BladeFit is a great fitness adventure! It is the modern rebirth of ancient martial movements, taken from the great warriors of old. In a man's time of greatest need, his sword was his truest companion when all else had failed. These warriors moved with such skill, the world even today marvels at the beauty and power of the sword. Sword training has an amazing pedigree starting at least 5000 years ago. BladeFit unlocks these ancient movements for a modern age, awakening the power of the ancient blade against contemporary foes, stress, obesity, inactivity, despair, and navery. Blade Fit has molded these complex moves into simple steps, taking away the need for years of training under the careful eye of a sword master. I invite you to take up the sword with me and wield it in the cause of good health. Please help me and share these videos to all who want to experience a fun way to be fit.

What swords are you using?
Those are just Red dragon synthetic swords with basket hilts on them.
@@BladeFitAcademy thank you ❤️
What length do you cut the pex pipe?
We need a Thunderdome theme event ! Random weapons laying around. Go in unarmed, get to the weapons and use them anyway you can 😊 Bungee cord suspension would be insane 🤣
thanke
The Scotts welded the buckler to their swords so they could also hold the targe and dirk. They wanted all the attachments.
Be excellent to one another - love it
You know a way to make a shield for left an rigth hand user?
@@wvvargas1948 the straps and the paint are reversed. It's pretty basic, actually.
Very nice!
how in the heck do you assemble the wood in the tire? drill wont fit?
First, the legs can't be too long. They need play room at the inside part of the tread. Next you preassemble the legs together. Back out the screws of one leg, insert assembly pieces inside the tire, then screw them together inside.
@@BladeFitAcademy thanxxx!!
Served in Malaya with 1 RNZIR, our unit operated there from 1959 to 1989.Onward.
Hello, good video. I've seen the leg protection you're wearing, what sport is it used in?
Those are baseball catchers legs. But hockey has some good ones too.
Why not half circle guard?
HCG is for the inside. This is at the outside.
Not exactly how it was done back in 2007 :-) You holding it too high. It is tiring and not so useful. Head is where your helmet are. It is the most, and for the time of kite shields - the only part of You, protected by though metall. You DO want to take strikes on your head, and DO NOT want to open your legs. 2/3 of Wysby deads have shinbone slashed, cavalry and infantry alike.
If you're fighting 1v1 it's different than on the line. 1v1 you use distance (or measure) to protect your legs. You don't take a hit on your head as the blow still rings your bell and the chance of the spear, ax, sword striking an eye, jaw or open mouth is a real risk. Are you really just going to let your head take a hit? No, you're not. If the shield is too heavy, then get in better shape and use a lighter shield. Use footwork to control distance. If you're legs are open to attacks then you're not using the shield correctly. You are too close and your angles are wrong.
@@BladeFitAcademy well, back in 2000th we done our LARP with aluminium swords "100g lighter than real one and 3cm wide point". Never saw an eye or mouth hit in helmet: Pothelm/Topfhelm just as vashelm just as "steroid" viking helm with chaimail aventail has good enough face protection. Knee trauma on the other hand was a thing, treyd on both side: done and have. Yes I do take a sword blow with my helmet, which is good enough btw for freaking poleaxe :-) No bells if helm done properly. Back in time they sew that padding cap inside for a reason. Well head also can be defended with sword, shieldfightnig is all about level changing so it might be good to have one on top and one down. Opponent will come for your legs, and believe me YOUR legs are open. Especially for longer stuff like spears and daneaxes. Thoose also best at rippng knee tendons. Well this is my pre-HMB 20year obsolete point of view. P.s. mind also helmet sorta deny you from see lower level and keepeng shield high yu not onle leave low level defenseles, but also preventing yourself to see any left that helmet doesnt prevent. Shield high position good for charging for their legs, but not to stay in. Viking shields and targes and bucklers may made differnt story , but doors and kites made for more calm work. shield low sword in st. George and good to go.
@@BladeFitAcademy kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5l9wc2amquYdtY.html oh find a vid foya basicly what I am saying - kite shield is for more "Ukolov" way, and the longer and bigger it gets so more close to roman reenactors work. Way I described is more willy-nilly and rudymentary, then Ukolov do.
0:13 Why so high? On this clip it looks like you guard yourself rougly from shoulders up. I don't say its wrong - I don't do British, but I would not feel safe in this position, hence the question.
Whenever you stop it, it suddenly kills you in a real fight. We need to reconsider the rules. You can't turn martial art into a stupid sport.
I think you can. It's fun, really, sports. Combat sports are the best kind of sports. We know they aren't a "real fight." So?
