svensson on LW and Kennedy on RW. 4. It's time to say goodbye to Sheppard imo. Without Werenski, he's being outperformed by rookies Kreutzer + Targaryen, as well as ufa signing Havelid. We know that he does nothing in the POs as well. Just no purpose on the team at all. By all accounts, #4 might have been generous, both him and Hoffman could use the change of scenery imo.

    I love that you're enjoying my little quips Alex! 1. Oh yes I remember now! That trade I think has worked out quite well for both teams! Tomasino has been a great piece on the third line for our cup and Baker could potentially grow a bit more! 2. I can't wait to keep checking on the Mills - Carlsson stats and see how it pans out! Mills is playing lights out and Carlsson is trying to match him! What a storyline. 3. I can definitely try to mix some things up with that line! 4. I 1000% agree now. I've given him every chance to prove himself this year but he's just not getting it done. Him being so pitiful on a team full of low 80s high 70 OVR is unacceptable. He needs a change of scenery. Next question is: Do we put Hoffman on the second D pair cuz Mills is playing so well with Stempniak? Or do we see how Hoffman + Mills play together?

    @Kronos_12 Very much so! This seriez is more enjoyable than some Netflix humor shows haha 1. Yes it definitely turned out to be a win-win! 2. If Mills scores the same amount of points as or outscores Carlsson this season, would you make the trade again? 3. Seems like Kennedy's very best is brought out on RW. 4. How do you feel about Sheppard as a player? Are you particularly attached to him? As for Hoffman, he should probably start on the 2nd pair, since Stempniak - Mills is such a strong duo. However, the second we struggle in the regular season or need to shake things up in the playoffs, he'd move up to LD alongside Mills.

  • @Kronos_12
    @Kronos_1219 күн бұрын

    2. Honestly, even at this point I would gladly make the trade again! We won the cup... Can't get much better than that! 4. I think in the game, an OFD with a DFD works so well. Look at how Karlathi is doing now with Havelid as opposed to with Faber. I think IF we kept Carlsson, I wanted to pair him and Sheppard, BUT since we don't have that high OVR Offensive Defensiveman, it means Sheppard kind of loses his viability.

    1. Regarless of his asking price, we should have cut bait with Ehlers and really moved on from the old guard (it's not too late to let him join Connor or Morrissey imo). He has no purpose on the team anymore (a la Scheifele in the last few years). He won't/shouldn't get pp time, isn't big, fast or defensive minded and is simply not the kind of bottom 6 player we need. I'd move him for a 7th 4 years down the road to allow him to go play with one of his lifelong buddies. 2. Othman and Faber were great pickups, since they fill roster needs. The rest, er... Let's get into it with the last point. 3. Oof. The Kennedy contract is going to hurt so bad. We really shouldn't bridge core players anymore moving forward. Or at least, if we absolutely must bridge them, let it be for 1-2 years so they can be extended asap. The 3 years bridge is not unlike what happened with Mark Stone in real life. Had a chance to lock him up for 8 years at market value, haggled over pennies and ended up being forced to trade him or pay millions more a few years later. This also speaks to the next point about philosophy. We sometimes haggle with our key players over a few hundred Ks, but then turn around and pay depth players combined millions every offseason (when fringe players could do just as well). We should work from the top down to fill the roster, not the bottom up. 4. We need a change of philosophy when it comes to FA and the signing of depth players... Mostly for 3 reasons. We're currently spending 8M+ on players that will be scratched throughout the year and only play a handful of games if there are injuries. That makes no sense from: 1) a cap management standpoint, 2) the players' own perspective and 3) for the good of the league and the franchise mode. First point: Korchinski was available, would have filled our biggest roster need perfectly and would have only costed a couple of millions more than the combined cap of Farber, Havelid, Walman and the other healthy scratched players. In that scenario, the blueline would be Stempniak-Mills, Korchinski-Sheppard, Targaryen-Kreutser and we could sign a couple of old 75-77ovs on two-way deals as depth. It might not be the organization or GM's philosophy to sign star players in FA (and that's perfectly fine), but it makes just as little sense to sign a bunch of good NHL players only to scratch them. If neither option is good, it'd be preferable to sign neither stars nor depth players, play our wealth of young guys, then weaponize our cap space to fill roster needs via trades in-season. Second point: No legit NHLer would ever accept assuming a depth role for a full season and being healthy scratched throughout. Depth should be just that... Depth. Meaning super old vets that have 1 foot out of the league or fringe players that are only good for a cup of tea in the NHL. Again, if we're not regularly going to sign star players in FA to fill our roster needs and build from the top down, fine. But there should be a rule that states we can't sign depth players that are asking for real NHL contracts either. Depth should only be players on two-way and minor league deals, perhaps with the exception of vets, 37yo or older, that are clearly on their last rodeo and wouldn't mind riding the pine for a season if it means a shot at winning the cup. Third point: As a result of this change, we would be forced to think about who we insert in the lineup in case of injuries. It would perhaps lead to seeking more trades in-season from teams with excess players, if we deem our depth is not good enough to play. Or perhaps it would force us to call up and play our AHL rookies more then we have throughout the series. Those are all more realistic outcomes than spending a lot of money to hoard legit NHLers (80-83ovs) as 7th D or 13-14th forwards. It would also help with league competitiveness, as there would be more players on the table for the teams with 75ovs in their lineups to sign.

