I got a similar version of that model, except is an RS2653. Found it from my neighbor's yard giving away this unit, it's dusty, one of the pervious owner's cds got eaten and stuck inside the player, and the disc tray is just spinning endlessly. Luckily, this particular unit I have is perfectly in good condition, Cassette deck works, cd player works it can change disc without problem, including the speakers as well. Used it mostly as my desktop speaker system.

How many watts rms per channel? I heard one man say he had changed capacitors many times in amplifiers and no better sound quality. Then he said he used audio grade capacitors I forgot the two brands he said and wow the sound quality was fantastic!

The color of the wires doesn't matter, it just means the left, and right channels sre crossed. You are not going to get great sound out of it,because it has one watt output, and small cheap speakers. Ite set sold around $25.00. You will not great sound, if you want great sound, get a Magnavox!

Hola amigo, tengo un radio igual, solo que el transformador se daño, que valores de voltaje deberia dar en la salida o secundario, me podras dar ese dato para poder adaptarle uno.

  • @Farmradio

Hola. Transformer has 2 secondaries. One center tapped winding provides the +28VDC, & -28VDC. out of full wave bridge D901, D902. #2 is 15VDC, out of D903. (2nd. winding). So the transformer will be less. Divided by 1.141. I believe. 20-0-20 secondary gives 28.2VDC So 19-0-19, a good guess for 28 I believe. #2 for the 15VDC, 10-11VAC x 1.414 for that. Hope this helps

I do not. There is very little info. available on these. This one is still "shelved" at the moment. I since got a 2nd. from the same owner that failed in the same fashion, shortly after this one. I now believe the 8-pin op amps are prone to failure in these. Thanks for watching!

I'm messing with one of these. I got it and one of the issues was the tuner string has fallen off. I'm not sure why but it seems to be intact. I found an old manual online that shows the routing but when I put it on that way, it seems too short. It won't give enough wraps around the tuning drum and that seems to be causing it to not be able to move the dial through the full range as it will bind up on itself it seems. It seems as though the string is too short but the manual called out a length and it appears to be the correct length. Do you have any thoughts on this? I didn't see a great view of this in your video but I saw enough that I'm pretty yours is getting another wrap around the tuning drum. Thanks!

The best batteries for radios is the blue panasonic carbon-zinc batteries. I don't leave my radios without batteries in them. Radios should be ready to go with minimal fuss. Leave the batteries in them and turn them on when wanted. Though the blue Panasonic batteries are not the most energetic, the NEVER leak.

7:40 Take a piece of paper and cut a 1/2 inch length the whole 8.5 inches. Steep the 1/2"x8" piece of paper in regular white Elmer's glue. Then, wrap that piece of paper around the shaft (post)and let it dry in place. Works every time. You can also use newspaper rather than regular copy paper. The newspaper works well and is easier to wrap in place. Glue soaked paper is much stronger than any glue when it comes to broken plastic screw posts. I've fixed many of them this way.

Good visuals of the parts. It was very helpful. I have a Panasonic with the same problem and the same solenoid and rotary switch and cam mechanism. The brass forks on the plunger were bent obliquely when I opened up the unit. So, your shots of it were a big help for me to see how I need to bend it back to form. I have been having a hard time getting that part to properly engage with the cam. At least now I know how it is supposed to look! Thanks. I couldn't find your video in a search on KZread. I found it on a Bing search. That tells me that the KZread algo rhythm has problems. I miss the old days before Google bought the site and when you searched for something, you got a ton of videos related to your search topic. now you get only a few and the rest are related to your watch history. How frustrating!

It can’t be center-negative without being DC! ;) A lot of older Japanese electronics don’t come with the power plug and expect you to use batteries. The reason center-negative was so common in Japan decades ago is because you could use the switch in the barrel jack to automatically disconnect the battery… no microcontrollers or chips to manage charging and power source. Because Japan uses both 50/60hz in different prefectures they needed to design electronics to be agnostic of line frequency, so they made more DC stuff several decades ago. Since they were making most electronics DC, they saved even more when they could eliminate the adapter and use batteries, which is how they became the world leader in battery powered portable electronics by the ‘70s. Yes, Brother and Panasonic are Japanese. ;)

I have a Brightmond Company Limited "MEMORY II PROGRAMMABLE SWITCH BC800E" for which I have no instructions. It appears to be an in-wall timer switch of some kind for "Incandescent Lamps Only, 300 Watts Max". One black and one white wire emerge from the back of the device. On the front is a single push button above a slider. a single red led is located above the button. I have scoured the internet and as unbelievable as it may sound, the only reference that I have come across to BC800E is the reference by jonathansanders4735 in this comment thread. If I recall correctly, the device was also marketed under the Intelectron name. Does anyone else have such a device or the installation manual and/or user manual?

I have a SCT33 that won't play. Someone have me 2 back in the mid 90s where the tapes won't play. Someone I knew them fixed them but the problems returned about a year or 2 after the fact. When they were working, I had to play a tape on it for 10 mins before the speed would get up to proper speed. Can these problems be fixed? Wouldn't mind seeing if I could get my one unit up and running again.

I wonder who made this radio for Emerson. It's possible they could have made it in their own Japan factory but I suspect it was made by a subcontractor. Another video of this radio shows multiple different component manufacturers names inside. It was top rated by Consumer Reports in their 1970 tests of table radios.
