John Minarcik Fine Art

John Minarcik Fine Art

Hello Everyone and welcome to my channel.
I have a very loose and fun way of painting that I would like to share with you. Yes, we need to go over some basic skills that every good artist must know like value and composition and color mixing, but we will go beyond that. We will look at a scene we like and just paint it. If creating art isn't fun, then we are doing it wrong.

    Nice. Good job you did exactly what you should do with wood panels amd that is to SEAL them front and back and the sides aswell. Shellac is a great sealer, same with rabbit skin glue or PVA glue(basically an acid free white glue, ive used it all), after sealing the entire surface then few coats of gesso on ur painting side, some people only seal and gesso one side but that can warp the panel sometimes especially mdf boards. After i do those preparations i usually paint a layer of toned oil paint and let it dry(i usually use lead white because its the best surface ive ever painted on and that its the most archival and etc.) Once all is said and done you have your self an oil primed panel(in my case lead primed). Also ive been watching you for sometime my man. And im 30 years old, well now 31 technically, but I TELL YOU WHAT MY FINE GOOD SIR, I KNOW WHO COLOMBO IS THANK-YOU VERY MUCH(thanks to my dad, we would watch DVD sets of Columbo, original The Twilight Zones and original The Outer Limits...good times) SO WE YOUNG FOLKS ARENT ALL DEGENERATES PAL.. Lol just giving you a hard time, btw my dad is from Southern Illinois himself. Grew up around Carbondale and etc. Keep the paint flowing my friend! Cheers! P.S. i still cant figure out for the life of me figure out who the in the hell is this "wolfman jack" character you mentioned an episode back or so... was he that one cartoon character that would howl and the lady stage performer, and be very animated?! I haven't a clue about that one.. 🤷‍♂️ Peace! ✌️

    Thank you for the comment. I enjoyed it immensely. Wolfman Jack was a disc jockey back in the 60 and I believe into the 70’s. Once you hear his voice, you never forget it. Have a great day and thank you for tuning in.

    Thank you for explaining. The paint so what is difference between acrylic paint and water soluble oil ?

  • @johnminarcikfineart7673
    @johnminarcikfineart767327 күн бұрын

    Water soluble oils are real oil paints. They dry like real oil paints and act like real oil paints except for the clean up. Acrylics dry very quickly and have an acrylic polymer binder whereas oils have an oil binder like linseed or safflower.

    Hi John, I'm sure I'm one of many but this female subscriber is very appreciative! So generous of you to get out your Georgians and make this video! It was very helpful for me as I have those exact colours. I never knew what to do with the viridian before. Thanks also for the detailed information on how you're using the brushes and choosing colours. I have zero art education so this is all very helpful. Your painting turned out beautiful, I will have a go at something similar and no doubt mine will have lots of flowers!

    Hello, one of your female viewers here. I'm a complete beginner so I find detailed explanations helpful. I enjoy discussions of materials and setup as well as the techniques you share. I have a set of Georgian oils (not the water miscible ones, the ordinary kind) so I'd be interested in your thoughts on that - and a video if you feel like it. I want to paint solvent-free but I just got some Michael Harding Miracle Medium to try. Your paintings are beautiful ... thank you for your videos.

    1. You have nothing that holds your canvas - so you use your left hand? 2. Talk talk talk - no action - no useful advice - sky comes after trees, lol. The clouds end up in the center of the openings, because you are afraid to overpaint the shitty trees that need overpainting anyway. Dilatants use arrogance. 3. Just one camera on tripod? No cameramen who zoom in when needed or a second camera position to avoid your arm covering the canvas? 4. Cleaning brushes with a paper towel? Not enough for oil painting. Just forget it. Okay - so - presenting for 10 + minutes scribbled BS on a canvas is a solution? You are not a teacher and not a painter. Clickbait without any value.

  • @curtcoller3632
    @curtcoller3632Ай бұрын

    It is unbelievable how some people won't stop talking, because they love themselves so so so much. They can't paint nor can they narrate - but they start talking after a few brush strokes and won't stop. This man is one of them. Last not least: I've never ever seen a painter that starts without designing the sky first. This guy sucks. Every later stroke of his brush makes his painting worse. No "happy accidents", just wwot weird waste of time. John, please, give it up and don't think your thoughtful explanations are helpful. A ten year old can make a better painting.

  • @johnminarcikfineart7673
    @johnminarcikfineart76738 ай бұрын

    In the beginning stages, yes. Remember, we are covering it with thicker opaque paint as the painting progresses. That thin paint mixes with the thick and the consistency is no hinderance to the final work. Thank you for the question.
