Nice review Jameson
Thanks!!
I live my Bonafide. It’s not that same one, but it has the same seat and similar boat design. The seat is the most comfortable seat on a kayak I’ve ever used. No backache or sore knees after a long day on the water.
They crushed it with the seat!
Excellent review my friend! Very helpful, Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for watching!!
Brother, this one got in my feels! 🥹What I wouldn’t give to be able to fish with my ole man if he were still alive! A memory that’ll last a lifetime! Sir, you’re blessed! Great episode as always bud! Keep it up! ❤️👊
For sure man! I am 💯 percent blessed! Thanks for watching as always brother!
No one ever mentions, although you eluded to set up times, the whole experience with transportation. First off, it is a heavy and awkward (almost) 90 pounds to move while deflated and not as easy to do which is dependent on strength and age (for one person). As far as using it as a portable boat, going out obviously requires loading into your vehicle, unloading at site, inflation (about 35-45 minutes with one electric pump). Then after some time on the water, deflation, rolling it up, lifting and loading it into the vehicle again and driving home. Once home, naturally you have to unload it one more time, for a total of 4X lifting this thing and its motor. You have back issues, I wouldn't recommend. Lastly, the majority of owners of this boat, of which I am one, ultimately will get a trailer solely for the above stated reasons. It is a fun and stable boat. Great honest review, there is a lot to like about it. I do feel by the time you get a 9.9hp motor (many do), the weight of the motor (about 60 lbs for a 5-6 hp, or 95 lbs for a 9.9), you will have spent as much or more than you would have for a used, well equipped 12'-14' boat that already comes with a trailer in most cases. Again, great little boat, but the weigh of everything can just make it less enjoyable to use, hence again, why the majority get a trailer.
I agree that setting up and tearing down each time would be more difficult. I transport it fully inflated on my truck rack and throw the motor in the bed or on a trailer so I am dealing with the full set up and honestly, with a cart, I feel it is pretty easy to maneuver. I am not trailering it like a normal boat and can move it around at home and to the water with a kayak cart while fully rigged as I had it in the video. I feel this is the real advantage to this boat and having the ultimate option to store delayed if needed. If you are setting up and tearing down each time and can sacrifice the capacity, something like an inflatable kayak or the FishSup might be a better choice. Great feedback!
"Langes"
One issue you did not mention--where do you put your catch??
I am typically a catch and release angler, however when I do keep fish I go with a cooler bag on the bow! Easy and it comes off quick when I get to the truck!
Jameson what kayak would you recommend for fishing in the marsh? I’m looking at the PWR, Jackson Bite FD, and the Old Town Sportsman PDL 120.
Those are all solid options. If you plan to motorize, it would for sure be the PWR. I like how open the floor is without the drive. The Bite is awesome as well but would be more difficult to add the motor. If you were just going to keep it a pedal drive it would probably be the better option. I like the new belt drive and the way the lower unit kicks up without taking up more room in the deck. This is key when you’re shallow and wanting to stand and fish. Hopefully that helps. One more thing. I like to site fish, so I like motoring to my spots and then standing to fish which is why I personally like the PWR. Another great option to consider for motorization is the Nucanoe Pursuit.
Great review Gotta be committed and have the right water for that boat. What a tank.
Thanks! For sure. It is the right boat for the right situation! I think that is the cool thing about where we are with kayak fishing. So many options to fit different needs. In the old days, can’t believe I am saying that, we just put rod holders on whatever kayak and called it a fishing kayak. Now you can really be picky and dial in what fits you best!
What if a bull shark tries to take a bite would it hold up
Well I would say it would need a patch after that. Nice thing is it has 4 different inflatable sections so hopefully you can manage.
@@roadtripanglerI was asking because a bull shark attacked my kayak on a fishing trip beginning of the summer
You can buy lazy susans to put between the seat & the storage lids. No big deal. The fwd storage box should be a cooler. I would take the fwd storage box & rotate 180 to open from the rower.