    1. I think I just wanted Ehlers to retire a Jet😪 But I definitely see what you mean. He doesn't really have a role and we might be better off trading him and giving time to some younger guys. 3. Kennedy's contract looking back at it is bad. But at the time, I didn't know what we were getting and I also think it made sense for him to not sign an 8-year deal with a brand new team when he had not proven he can produce on a first line. BUT, looking back, it is going to hurt a lot. 4. Honestly, I didn't even notice Korchinski was there (I was not focused while recording this ep. Not an excuse just trying to let you into my thought process). I think it was pretty clear I didn't have a clear-cut plan but that HAS to change moving forward. Korchinski would have made this blueline SO much better and I'm disappointed I completely skipped over him. I definitely agree that from now on, our depth will be two-way guys. BUT I still think the bottom 6 can be comprised of guys 80-83+ OVR. I appreciate all the thoughts and time it takes you to write these my friend!

    As for the suggestions: 1. We shouldn't change PP1, since the team was scoring at a 30%+ clip last season. The 1st unit was LW Patrick - C Perfetti - RW Svensson - LD Kennedy - RD Mills. The 2nd unit is bound to change due to personnel change, but is fine as lined up with Tomasino, Eklund, Barker, Stempniak, Pinto. 2. As for the top line, we should try Kennedy on LW and Svensson on RW (at least for the first half of the season). We know Kennedy is not a center, but a very good RW. However, we don't know if he would perform even better and score more goals with more shooting options/angles as a LW. Last year Svensson scored more than expected while Kennedy scored less, but assisted more than expected and that might be a direct result of their slotting. Svensson is an exceptional playmaker and it feels like the whole line would benefit more with him on his strong side vs the opposite for Kennedy. 3. Not against keeping Sheppard for half a season to figure out if he's indeed a #2/3 (i.e. a dman that can run a 2nd pair on his own like Werenski did for years with the likes of JBD) or a #4 (glorified complementary player that needs a strong player like Werenski to excel). With his suboptimal skating and awful puck skills for a top 4 D, I suspect it's the latter but let's see where he's at by the halfway point and how LA is doing! 4. We should prioritize giving icetime to and growing our youth. Upfront, perhaps it's time for GRN Bhowmik to get his 9 games alongside Pinto-Tomasino and go from there if he does well. On the backend, we know from past experiences that low elite DFD don't grow super well (Dahl, etc.) and since Sheppard is also a DFD, perhaps OFD Kreutzer should get a shot in the top 4. The point is that both the top 9 and top 4 have a glaring hole that has yet to be filled and our youth should get the first shot at filling each.

Ideally everyone would be on their strong side, but since that's not possible with the current setup, the shooter should probably be the one on his offside and the playmaker on his strong side. Last year, Svensson scored more goals than he should have and Kennedy assisted on more goals than he should have. Perhaps that's the reason why...

    Trade/signing suggestions: 1. Miscast Sheppard to LA for malcontent Hoffman straight up (or with the necessary additions to make the trade go through). One is a top pairing D that's forced to play his entire prime on the 2nd pair. The other is a #4 that's repeatedly forced on the 1st pair. Fixes the issue for both by slotting Sheppard behind Clarke and allowing Hoffman to thrive out of Clarke's shadow. 2. No more Werenski, Morrissey, Connor, Ehlers. None can return. After that shocking exit, the old guard is effectively over. 3. Eklund could be re-signed, but only if he's not locked in as the 2nd line center. Not sure we can consitently win with Perfetti/Eklund down the middle, so the arrangement could be that Eklund is a center in the regular season and a winger to Patrick in the playoffs. Patrick is the only player over 6ft in the top 6, so the defense/bottom 6 has to be beefed up to make up for it.

