Hello! Welcome to my skating channel! I want to share my love for the sport and my progress. At the age of 23, I started skating and will keep going. Figure skating has changed my life completely. Sit back and enjoy the ride! We will learn together
A tip is not to turn your head away from where you’re gonna spin while winding up. Instead, look in the spot where you’ll be spinning

You look so graceful❤️ what would be your best tips for ice skating cause I want to get into it
@AmandaTheAdultSkater2 күн бұрын
Aw thank you! And yaaay so happy to hear that! I would start by enrolling in a learn to skate program near you and see if you can go do a fitting for ice skates if you dont have a pair already. Then look into off ice training, there are a lot of videos on youtube! I would also suggest buying a spinner so you can do off ice spin training! The edea spinner is great, I also bought a square spinner because it stays in place so if need be i can practice in my small apartment. And the most important, is dont give up and be consistent! Hope this helps 🥰

On busy freestyles, I usually practice edge work and jumps. Usually for me, if skaters see I’m about to jump, they’ll give me some space. The only thing I can’t do on busy sessions is my program.

That's the trickiest part for me because when I try to practice my jumps sometimes skaters don't move and then I feel like I can't really practice what I need to practice. But thanks for your tips! 😊

Your salchow is actually really good imo! When my coach was teaching me the choreography for my program yesterday, he taught me how to do half lutz and I've never done flip or lutz before. I overthought it once or twice but I always find that I'm more confident doing new things when my coach is watching. It's a pretty fun jump! Also I've found that when I time my jumps with whatever music the rink is playing, it makes me feel so much more confident.

How do you know the ice won’t break? 😅
@AmandaTheAdultSkater3 ай бұрын
There were people out ice fishing and cross country skiing so I knew it was safe. Also its has been snowing a lot in the mountains still. But you cant tell if its safe if the ice looks black or clear. If you drill into it and it measures at least 4 inches I believe, its safe. But always be prepared with a vest and something to dig yourself out in the worst case scenario. Im still new to lake skating so I try to educate myself on how and what to do to stay safe. Hope this helps!

It kinda seems like during the spin, your weight rocks from the spin spot to the heel of the blade and makes you fall. I struggled with that for like a year with my forward scratch spin, but you'll get it eventually :)

Hello! I'm also an adult figure skater. I live and train in Tokyo, Japan (but I'm not Japanese). I just found your channel. I enjoy following other skaters. I think tips of how to smartly spend money skating will vary depending on which country the person lives and what the rules of the rink the person trains are. Here there's no such thing as buying ice practice time in bulk. You practice, you pay. I pay a monthly salary to my private skating coach. In normal times, she coaches me twice a week, one hour each day. Or one hour and a half each day if she has time. I practice on my own about 3 hours per day 5 days a week (sometimes 6) I practice 1 hour, then 6 minutes break, 1 more hour, then 5 minutes break, then 1 more hour . I also attend a technique group coaching session once per week. For important occasions, then I am coached everyday prior to it. Given the rules of my home rink, I would only see three ways to spend less. One would be less private coaching, so the coach's salary will be less. I wouldn't recommend, since private coaching is really important. Another would be skipping any special technique group coaching lesson (we pay for these per month as well). And less but not least, just analyze overall expenses and not spend money on unnecessary things, if like me, skating is a priority. Off ice as you say, is also important and I wouldn't skip it. I train with an off ice private coach as well ( he wants to be paid every 5 sessions), and I am a member of a gym near my home and near the rink (I live very close to the rink), so I go there as often as possible to practice on my home the exercises my off ice coach gives me. Regarding videos. Coaches around here highly frown at the use of any kind of videos for learning skills so that would be a no around here.
@AmandaTheAdultSkater3 ай бұрын
These are great tips, and that is amazing you put so much work into it! Thank you for some more insight! Where I live I am able to buy ice time in bulk so that is very interesting and I never thought that it wasnt an option.
@LolaSkates3 ай бұрын
@@AmandaTheAdultSkaterI really really wish they let us pay the ice time per month. There are other rinks in the Kanto region (the region where Tokyo is located) where they do sell monthly passes for ice time, but my home rink won't do it for whatever reason :( More than the financial savings it would really be convenient to pay once per month and then just go.