Poor distance
What accent is this supposed to be
Did you have to do your own straps or can you find sheilds pre-made with that configuration.
I made my own. Thrift stores have inexpensive genuine leather belts to be repurposed. That's how I started. Now I just buy leather at wholesale for projects that I do.
This is so cool ❤
well i gotta change my straps on shield.. :D those looks very useful.
Im sure you had figured it out already - but for me anything else than slightly diagonal upward facing straps feels very unwieldy for fighting as infantry... :) maybe vertically straight up straps those also arent bad but thats more rigid and would be uselessfor cavalry. Those shileds were ment to be usefull for cavalry and infantry alike. Riders would probably use horizontal straps-
I tried to find more info about this Trebuchet technique but I wasn't able to. Is this a standard naming for the technique? Also the Orion or Athena position are quite exciting terms but are yours? Thank you
Yes, they are my terms. Keep in mind this is an exercise system, not a martial arts system. Firing the muscles will be different so even if I chose to use, as an example "from Vom Tag launch uberhau," then it still wouldn't convey the correct way to swing. Thus the easiest way to cut through all that confusion is to use different names.
@@BladeFitAcademy It makes sense. Pretty exciting stuff I must say. Is there sword workout #2? I am unable to find it.

This was very good - well presented. Plus timely. I am in the process of assembling a short spear (6 feet; 2 meters) for hallway defence in a non gun area. I was wondering how to go about incorporating a shield and this is so helpful. Now all I have to do is make it bulletproof and light weight. Oh, yes ... they get to have guns ...
Hypothetically, I wouldn't use a spear in a hallway. Not unless you have multiple people on your side with them. If I did have a spear, I'd also have a backup short sword.
@@BladeFitAcademy Definitely want to have a sword. Thnaks for the reply.
This is super cool!
Nifty 🦊
Thanks, man. Good vid
Does this shield hand-strapping work with a guige?
Solid work - just did it with my 1.4 kg. Sword - arms burning and godt a good pump for it :) thank you :)
Приятно посмотреть на процесс. Видно и опытных и новичков:). Видны все те же ошибки, которые и сам когда то допускал))). Хорошей тренировки, и без травм!
I eeally like your intro
very cool so is the horizontal grip you have here better than the angled grip we often see (with the hand grip angled up towards the top right of the back of the shield)?
That boils down to personal preference. The horizontal grip is historical and best for cavalry action on a horse. But on foot it's also fine. Shield hand moves around as needed no problem.
THIS LOOKS SO COOL!!!
Where did you guys buy your heater shields?
I made them.
Sword and Shield is my favorite weapon <3 I get that love because of Link from The Legend of Zelda! :D
THIS IS SO COOL
You all rock! 😎
We miss you, Elliot!
I'm building a foam Larp Shield and this is really helpful 👍 Thanks 👍
You mean achieved? What is this?
…what
Imma try this thanks
Perfect time to see this video 😅 someone at practice the other night asked about what to do with his mask because the forehead part of the liner has a bit of a tear and he wants to fix it before it gets too bad, i will send him this video
Oh thank god im not the only one who uses hammers for working out 😅
Did you ever post a video on how to build this pell?
How have you found the 3 bar? Has it held up? Do you happen to know the weight of it?
It's closer to 900g the 3bar. These are not light dueling sabers. They hold up very well and can go against other heavier swords with confidence. I know mine has really held up and is still like new minus some normal dings.
Kudo for the DIY with the dual straps and padding to demonstrate an interesting application of I33 using a heater shield. 👍 Regarding the lack of padding for the arm on the inside of the shield, if mail shirts were common at the time it was in use then a gambeson/doublet + mail might've provided sufficient padding, so instead you'd prefer to leave plenty of space and freedom of movement to easily slide the arm through the strap, so maybe that's why (leather) padding was eschewed. Any such padding also might also become quickly worn down by abrasion against the mail. Just a cosmetic observation, but the bulky, glaring, red leg armor doesn't suit the rest of you outfit, so it might be better reserved for sparring. 😁For demos, perhaps some dark leggings would look better and possibly also allow you to move more easily?
The romans carried those big heavy scutum shields on their left hands without arm straps.
Awersome!!!
Question: did YOÙ ever stand a duell/ holmgang yoyrself? 😊
Well I compete in tournaments and spar twice a week. Does that count?
A WEELLL, sports saber as opposed to "serious" saber, sorry for my spelling as A: I 'm German B: I'm slightly drunk, C: I have had a few REAL sabre duels (sharp and HEMA semi sharp)
