Where is Gleaming the Cube on 4K?
Well said on longlegs, Russ I pretty much went in with no expectations and not knowing much about it, felt like I was in the right headspace
Longlegs. What a pleasant surprise. Cinematography was great love the acting love the ambience the vibe the moodiness the sky shots looked fantastic. The clouds the color you could really tell they were in. Where was it? Seattle or Portland Pacific Northwest. I thought this was a beautiful example of taking something like seven or silence of the lambs or even the whole trope of serial killers and making it original or putting a unique twist on it at least. This movie felt familiar but at the same time I really enjoyed it.
I’m convinced every positive review on Beverly Hills cop for Axel’s daughter is paid for. After watching this, I’m gonna have to go back and watch three and see if I enjoy it more.
We totally missed out on Judge Reinhold‘s chemistry with Eddie as well as Joseph. Why not have Eddie and Joseph rescue Judge early on in the film and have them on the run from the bad guys for the rest of the movie boom 😂
I thought the new roadhouse remake reboot did it correctly when it comes to revisiting or retooling a popular franchise. I’m also a huge fan of Doug Liman and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Beverly Hills cop Axel‘s daughter was awful and I’m so glad Russ feels that way hahaha!! What a wasted first half where was Kevin Bacon? Where was Joseph Gordon Levitt? Why am I watching his daughter? Who is his daughter? Where did she come from? Was she in the third one I have no idea. Anyways missed opportunity. Also the Music supervisor was terrible that last scene when they all jumped in that big truck and they’re about to like embark on this crazy Adventure accompanied by one of the worst rap rip off songs of the main theme I’ve ever heard. My humble never made a movie opinion 😅
I recently picked up bad Lieutenant off of Amazon per your recommendation because it was super cheap and I absolutely loved it. I’ve been a huge fan of his sense reservoir, dogs and pulp fiction. I pretty much grew up on those movies but bad Lieutenant always seemed a little bit too intense for me as a kid and it was the first movie I watched on my new 4K TV.. lieutenant was bad ass! “ show me use your mouth!” Have you guys checked out last exit to Brooklyn…. Recently washed it on prime, it was pretty radical. Also, thank you for the fear. City recommendation recently watched that and enjoyed every single moment of it. The movie milk money makes a lot more sense for me with Melanie Griffith lol

France have the first release because Studio Canal is French, it’s september, I prefer the french is still mono, so you have the mono mix if you watch it in french audio 😅

I was already a Slater head when it came to true romance, and I think my first introductions were gleaming the cube, legend of Billie Jean, and up the volume. I even got into his as you put it Harrison Ford phase with Kuffs and hard rain
Great reaction. I live in Bulgaria and saw this movie years ago - maybe 2011 or 2012. Bulgaria and Serbia are Balkan countries and the population is slavic. We slavs people have much common - we hate the politicians, hate goverment, hate outside influence and basicly hate our neighbouring countries :D This movie is somewhat metaphor of how our politicians and the system are programmed to destroy our lives before even we are born. It's not that edgy, it's not that gross if you look it that way.
Based on your review of the soundtrack of Dead Presidents ,I ordered my vol 1 and 2 and get them Aug 12th.Also ordered the movie on Prime video.
Got my copy in the mail today. Great movie. That Tangerine Dream score. The 'sex on a train' scene, just a classic film. I spent my summers at my grandparent's as a kid and was planted in front of the TV watching movies on HBO I shouldn't really be watching and this was one. I don't know why movies like this clicked with me then but they've stuck with them ever since.
Some sleepers that don't get enough credit: Parasite Mission Impossible Fallout Midsommar Deadpool Shadow These are reference discs that don't get enough recognition
I own Shadow and Fallout personally, and agree. Shadow is especially fantastic
I would say Laika Studio’s Coraline and ParaNorman are both reference quality upscales. I can’t even watch the Blu-Ray for either movie, the 4k makes them look awful.
I've got several of these releases in 4K. I'll give you props on that German version of Never Ending Story, absolutely insane level of detail when seeing it in person.

"Desperado" was shot on 35mm film, perfect for 4k. I think the reason why they didn't bother with the other two movies, despite lazyness, is because "El Mariachi" was shot on 16mm film, and "Once Upon A Time In México" was shot on the ugly digital cameras used for the "Star Wars" prequels that had a native resolution of 1080p. Though you can still extract grain detail from 16mm scanned at 4k, as "The Evil Dead" 4k release proved it, you can't do anything with a 1080p source, that's all the detail there is, upscaling it only generates "waxy" looking result.
I know now that i dont like Tim Burtons work 🤔

Jared Leto is great when he's used well like in Requiem for a Dream, American Psycho, or Lord of War
Jesse and Grady should totally have got together in that film.
Night of the Hunter is an oddity. There is so much that is brilliant about it but the occasional bit that is clunky.
I love this movie and I’ve owned the DVD since 02. Does it need a 4K version? No. But I will most likely rebuy it 😅
5:10 credit ONLY to Jean. Luc wanted to take it wayyyyy further. Look up the original screenplay - it had Leon sleeping with Mathilda. Thankfully, Jean protected Natalie on this movie.
Boogie Nights soundtracks for the win. Perfect use of "Hidden Tracks" to include the Dirk Diggler songs.
The Hitcher 4k Pre-Orders are finally up at Second Sight and Orbit. 🥰 I would recommend Orbit to save on S&H.
Yes!! Diabolik has it for a few bucks cheaper, but I grabbed it on Orbit before I realized.

Some of the Hitchcock classics look amazing in 4k
It's 2024 and these "Collector's Editions" seem more like lost treasures than manufactured items. It shouldn't be this difficult to find these things.
Are you serious? “No other ones exist”. You actually indicate that you think you are the only channel talking about physical media? What kind of drugs are you full of? Maybe it isn’t drugs at all. We have countless physical media channels and have for a very long time. You are laughable. Bragging on yourself with only 41k views in an entire year? I can’t stop laughing. How many subscribers do you have? Only 8000? Spare change has 103k subscribers alone and over 1200 videos. Get some humility and stop bragging about yourself. It’s pitiful. And lose the weird guy next to you. He is just baggage. What a fail to be boasting like you do.
I hope you guys do a 4k review for Twister for your channel now that it's out. It's an awesome disc and there's no need to watch the dated bluray ever again.

Russ, you are indeed a principled man. Pink refuses to sign the sobriety note for the football coach and the 11 year old Russ instinctively knew it was the truth. 30 years later you won’t be quiet when a superstar like Tom Hanks speaks out of both sides of his mouth regarding his role in “Philadelphia”. We both agree : principles matter.
Does Stranger Things have a 4K physical release? If season 5 provides a great ending for the series, I might consider buying a complete collection. Season 4 is not my favorite… Season 3 was a’ight. Season 2 was a bit of a reboot of Season 1… but all is forgiven if they stick the landing with Season 5. And then END IT!!
You don’t need to stretch the aspect ratio. Just let it be whatever it is. You’re not missing anything just because your TV can handle wider images. I don’t get why people have hangups about that. And many TV shows were indeed shot in a way suited perfectly for 4K (color and resolution) simply because many shows, surprisingly enough, were shot on film. (Some sadly weren’t, and will never look very good. Bosom Buddies being one.)