    1. That is a very bold move. I don't hate it but with a move like that it kind of feels like we're giving up on Stempniak ( much like with Carlsson) I think one year with Stempniak - Mills on line 1 then Sheppard on line 2 could be great! Also, this allows both Mills and Stempniak to play their natural side instead of forcing Mills to play the left. I think making the trade is totally good but I may stand pat for at least this episode and see what the LAK lines look like for next episode! 2. I 100% agree Alex! It's time the team make a HUGE change 3. Eklund can definitely be a guy that moves throughout the lineup! His 5 stars everywhere means he can slot into any role we need him to and he can move to the wing in the postseason when Patrick takes up his role in the 2C position!

    @@Kronos_12 1. Oh no, Stempniak is absolutely untouchable, just as Mills and Hoffman would be. It's the GM's call and we're a good team either way, but this AGM is done with Sheppard. Can't be counted on for offense (which is fine), but then can't be counted on for defense either when it matters most. So what's the point? As for Carlsson, he had 39 points playing 1st pair 5v5, PP and PK in Seattle. Mills had 30 points playing 2 less minutes a game and shifting between 1st/2nd pair. We didn't give Carlsson away. No cup without Mills in the PO last year and after Mills' performance in the PO last year and this year, it's still very much a fair trade. It's just time we gave Mills the same opportunities Carlsson has had for 2 years over a full season. Despite playing on a stacked Seattle team, Carlsson got bounced in the 2nd round this year and it'd be fun to take a look at how he did. They're not winning a thing with 5ft9 dman as their best blueliner. Shiny player on paper, but flawed in reality.

    Good episode Kronos... But damn... Never has a playoff appearance stung or felt more like a missed opportunity than this. That roster was the best assembled in the series and we were up against a beatable team, but the lineup sank us. 1. Watching Werenski - Sheppard as the 1st pair was straight out of a nightmare. Yes, their overalls would suggest they're the two best Ds on the team at this time... But throughout our number of PO runs, Werenski struggled every single time he was slotted on the 1st pair (deep minuses), then found his footing and led the 2nd pair whenever he was alongside a defensively minded partner (however average the latter). He's not a PO #1 and has failed time and time again when we've forced him there due to his overall. What he is is an excellent #3 in the playoffs and we've known that for years. As for Sheppard, he's nothing more than a glorified #4 with great defense and good physical attributes. He'll do okay on the 1st pair in the regular season, but get exposed in the playoffs every single time. He was last year... Started on the 1st pair, struggled badly and we ended up winning the cup on the backs of Morrissey and Mills' exceptional performances (with Werenski - Sheppard as the 2nd pair). Sheppard was horrid defensively and offensively useless again in the playoffs this year. Good, decent player that will get unwarranted hate because he's thought of as more than he is due to: 1) his overall rating, 2) slotting and the organization being in love with the idea that he's a top pairing D (EA's own version of Cody Ceci if you will 💀😂). The fact that we didn't see Stempniak - Mills, or even old Morrissey - Mills on the 1st pair once or that Mills was the one demoted to the 2nd pair instead of Werenski is just unfortunate. By the end of the 7 games, Stempniak - Mills still led the defense in scoring too, while Werenski - Sheppard combined for 1 assist and minus a gazillion. Just really, really unfortunate. 2. Much less egrigious, but shifting Patrick back to the middle (at least for a few games) would have helped too. As good a player as Eklund is, he doesn't have the size of a prototypical center and Patrick proved himself to be a cup winning 2C last season. The untold truth of EA's NHL is that in the playoffs, size and slotting matters more than x-factors, offensive/defensive lines plusses and all the other gimmicks they added to try to make the game more engaging. Sadly, we came up a bit short in this run.

    I absolutely agree. This one hurt bad. 1. I definitely agree with this assessment. I didn't realize how poor they were playing until after I checked the stats at the end of the series. I gotta be better at making those adjustments early on. 2. I think this is a bit of a toss-up as Eklund does have the better faceoff, Def. Awareness and Physical categories despite his size. But we did 100% see good results with Patrick in the centre so maybe a change regardless would have been beneficial!

