What did you have to do to make it fit?
Ever consider drilling the holes larger and using the stock metal collars?
@@SpeakerKevin I haven’t. But you could easily.

There was no doubt in my mind that you would get that little imposter running as good as it ever possibly could . And to do for "free 99 " was the kicker .I hope your friend appreciates the time effort and knowledge required to make it happen . Niffy spark plug tester at the 6:13 mark .I need to aquire one of those for sure . Do you recommend the one you use or should I be looking at different models out there ? free stuff is always awesome Thank you Tim ,great ripping brother. been there with one of the kids on a crf 150 ;-)
@@mrsmel269 heck yea! I think I need to buy a bigger bike soon. How you like the 150?
the 150's are wicked im 190 and she would rock me around (sadly never got a topspeed run on gps befor we sold it ). what do you want to do crazy ripn or just have a nice yard bike. we got a new 2020 klx 140l and ya in not a kx85 or a crf 150 but shes not as needy either. just hit the start and go. with our weight stock she does 55 vs 64 on the kx85 . to me 2 strokes are easier to work on. you or me could swap a piston and ring out in a hr or so where the 150 to me is a little more indepth (but thats me). if you were to go just buy something the kx 100 that would be on par with a crf 150r but less needy. sorry i was rambling but i cant wait to see what falls into your lap. if i can help any more let me know and enjoy the rest of the weekend
@@mrsmel269 all good man! Glad to get your input. My youngest son loves to ride. But he’s special needs. So I toss his legs over the bars on my Z50 (it’s got a big bar kit). I’ll need something with grunt to haul us both. He’s getting 2 big. Together we’re already over 300 lbs. so a 4 stroke is what I’ll need.
glad to help brother . look at the xr 150l (you can change the tiers to more offroad later)too i want one but there even taller then the klx140l so my oldest daughter didnt sit right. but you can ride it to the store being its really and enduro and it has rear pegs so you can sit a little farther back so your son is still in front of you untill hes good to go on the back . the price is right 2900-3300 ish brand new and well worth every cent

With an observation between ones that worked and ones that didn't, i noticed the feed ramps were slightly different. With a dremel and careful polishing I shaped them the same.
Would have been interesting to see the volts of the battery with a multimeter before you swapped it out with the lead acid.
@@Chris_Z. I did check it. It was still at 13 volts. I just didn’t film it. Weird I know.
I have a 2006 Gsxr 600. Yellow and blak like yours. I added a volt meter cig lighter 12 v on my handlebars so i can check voltage as i ride. I have had the dreaded Stator/rectifier problem a few times. It takes my gauges out then the count down from 14.5 to 8.volts as I ride and it shuts off. I'm glad i watched your video, I was also hesitant to upgrade the battery now I know not to. Sorry...this happened and I hope you get your money back.

The lead acid battery in my DRZ was toast after a year. I would recharge it and it wouldn't hold charge for a week. Got a lithium-ion battery and it's been great. I describe the weight as a pack of cigarettes compared to a 6 pack of beer, which is important in a DRZ where the battery sits high and out the back in the bike. The cold cranking amps are greater too Scott which is why the big Suzuki fires up fast. I don't know why the bike doesn't like the battery but that's weird and I'd get rid of it (the battery not the bike never get rid of the bike!)
@@CRFLAus yea. I’m going to try it in my DRZ and see how it does. Not sure why the K5 doesn’t like it. I’ll keep everyone posted on how it does.
I couldn’t run my gas line the way that you did, it got crinkled up right off of the petcock. Same petcock and fuel line. I ended up having to go across the carb and back to get it to connect without crinkling up. Hopefully this doesn’t cause an issue.
@@phistry810 should be ok. I’ve seen people do that.
Falfa would be smiling."Paradise Road Baby "😊
@@Fogman5678 paradise road!
Lithium batteries will fail if charged above 13.8 volts for any length of time. I tried one of those Anti-Gravity batteries in my old Sportster and when I checked the charge voltage it was around 14 volts so I figured close enough! Wrong! After about 20 miles my voltage regulator was smoked and the battery was destroyed. If you have a newer bike that was designed to run Lithium you should be fine. I would not try to run one of those in an older bike designed to run lead acid. Charge voltage and internal resistance on Lithium batteries is not compatible with older bikes.
Great info. Thank you!
Man I've got a question. I've got a 2014 drz400sm. I put the lower links on but I can't get the front to lower. I loosened the 8 bolts but it's not budging. What am I doing wrong.
@@davidlee5931 the front is only going to lower about a 1/2 inch before the girl tubes hit the bars.
@linksgarage1985 it's got a rizer on it so I should be able to lower it about a inch and a half, but it's not moving.
@@davidlee5931 have you suspended the bike in the air and tried to pull the fork tubes out?
@@linksgarage1985 no I didn't. I kinda thought if I left it on the ground the weight of the motorcycle would help.
