    Why do you like bad boys 2 the best it was way too long and noisy, and offensive to women the first one was more coherent and critics were more kind to it not to mention it had better charachter development and it had the iconic theme for the series the second one didn’t have it.

  • @maxerinmovies
    @maxerinmovies13 күн бұрын

    @@carsonpeterson758 A movie is as long as it is and I do not mind the length of movies if it keeps me interested. It is an action movie with explosions, so noise is expected. Like many male led movies that include drugs, sex and violence objectify women and the first two films both catered very much to the male gaze. I do not base my opinion on what other critics say. I was entertained enough by the action to not need much character development, like many superhero movies, or a fun action film such as John Wick. More often than not, themes are introduced...in the first film, so it makes sense the "iconic" theme is introduced in the first and not the second. That argument makes the least sense to me. EDIT: *the John Wick franchise

    Thanks for the review. I skipped this one and it’s good to know I didn’t miss anything. I’ve seen your other reviews and I know you are pretty much shooting from the hip. As you know a lot of the “bigger” reviewers on KZread are also really engrained in the industry to the point you wonder if their reviews are being altered to make sure they are staying in the good graces of the industry. Whenever I see a reviewer give a positive review and they are literally standing in front of an IMAX sign and saying not only see it but, “see it in IMAX!” Yeah…I’m going to be suspect of that one, and usually I’m right because as you know Hollywood has put out a lot of big budget stinkers. Anyway, keep up the good work.

    @@PhoenixFit2024 thank you 🙏🏽 I really appreciate the support. There may be some who are given incentive, and there are others who want to be in the industry and are more careful with what they say in hopes of not burning bridges. I think this movie is perfect- I may be biased though. I’ve seen it three times. The first time was for myself (I heard the movie was trans), the second for a trans friend group, the third for a different trans friend group. I have to disagree with you about the cinematography, although i understand where you’re coming from. I think that the cinematography itself being uncomfortable is more emphasis to the themes of being uncomfortable with one’s own body. I also think it is used insanely skillfully- like in the scene with the blow up astronomy globe, it encourages us to not only think of the character speaking in a mythological way, but also to consider ourselves in the same way we consider these characters. At its heart, I think it’s a Greek tragedy, a myth for the modern world, and it wants the viewer to understand it in that context. Very glad to see your video though- I appreciate different perspectives

  • @maxerinmovies
    @maxerinmoviesАй бұрын

    I wasn't uncomfortable with the cinematography and I never got "uncomfortable" from that, but I you may have seen something or felt something I did not, and you interpreted it differently. I see it as a tragedy, but I don't see where the Greek tragedy comes from. The monologue in the globe was fantastic.

    I think the fact that they don't go into why each are fighting is a good call cause it makes it more realistic. Many wars go like that, and while (spoiler) the president's forces are presented as the "bad guys" the other side does pretty heinous war crimes. War is just war, there are no good guys.

    Max, I’m so happy you gave roses to Archie Madekwe. 🌹 He brought the depth, layers, complexity, truth, remorse, anger, love, realness, honesty, heroism, intuition, and forgiveness to the character. He is truly amazing with all his style and substance. Let Farleigh’s voice of truth speak up loudly and proudly against the lie so we should finally understand more. He spoke to evil. He heard evil. He had seen evil. The evil is Oliver. Farleigh sensed everything. He deserved to be a good hero. He’s one of my all time favorites. I hope he thrived, strived, and survived to break a 15+ year curse. 🙏🏾

    So here’s my take on the metamorphosis of this franchise. To me, the first Godzilla (2019) was the best. Once they started incorporating more human tendencies and attributes into his personality and physicality, the series states to decline. Yes there has been more action with each new installment. But they’ve sacrificed storylines for fight scenes. With the CGI and over exaggerated camera work, it’s become less realistic. Now I know these monster ARE not real, obviously. Lol. What I saying is,…I feel like the stories and cinematography from the 60’s Godzilla movies, with the guy in the rubber suit, stomping all over a miniature village or city, were more exciting and believable than what they’re producing now. I was born in 1963 so maybe I’m a little biased. Lol. But if you go back and watch, say, Monster Zero, or Destroy all monsters,.. you’ll kind of get what I mean. Btw. I haven’t seen this one yet because I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed.

    this review is a misunderstanding of both the film and its praise. you attribute accolades for this french-german production to nostalgia for the “golden age of hollywood” and basically break it down to people liking it because it’s old when in reality, it’s much more nuanced than that. this film appeals greatly to a niche audience that appreciate it for its hypnotic, gothic, experimental, and dreamlike qualities. with this film, dreyer set out to create a waking nightmare that blurs the lines between dreams and reality, an aspiration i believe he achieved with flying colors. oftentimes, the dream logic of this film either gets lost on people or just isn’t their thing, which is okay, but that’s not an issue with the film. it’s simply not made for everybody.