For sure!! I have been meaning to do that for the front especially. Great thought on the front box and that would be easy to do
Nice video, can you link or specify those aluminum stands the kayak is resting on? Thanks 🍻
Thanks, honestly I found these years ago at an event. They had been left behind so I grabbed them. I have no idea who makes them. I also have a set of Suspenz rack that I like.
Nice one Jameson!
Thank you sir!
A strap is something I need to get just in case. My kayak is much smaller and it's one you sit inside of. I haven't tried it yet but you'd think a smaller kayak would be harder to get back into.
Actually sometimes they are easier unless you’re talking about one that has a really small cockpit like a white water or touring kayak. They take a bit different technique and some times even a friend.
Can it be set up as tandem? It would allow me to take my grandkids once in a while.
They could easily carry an adult and a child, but you would have to figure out a seating option. They aren’t “designed” to be tandem so it would just take some thought. I would also say it would depend on the size of the adult and child. I am 225lbs and my son is 8 and probably 70lbs or so. We can do it but he is really getting to the point where for space and comfort I would go with a bigger option
Fishing with family. It doesn’t get any better than that, Unless you find a hunny hole. Thanks for sharing that.
For sure! Thanks for watching!
Love the Smallmouth
My favorite!!
Smallmouth fishing, so much fun! Love it!
They are my favorite as well!!
How many have torn? Because it's inflatable, it doesn't seem durable.
I have two inflatable kayaks, this inflatable skiff, and two inflatable rafts. I have never torn any of them. I got a couple of pin holes in one from sharp fish fins, but it took days to leak down and I was able to patch it really easy
I like the Project M. How did you mount the rotopax and other items. I cant find a molle panel to work. Are you mounting straight into the side of the wall for the recovery boards. Thanks. Once again beautiful.
Hey! Mine has the track option on the sides and I made a plate out of aluminum to span from one to the other. Bolted it on and then attached the rotopax to it. For the MaxTrax I did the same but they are just attached to the top track bar with the bracket. You can buy their bracket and do the same. There is a Molle panel made to work with Four Wheel’s track spacing. Here is the link to it too: prospeedrack.com/collections/accessories/products/four-wheel-campers-molle-panels?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3kljU7IP6ohOqsB0wNf7F04HskedUylC5thtbDV36qL9jxF1KnF-CQJsU_aem_kt9nIiTsy_zsv3C-E8ac4A Hopefully that helps! I love my set up. Thanks for watching!!
That’s awesome. Much appreciated. I have some old road signs that would work perfect but I will check out the molles you suggested. I will need one. Take care. Great channel btw
Thanks! Glad I could help! I like the DIY methods lol.
What a day! hootin and hollerin at the dam. Love it
It was a blast for sure!! Hard to leave them
MAN!!! That was an incredible trip! Thank you for sharing it. Only bad thing is I didn't get to come with ya!
It was a blast! You need to come explore some of our waters.
Great video james looks like a ton of fun
Thanks! It was a blast!
What’s the dust situation with that camper? I’m on the fence between this or the regular camper.
So at first I had some around the tailgate. Not the camper but around my truck tailgate. A bit of bulb seal in the areas that needed it took care of 90% of it. I see a little when I am on really bad roads but only around the bottom edge of the gate. I needed my truck to haul stuff so this was my only real option and it had been awesome!
Awesome video! Always fun hitting the river with a friend for some fishing and friendly competition
Thanks!! For sure!
I used to catch them with live shrimp, good times.
For sure!!
I used to love fishing in Everglades Natl Park. Great video.
It is a beautiful place
Max PSI in the water is safe! Because you have the water as a cooler. If you pull the boat out of the water it is recommended release some air 1 to 2 psi out.
For sure. I typically inflate a few below max regardless still very rigid!
