Thanks for the nice note. Even with the few MTH electronis failures I have experienced, thier electronics have been way more reliable and long lasting than the Lionel electronics. I have converted 12 engines now to PS-2. Mostly weaver diesels, and 2 Lionel diesels. The old engines with mechanical E-units and AC motors are infinitely repairable ! Also simpler to diagnose and repair. But, I also love running from a hand held controller. Speed control ( cruise control ) is a real plus for me. no matter how we run them, its fun.

Super. My railroad follows the D&RGW, CB&Q, and the C&S, and is operated with numerous SD-9 locomotives. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N. Edit: When I was young, I lived in Berthoud, Colorado, just north of Denver, right beside the C&S main. Back then a long train, mostly covered hoppers with grain and four bay hopper cars of coal, would usually be powered by an SD-7, SD-45, two GE U28B or U30Bs, and an SD-9, always in that order, northbound or southbound. (Turned, not reversed) A single SD-7 or SD-9 would take care of the rest of the freight and the locals, pulling 7 to 25 or so cars. Going up Berthoud hill or Derby hill, the noise from one SD-7 pulling hard on a long train could actually change your heartbeat, and was quite exciting to watch. The F units and passenger service disappeared around when I was born, (1960) so I never got to see that, but the Great Western Railway of Colorado still had some steamers operating, and their locomotive and car repair shop in Loveland repaired trains from all over the country, so I got to see plenty of foreign road passenger cars, locomotives, and rapid transit cars mixed into the freight trains. Nowadays, they usually use two large AC units pulling and one pushing a long freight, but old-school trains having from five to ten locomotives and over a hundred cars are etched into my memory. My railroad is stuck in 1976, with the most modern locomotives being EMD GP-40 and SD-45 and GE U36B and U36C models, with no Dash two or Dash seven or any safety cab models in sight. 🙂

@leoberidingАй бұрын
I run the MTH engines with thier DCS system. Easy and fun to use, you can build a lash up with up to 3 powered units. You tell the system if the engine is facing forwards or backwards. You can also run more than one train on a singe track. You tell the engines what speed to run, and they just hold that speed. I also have the original Lionel base with cab 1 controls. These systems co-exist just fine. You can run old non electronic engines with both systems. These are sure good times for us 3 railers ! ( when I do lash ups, I normally have a non powered engine in the group )

Good folks to deal with. 2. Train Collectors Association = TCA has a wanted section in thier "exchange" If you dont belong yet, it is a club with real value. 3. Ebay, I search once a week for items. Lately people think they have gold and the prices are way over what I would pay. The engine you want will most likely fetch the original retail price, as it was a limited, one time run.