    Woohooo playoffs bound baby! Awesome episode Kronos :) 1. Just like last year, it's probably best to go with our prime lineup in the playoffs (Cernak in), since every team is starting from an even field. What a season though! This might be an even stronger lineup than last year's cup winner. 2. At this point, don't we almost have to re-sign Will Eklund? He's a perfect fit on the 2nd line and seems to be the ying to Patrick's (and likely Barker next season) yang. Good call on keeping Barker btw! He should jump after a solid season :) 3. If not Eklund, then yeah Gordon from Arizona would be a good top 9 replacement. Speaking of which, is it possible to switch players positions in franchise mode? If so, could you make Von Arx a RW? It's soooooo irritating that he's not playing simply because he's listed as a LW and EA's ai is too dumb to recognize that he's one of their best players. No wonder Arizona has ruined the potential of so many players. 4. Don't forget about checking the $$ for extensions :p Thank you again for the episode and see you and everyone else at the repeat cup celebration!

    Thanks Alex!!! 1. I agree, putting in the best lineup possible definitely helped the slow sim last year so let's hope it helps again. 2. I can look into signing Eklund for sure! I think we have to prioritize guys like Svensson, Patrick & Perfetti over him but if we have leftover $ we can look at it. 3. Unfortunately, since 2020 (I think) it is not possible to modify player positions. I used to make changes like that a lot in my own GM modes but EA decided to take a good feature out of the game!

    Great episode Kronos! 1. Good call on sending Kreutzer down. He's not ready at this time, but hopefully that little cup of NHL action helps him next season. 2. Filming this episode took its tool, eh? 😂 3. We should probably hold off on the RFA extensions, but check if their demands come down from time to time from now on. Patrick wanted 4 x 5.5M or 6 x 6.4M in the offseason but now, the $$ has gone through the roof just like the others. Let's wait for more reasonable numbers, qualify them and drag the contract negociations into next pre-season if we must. 4. On the goalie front, Buffalo makes sense, with Hecht (!!) on the cusp (like Wallstedt in Minny did with Konowalchuk almost ready). LA (can we check out Hoffman?) and PIT also make sense, as they each have 3 NHL goalies. Lastly, STL probably wouldn't trade Rasmussen, as he's mid-elite and already their best NHL option. Just wondering if it makes sense to move on from Silovs so soon, since he's only played a handful of games with us and not behind the most stable roster. Is any option out there enough of an upgrade to justify a trade? Plus, with a playoff berth virtually secured and Wallstedt set to play every minute of the postseason, should we really make a move? All matters for the GM to decide, but it's super cool to see our drafted prospects become NHL players throughout the league! 5. Cernak + Luostarinen for a futures package makes a lot of sense, roster fit wise. Carlo would be better, but is signed for an extra year so that's probably not ideal with the amount of RFAs/UFAs the team has. Thank you for the episode, have an awesome rest of the week and see you in the next one!

I definitely agree! With the scouts and games and things like that, I just forgot. Unacceptable mistake by me but we'll be okay! 4. We don't necessarily need to move on from Silovs. He has not had too much time to get used to the core here in Winnipeg I was mostly just checking if there was a slam dunk anywhere! 5. Agreed! They would be great fits! Thanks for the awesome comment as always Alex!

    Defense: 1. Mills NEEDS to play the full season as the 1RD with PP1 assignment and be given a chance to grow! That’s where he was playing in Seattle and top pairing was where Carlsson was slated to play with us as an 81-83 overall. Yet, Mills has yet to be given the same chance in the regular season with us. Sheppard’s overall will never grow nor decrease (as long as he plays in the top 4) and he will never produce offense. That’s perfectly fine, but that makes him a complementary player that’s suited for 2RD with top PK assignments. We just won the cup on the back of 6ft5, 238lbs Mills playing 1RD (14 points, +19 in 23 games!). The only reason why he regressed from 85 to 84 and did not gain X factors is that he played 2RD with no PP time for more than the first half of the regular season last year. Let’s play the man! 2. Werenski has played his best hockey with a solid DFD on his right side throughout the series. First it was Brodin, then JBD and now Sheppard. That twosome is a natural fit on the 2nd pairing. 3. Up front, the 3rd line is excelling because they’re out on the ice with Morrissey, who is tilting the ice offensively (-4 defensively though) and is feasting on weaker opposition on the 3rd pair. 4. Although he’s “only” 76 overall, Kreutzer is listed as a depth defenseman and that’s because his actual attributes (like puck skills) are NHL caliber and better than Lindstrom’s, who only has defense and physicality going for him. Kreutzer is also a big right hand offensive D and should be given a chance to play alongside of/learn from veteran Morrissey. He and Stempniak (who should also be elevated) are great candidates to grow throughout the season if given a chance to play. 5. Lastly, we should go for a combination of best defensive attributes (like we did in the PO) and long term players on the team to improve the struggling PK. There’s no question pending UFA Eklund has no desire to break his hand blocking a shot on the PK for his rental team 😂

