    If brake sensors on E-bikes are such a safety issue, why aren't they mandated on motorcycles? I'm 70 years old, I now own an E-bike. I have owned three motorcycles in my life. Any of them, massively more powerful than my E-bike. Now my life is in danger without "brake sensors".

    If you can make over 50 percent of travel with an ebike it justifies having it. If you have a bike already, even more so. The carbon emissions and pollution in america is worse than horrendous. It is lower than shameful, that some cars, just 10 miles can be over 30lbs of co2 emissions is just ungodly and despicable and less that worthless. The importation of efficient cars is the only thing that is needed, but every politician has thier crack pipe dream and its turning it into the nightmare we all thought could be averted. Its the old irresposnible ways that bring everyone down. It should be just 1 law passed every year to make significant impact on emissions. Like easy ones. Like import audi a2, or allow manufacturing in the country of high fuel efficient cars. Its dead simple. But they make it into a regulation nightmare, and expect me to buy new cars and shit!??! NO WAY NEVER!

    I've been riding with a Tongsheng motor on my mountain bike for around 5 years now and never ever had any brake sensors on it. It has never bothered me either so why would I put them on now. I certainly would never change the hydraulic discs for mechanical ones; that would be a safety issue as far as I'm concerned.🚴

    I'm not 100% sure if that is the main reason, but my PAS stopped working after messing up with Speeed software. The throttle/pedestrian mode worked just fine, but suddenly no PAS at any level. After many attempts I finally managed to make it work again but I have no idea how I did it and why I lost it. Brand new BBS02b 750W. I'm pretty much familliar with all the settings.

    Good video, thanks for posting. Is there a way to speed up the PAS response? I have gone through all of the settings and now my throttle works much smoother and the PAS levels are just what I want. However, the Pedal Assist comes on way too slowly, only after 2 complete revolutions of the pedals. Is there a setting that controls this? Thank you!

  • @3DPDK
    @3DPDK28 күн бұрын

    All you have to do is mount your bike with your hand on the throttle and no break sensor cut-off and have the bike jump out from under you or push you to the ground to realize the value of break sensors and power cut-off. For advanced controllers the break sensor is what triggers "regenerative breaking" which puts power back into the battery.

  • @dumbkoft96
    @dumbkoft967 күн бұрын

    Here's a tip. Don't put your hand on the throttle when mounting.

  • @3DPDK
    @3DPDK7 күн бұрын

    @@dumbkoft96 A good tip and easily followed ... except for that rare occasion where you don't follow it. I don't really understand the argument against the break cut-off. Why would you want power going into the motor when you are trying to stop? Aside from that, some controllers use the signal from the breaks to activate regeneration. It's not necessary, but it helps in breaking and it does extend the range of the battery to some extent.

    Hi. I consider to use a Tongsheng TSDZ2b on a recumbent bicycle (HP Velotechnik Speedmachine). The frontwheel has a diameter of 20 inches (backwheel 26 inches). Is the velocity sensor also compatible with a 20 inch wheel? This would save me from considerable extra wiring on the bike.

    Se non ho capito male, la batteria che hai scelto è agli ioni di litio mentre la BC che hai scartato sarebbe stata una LifePO4. Io avrei preferito quest'ultima per la sicurezza.

    These brake sensors sound crazy. If you were driving a stick shift car, your right foot would move between the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal. There is no brake sensor thee. Just as you would luft your right leg off the gas pedal and press the brake pedal, effectively cutting off the gas to the engine, you would do the same with your right hand fingers, I.e. remove from the accelerator and grab the brake lever, cutting off the power to the wheels. In this sense, a finger activated press type accelerator wold be the best since the finger will have to be removed to grab the hand brake in ebike.

    I like the way you think about setting it up. I personally set max speed in all PAS levels to 47. That gives me right around 70 RPM for my pedaling cadence. Which is right where I like to be. So the PAS levels will only determine how fast I get up to my preferred cadence. If you set all those speed settings to 100%, you would always be ghost pedaling, and it will not affect the throttle whatsoever. So I don’t know what that person was talking about. Just set throttle to be the same as PAS level nine and you will always have full power and speed from it.

    Great video and comparison. Just to let you know you can buy a programming cable for the BBS O2 for around $10, and you can change all the parameters about it that you mentioned in the video that you wish you could. And it’s very easy to use you just hook it up to a laptop.

    I watched your videos years ago and keep watching. I started with bafang bb01. Good motor and never had any problems but it has no torque sensor. Then i got tsdz2 48v. The ride feeling is much better. I installed osf and also better. But then it broke water damage and could not remove the stuck galvanised screws as I needed I change the blue gear. I got a new but the tsdz2B version. That lasted 6 months broke again with water damage when I cleaned and so had to buy another. I got instead a toseven dm02. It’s more water resistant and has more power and better cooling than tsdz2. They update the software and it’s easy to install. Also the display is better than tsdz2.

    Great video Luke - exactly what I was looking for. I just converted to a Bfang mid 250w which run just fine from level 1-9. Upon converting another bike to 500w - the power seemed excessive even at low levels, and my concern is now understanding how to respect the CH ebike limits. Look forward to watching your other video see what else I need to learn. E vedo che hai tovato la bellisima zona del lago di St. Sulpice!

    Cranks are NOT Levers...They are Cranks! Levers are what you use to remove your tires.... I took the Left hand Thumb throttle and replaced it a regular Right hand rotational throttle...I modified my Grip to make the throttle fit look like it was integrated into the grip ....my original Front Chain ring was a 44 but I replaced it with a 36.....I can climb anything with it.

    I modified this to keep a constant speed with varying power levels. Great! Thank you so much for this. Way better! In detail. I tend to ride with the same cadence no matter what. Since you adjust your speed with gears, not cadence (as lower cadences are less "efficient" for your legs), I set PAS 1-8 speed to 65 (upper comfortable limit for me). PAS 9 is 100% speed. This feels much more natural, as I can pedal as fast as I want, but control the assistance. If I want less RPM I change to a higher gear with lower PAS. My settings are as follows: 0: 0, 0 1: 11, 65 2: 24, 65 3: 36, 65 4: 49, 65 5: 62, 65 6: 75, 65 7: 87, 65 8: 100, 65 9: 100, 100 With throttle set to current and PAS 9, I can quickly overtake without spamming the PAS adjuster. The first setting is great for a little push when cruising, but you don't really need any more to keep your speed. Set the speed to a percentage to where you're just bearly uncomfortable. Above a certain cadence you start to loose power, so there is a sweet spot (I would say between 60-90rpm) 65% of 130rpm should be around 87rpm.

    I don't know. The Prize tag on the Bafang in my country costs 70% of a cheap brand new Ebike.... unless you find it dirt cheap somewhere it's just not worth it in my case. I rather give 30% more cash and get everything already build on a new bike. But this is a very good video. Totally illegal if the speed limit of 25 kmh is not used in my country. Well thanks for the good video.
