    Wow. I would like to see some less than professional pictures or videos as well. I want this in my house so bad. Man caves are often just fun things displayed around a central tv. This looks relaxing and miles away from the noisy kids upstairs.

    Loved this example because of the workaround solutions. I too have white walls that I’m not painting and beige wood floor which is not my aesthetic preference. Also my bedroom is quite small so learning where to place certain material and texture details helped simplifying it a lot. It can be quite overwhelming for someone enthusiastic about interior design but not professional. Thank you for this tasteful educational video. Followed!

    Watched this video again & it made more questions than answers! 😂😂😂 Many years ago, I made headboard and two side tables for my bdrm. I stained the wood in a medium brown tone (can't remember what I used, maybe Minwax Maple). The other item is that the center of the headboard is removable so I can change it as my taste changes. One of my thoughts was to go with this design concept. Especially with the pants encorparated into my "masculine" design thoughts. So, I am wondering if the room was to be painted dark grey, flat black, flat/matte/semi-gloss dark royal blue type color & the trim a couple of tones lighter, could I keep the that stain color and keep my med tan down comforter then go from there? Rock on Chaudry!

    Every guy I know, doesn’t like throw pillows. Thank you for not doing that. Like the leather. But the ceilings in the original photos didn’t look high enough to hold that large over the bed light fixture. And faux ceiling beams.

  • @ChaudryGhafoor
    @ChaudryGhafoor5 күн бұрын

    The ceilings were not extremely high, you're right! They were 8 ft tall. The beams do look large in the rendering, but the beams we suggested to the customer only came down 5 inches, so very doable! The chandelier has a 12 inch diameter 💪

    I like industrial design and raw elements. Also, I'm a woman with feminine appearance and clothes. However, in my opinion well designed spaces are always a combination of at least 3-4 styles to make it personal, lived in and not like a showroom.

    I love how you transformed the room. It’s not easy when someone requests “industrial” decor yet is working with fixed beige walls and carpeted flooring, the opposite of that style. But the elements you brought in worked perfectly, like a Restoration Hardware style of Industrial. The only item I wasn’t 100% with was the lone bookcase, seems it needed some kind of companion, or be a bookcase on top with drawers or cabinets on the bottom.

  • @ChaudryGhafoor
    @ChaudryGhafoor5 күн бұрын

    Thank you! It could be possible we could have added another, but it's likley that it would have to a different piece which could stack with another companion in a flush way. We also had two doors on that wall to be cautious of crowding. Although, with a little bit of tweaking, I'm sure we could have gone a different route 👏

    Nice placement of the sofas. Also, a fine choice of rug. The wall paint is rich and deep, and works, though I am finding it just a little too dark when the window is so small. It might, of course, be south-facing, and if so, it could give just enough light during the day to swing the dark well, but I initially assumed the windows were much larger. If the room is not south-facing, I would have gone with olive green, which looks slightly darker in darker settings. (This would essentially shift the colour peak from the camel sofa to the velvet one, with the velvet sofa now becoming the 'odd one out', so to speak, as olive greens pair more naturally with beige and camel colours.) Good solution for the ceiling. In the original photo, the ceiling seems a bit low for the space, your solution elevates it visually. Maybe this was not the main guiding principle for you here. Be that as it may, good call on the beams. Two points where I would have tackled things differently. One is the fireplace. The colour contrast is excellent, but the problem is in its placement. Ultra classical mantels are elegant, they work well in classical interiors. However, classical interiors usually have the fireplace as a central reference point, or, at the very least, it is placed symmetrically within an autonomous portion of the space. The underlying idea is that light and warmth should be central to a congregation in a space, and for a central element, ornate decoration would be natural, as this would be an element constantly on display. Here, however, the fireplace is awkwardly placed to the side, and making it ornamental looks a bit like an expensive vase placed in a dark and remote corner. Perhaps a more subdued frame for it would make it blend more. Alternatively, a bold, ultra-modern frame could also work, if chosen well. Or, again, volume might be something to play with and make it into a 'curio' of sorts. So, either making it more subdued, or going with a bigger bang for extra contrast could, in my view, make a big difference. The second point is, perhaps, something a bit subjective. I have been, for some time now, sceptical about chandeliers or ceiling lights, in favour of lower lighting, especially for living/ sitting rooms and lounge spaces, and low ceilings, as well as with rooms which are called to perform several functions during the day. Here, for instance, you have a lounge, a music room for the kids to have lessons in, a game room for poker night, and a moderate reception room for cocktails with guests. One light, even the undeniably tasteful and elegant one you have here, is not enough, and the lamp is not enough, as, ultimately, both the fireplace area and the poker area are dark. You can still keep things moody for sure, but some nice low lighting options would play really well here. Finally, and this is not a criticism, just my own instinctive reaction as to the navigation of the room, based on some of its original weak points (or challenges if you like). I would have probably considered placing the poker table on the fireplace side. This way, the fireplace becomes meaningful, more directly functional. Also, this way your presentation of the fireplace would work better, as it would now become a smaller focal point for a dedicated space, the game area. (The main challenge here is the door which interferes with the 'relaxation vibe'. There are solutions to this, however.) Moving the poker table to the other side would open up the space near the garden (?) door, and I would have considered making that the cocktail area. I do get your point about keeping things moderately minimal and finding additional functions for the things you have in a room, but the interior here is large enough to not require such a multifunctionality. Plus, I would find it counterintuitive to have the cocktail bar in the bookcase, even in the way people use the bookcases as display cabinets nowadays. (I do not.) So, a nicely lit cocktail corner, for me personally, would be more natural. And it does not need to be either a tacky ‘80s mancave den bar, or take up a lot of space. You could keep it fairly minimal, and very elegant. Or even opt for a classical bar cabinet. Moving the sofas about 15 cm closer to the table would also give you a bit more air (also, would make the coffee table easier to use).