  • @Kronos_12

    1. I will play Mills some more time in the next vid! I don't think 10 games should really stunt his growth but for the rest of the season, he will be played on the first line (assuming we don't start drastically losing). 4. Nice spot! I think Kreutzer can get a chance for sure. At least a 9 game trial before I decide what to do with him! 5. I definitely think the PK needs a bit of work but maybe going to the playoff lines could help us out a bit more. I thought Eklund would be good on the PK with his 5-star Defense but oh well! Appreciate all the thoughts as always Alex! It's always a pleasure reading through them

    Great episode as always Kronos! Thank you 😃 Eklund was a fantastic pickup. He’s our Marian Hossa, chasing a cup for top dollars for a year in Winnipeg. There are just a few lineup decisions we disagree on! Forwards: 1. Perfetti, Svensson, Kennedy is a perfect line. Wish we offered Kennedy 8 years x 7.5M-7.75M instead of 7.35M (the highest offered), as a year from now, it’s going to cost 9-10M minimum to extend him, just like Svensson… Speaking of which, let’s pay the man. Svensson has been making every single one of his linemates better since his rookie season. 8 years, blank check. Best player on the team. Perfetti should be extended too, but only for 3 to 5 years, given his high price tag and his age. Then Patrick for 5 to 8 years and mayyyybe Barker if we want to gamble. The other forwards can wait. 2. It’s fine if we choose to keep Barker and try to restore his overall rating/trade value, but that CANNOT come at the expense of Patrick, a back-to-back 40 goals scorer who just centered the 2nd line to a SC championship and has done nothing but excel since his rookie season. Since Eklund is only a 1 year rental and only has marginally better faceoffs attributes than Patrick, with less than ideal size down the middle, Patrick should remain the center. The 3rd spot on the 2nd line should then be decided between Barker and Connor. And if we go with Barker, let’s keep in mind that he had his career year playing his offside as a RW. 3. Depending on the Barker vs Connor choice on the 2nd line, the 3rd and 4th lines sort themselves quite easily. Last point up front is that Ehlers should be nowhere near the PP, since he’s now playing 4th line minutes and has one foot out the door. It’s a wasted PP slot (a la Scheifele) that should go to Stempniak or Tomasino.

    Appreciate the kind words and the great thoughts as always Alex! 1. I agree with the Svensson and Patrick signings as well as Perfetti for a couple of years! Barker I think we can wait on and see how he plays in the lineup but there's no need to rush with him. 2. I will try out the lines with Eklund - Patrick - Barker to start and see how they play and then make changes accordingly! 3. I can try to give Stempniak some time to see if he can get some more points under his belt! I just wanted to give Ehlers some more time on the PP as he has pretty good offensive stats and the X-Factors that help with chemistry more than the other players.

    Pro scouting suggestions: 1. Jesus + Pyatt seem to be the way to go at the draft 2. 1 year extension for Werenski (still tough to replace him, but also too expensive/risky to go for a multi years deal) 3. 3 years for Wallstedt as you suggested seem perfect 4. 50/50 on re-signing Ehlers. It'll have to be him or another FA for the 3rd line. 1 year only if it's Ehlers 5. We should also look into moving Barker+ for a similar aged center. With Patrick growing and Kennedy in the picture, he sort of lost his role. As things stand, 3 snipers are set to play on the 2nd line and that's not ideal 🫤

  • @Kronos_12
    @Kronos_12Ай бұрын

    1. Totally agree with the draft ideas! 2. I think we can bring Werenski back at 1 year although we need a younger guy to step up and fill the whole soon. 3. Agreed! 4. Again, not too sure what we should go for here! It's not a big deal if we resign him but maybe we let him walk too! I think it'll be a decision I make while recording! 5. It sucks so much that Barker lost his overall... He still has good value at his price tag (1.1 mil I think) but we could benefit from a 2C playmaker as well

