80 thousands is the recommend minimum clearance. You should of checked the clearance with the camshaft as well. I'm assuming it didn't hit the camshaft but they do come close and they will hit on some builds.

Your original pistons were flat tops. They generally have valve reliefs on both sides so the piston can be installed in either direction. Basically their made dummy proof. A domed piston can only be installed one way because of the dome. So only one side of the piston will have a relief. If it was me I'd get as set of open chamber heads and have the block decked to zero you'd make more power doing that.

Polishing cases is an art and there exists no easy or quick way to do it which is why when done right it is so sought after. It is labor intensive and tedious. Begin by vapor blasting with fine glass beads to clean everything. Then you will cut up credit cards to various sizes to cut the aluminum flat and progress from 80 grit all the way up to 2500 grit using a cross polishing method. After that you will use rotary tools with felt bobs and mothers to fix any micro scratches and then again with flannel wheels and soft cotton rolls & mothers to give it the final shine. Cerakote makes a new high temp polished aluminum clear that is also gas & solvent proof that can be used to protect it. Wax is the old method that works as well but requires more care. Bate aluminum will oxidize quickly and the protection will save you lots of headaches. Honestly you did an OK shade tree job and many that have tried to tackle such a project find out real quick how hard it is. The details are what matter and they are the hardest to do. A professional job on that case would require around 20 hours of labor and at a shop rate of $30 per hour you can see why it's so rare and only the big boys and show bikes have it done.

Just ordered some off Amazon for 2.8 volkswagen 30valve, and the box had oil all over and none of the new lifters could be pushed down,

Thank you for confirming that they are primed when new. I am rebuilding the valve lash adjusters on my v6 2.8 30v as well, decided to just take them apart and clean the gunk out and replace the ball bearing check valve while I was at it. The ball bearing had the slightest wear on the edge where it seals and I decided to err on the safe side and just replace the balls.

No, plastic slides or housings are not the problem at all… the reason for the wear is a dirty or modified air filter letting dust through… the dust between the slide and housing is what causes the wear… if you replaced your air filter at the specified intervals, this wear would not happen…! However, there are other issues with these carburettors, design issues in my view… if you place the long ‘jet needle’ down the centre of the slide, you will see that it hangs at an angle, and not straight down… inside and at the bottom of the slide there is a small shelf built into the slide causing the the white plastic washer on the needle not to sit flat… what I generally do is grind a flat on the white plastic washer allowing it to sit flat… but because the needle hangs at an angle, it wears the top of the ‘needle jet’, otherwise known as the emulsion tube… if you look carefully at the hole at the top of this emulsion tube, you will notice that it is no longer perfectly round, but oval… over time the bike is starting to run richer and richer… this is the reason… by the way, the needle also wears… so you need to replace both the needle jet and the jet needle… use standard genuine Suzuki air cleaners… the other problem with the air cleaners themselves, is you can’t see when they’re dirty… the recommended interval is replacement every 6,000kms…

The money you spent getting those pistons machined and rebalanced could of went towards a good set of aftermarket aluminum heads that would of worked perfectly with those domed pistons.

This is bullshit, the lifters can't expand more than its limit. The engine is obviously off when taking off the cam shaft so how can the lifter get over extended anyway.

Second stuff ,that is not a real way to bleed lifters .You needs a special players for disassebling that kind of lifters . Vw nummer pbwf 56821.😏

Big blocks pistons with domes are either for closed or open chambers. Open chambered pistons can only be used with open chambered heads while closed chambered pistons can be used with both.

The term is valve reliefs not release. You will have to fly cut the Piston domes if Summit will not exchange pistons. This is why you should measure everything on non stock applications. And this is why professional engine builders charge so much. Alot goes into building an engine correctly!!!