Awesome walk-through! I have a jackplate and powertech on my Heron 16 and i can jack up super high! You definitely have a ton of room to raise your engine. Especially with that stepped transom pushing the water up. One other thing i did was added a cavitation plate on my Tohatsu to hold the water around the prop and help with trim. It acts as an extra tab. Love my Saltmarsh! Wouldn't trade it for anything..
Since I filmed this I raised it to the top holes on the motor and man it performs way better! It would be hard for me to ever want a different boat. I mean I would like to have the new Caicos too for shallower applications but that is a but I haven’t hit the lottery yet lol.
Awesome review. How is this thing handled waves, chops, wind from the big water.
Honestly I have not had it in really rough conditions but I really think it would handle it just fine within reason. I would take it out on a small craft advisory kind of day but I wouldn’t take any small skiff out.
Great work, Stephen!
Do you have any videos showing a motor install on the NRS? Looking for light weight river kayak
I do not, but if anyone does it would be Jeff Little. His channel is The Little Stuff. I plan to keep mine simple since I have a motor on my coosa. I know his is fast with the motor though!
I love river fishing, but it does sometimes feel like work. Glad y’all at least caught some fish. Makes it all worth it.
For sure! There are moment when you question if it is until you catch a fish in some small little pool lol.
Great view, were you say you got the camper,I.m looking for one Hope you can help. Mark
Hey Mark. I got this direct from Four Wheel Campers, but they have dealers all across the country. I am not sure where you are located, but here is a link to their page that can help direct you: bit.ly/3Vd2XQW
What are the life jackets you are using in this video? Looking for something minimal that isn’t bulky.
These are the NRS Chinook, but I have recently tried the Zander from NRS and really like it as well
No plug knocker? Great fish!
Nope just the lure. Thanks it was a blast!!
Nice!
Thanks!
Lewis ATV, Paddletails, underspins and chatterbaits for sure but I stopped using Z-man plastics, just too much trouble. I had 3 packs(original package) in the top of a soft tackle bag melt. It's been up in the 90s this month but they should not have melted in the original package.
Yea they can be tricky sometimes. I just love that they float and seem to out last anything else once rigged. It has been hot like that here too. I am ready for some cooler fall weather!
How shallow can you go?? Jet boat shallow? 6-10 in
It floats in around 6” I would guess. It probably runs in 10. Or very close to it. Just make sure you get a short shaft motor to do this.
can you add more seats?
Yes. It is available in the three seat configuration and the only difference I can see is where you attach the seat to the frame holding. Should be as easy as moving one over and installing one beside it.
Excellent walk thru!
Thanks!
Boat fish dont count!
lol. I will take them.
Thanks for this comparison. Would be interested to see a comparison of the 3-man options. Appreciate the information that you gave here! Very helpful.
Thanks for checking it out! I have not had the opportunity to try either of the three man rigs yet, but would love to!
Nighttime fishing to beat the daytime heat!! 🎣 🌙
For real right now…it’s hot
My kayak flip over once so I just climb on top of it and paddle back to shore on a upside down kayak.
That is one way to do it!
Great review thanks please keep me updated getting mine soon
Thanks!! Will do!
Fantastic review. I wish this was available before I bought mine, I'm glad I took the chance and bought it. Great skiff, lightweight and durable. Tons of fun. I had a 6hp on mine and it felt like I needed a bit more with 2 adults, put a 9.9 on it and works great! SeaEagle customer service is great as well. I've had 2, 200lb+ adults on it and no stability issues at all.
Thanks for watching!! I am enjoying it for sure!
Since it’s 16 ft, it must be registered and have a state registration number plate attached correct?
In NC, yes. If you are motorizing any vessel it has to be registered. Mine is but the permanent numbers and NC sticker had not come in when I filmed the video.
Excellent episode. I live in the PNW and love our fishing, crabbing, shrimping, etc Thank you for sharing
Thanks!! It is an amazing place with so many opportunities!
Brilliant review of a solid fishing machine! Well done!
Thank you very much!!
