Metamora Martial Arts

Metamora Martial Arts

Metamora Martial Arts offers karate and tai chi chuan classes for kids, teens, and adults in Metamora, Illinois. Adam Bockler leads this program. We teach shinmei Shorin-ryu karate, old Yang-style tai chi chuan, and Hsing-i chuan.

Metamora Martial Arts, established in 2002, was formerly an after-school karate club located at Metamora Township High School that held classes at Metamora Grade School, Riverview Grade School, and Germantown Hills Middle School.

Metamora Martial Arts was inducted into Black Belt Magazine's 2008 Hall of Fame for Best Children's Program and Best Humanitarian Event (Relay For Life Break-a-thon).

We offer classes through the Metamora Park District.

Comment: It matter less whether your “methodology” of the form differs from someone else's than it matters whether or not you understand the function of the postures. (As we’ve all been taught, form without function is meaningless.) Clearly these people do not understand the function, which makes their form meaningless, and hence ugly. Once a Tai Chi form devolves into meaninglessness, perhaps it should no longer be called Tai Chi. On the other hand, your "Crane Spreads Wings" is hilarious! Well worth watching the video.

Regardless of the comments, a student learns what the teacher has also learned. And there are many genealogies in Yang style. They have their own methodology as it has been changed and evolved with the passage of time. It is a beautiful form, and it does have the "flavor" of an old Form. Knowing what I know, the applications must be deadly... But the practitioner may also derive great benefits health wise.

Silly as hell. I hate these demo's. Used to be involved with them for years. You don't ask an attacker,..."ok now throw a punch" and have them telegraph is in ten different ways. This is how you train people to get hurt.