  • @alexanderp4107
    @alexanderp4107Ай бұрын

    @Kronos_12 2. Indeed and the good news is that the answers might already be there internally! Now that he's a medium elite (!!!) Stempniak will be the replacement for Werenski, while Kreutzer might grow into a lesser, rhd version of Morrissey. Add in Mills/Sheppard and the D-core is in great shape after 1 more year of Werenski/Morrissey to ease the transition. 4. Full trust in the GM's vision/decision! 5. Yes Barker's overall drop is a shame! And it'll be extremely difficult for him to replicate his goals/points total from 2 years ago with Kennedy/Svensson emerging as 1st line wingers. Might turn into another case of Lucius/Lambert. I'd say trade him in a package for top-6 PLY/TWF center or winger (Patrack can always remain a C) if there's one available on the RFA market a la Kennedy. Otherwise, for a 1st if there's an established star available in the UFA market to replace him. Again, full trust in the GM's vision though!

    Just 3 thoughts and a request heading into the playoffs: 1. Now that the regular season is over and every team is starting from a leveled playing field in the PO, we should ice our best lineup, which means Kostin in for one of Protas/Holloway, but not necessarily Iorio in (more on that below). 2. Just like Wallstedt in net, the forward core shouldn't be touched at all after Kostin gets in imo. 3. However, if we struggle defensively, the first move should be to bring Mills up to pair 1 and Stempniak to pair 2, with Morrissey left to carry pair 3. The only concern with the roster/Dcore heading into the postseason is not picking up a better dman at the TDL to insulate Stempniak. Iorio has okay defensive and physical attributes, but is pretty much gnarly everywhere else. And while Walker had chemistry with Stempniak in the regular season, he still declined throughout it and is now a 78ov. It's the GM's call as to who gets in. As things stand, Stempniak will have to be the best player on his defensive pair in the playoffs as a rookie. That's a tall order and the reason why 3× cup champion Cernak would have been great despite being a DFD vs TWD. Moving Stempniak to line 2 if we struggle will allow him to play with a better player in Sheppard, while Morrissey is perfectly capable of carrying the 3rd pair vs weaker competition on his own (a la Josi). Mills to line 1 would also give us a good look at what he can to as the go-to guy As for the request, no pressure if it's not possible, but an extra episode of franchise mode this week would be swell! 😁 As always, thank you for the episode and bring on the PO!

  • @Kronos_12

    Thank you for the suggestions as always Alex! 1. I definitely agree with getting Kostin in there to start off the playoffs and then make changes throughout! 2. Again, I agree that Wallstedt has a long leash this playoff run 3. I think Iorio is good enough for the role he has to play (6th D). He is really only out there to be serviceable on the D side and be physical if needed. As for Cernak, he was not on the block at the deadline which means we would have had to give up much more for him than Iorio, and for an older rental I didn't really see the need. I will try to get an extra one out this week if possible Alex! Thanks as always for your commitment!

    Very exciting finish to the regular season. After moving to Kennedy to RW1 and Mills to the PP1, the team went 30-8-2. A 61 wins pace over a full season. Here are some stats: 1. Kennedy had 17 goals and 35 points in 40 games while Perfetti had 45 points in 36 games. Those two should be tied to the hips on line 1 next season. (Btw, can we talk about the fact that the GM scratched a healthy superstar #1C for 4 games due to superstition? 😳😄 It's one thing to do it with depth players, but...) 2. Patrick scored 25 goals in 40 games while steady-heady Svensson scored 40 points in 40 games. Those two should also be tied to the hips on line 2, with Barker/Connor switching on LW1/LW2 if the latter's overall drops. 3. Wallstedt played at a .919 clip before getting injured, bringing his sv% for the season up to .909. 4. Mills scored 14 points in 40 games (vs 4 points in 42 games). The exact same pace as offensive D extraordinaire Carlsson (26 points in 76 games), despite playing on WPG's 2nd pair. 5. Lastly (could go on, but better keep things short), Stempniak scored 1 more goal, but notched 1 less point then offensive D Carlsson in their respective rookie seasons. Stempniak did so playing exclusively 3rd pair minutes with no PP time, while Carlsson reached his points total playing top 4 minutes with PP time.

    WOW! I didn't realize we had that kind of a pace! 1. They will 100% be our dynamic duo upfront for the foreseeable future after what Kennedy did on that line this year! 2. Let's hope it translates to the playoffs! 4. Those numbers from Mills are definitely promising! I'm interested to see how he continues to grow! 5. That's another interesting stat for sure!
