Ppl are complaining about the horse not getting praise after the jump, well no amount of praise will fix what that jump did to that horses joints, he'll retire with the worst arthritis pain an animal can have around 10-14

As incredible as that jump was, my biggest issue was how hard the rider was yanking and see-sawing on the horses mouth. It already looks like he has a harsh bit in his mouth, no need to rip his teeth out, he looks like a calm horse. I don't understand some riders, I swear.

I know this is 8 years late, but I see lots of problems that I wanted to point out. First: He wasn't going fast enough. he was pulling the reins TOO much. The wall is fricking 6 '11' Its dangerous for him AND the horse. It probably hurts to land from that tall height. And she looks overworked. People don't care about their animals, only the fame. They think horses can jump so high but there is a limit. Humans obvi CAN'T JUMP 6'11''! If you can't jump it, then horses won't be able to, either. PLEASE protect your animals and STOP horse abuse.

He's not a honorable horse person. The 5th largest outdoor show in the country. I'm there. Younger, but I'm a fox hunter. His horse refused a jump. He started beating it. Not a corrective slap, a hard beating. The speculators booed, & yelled for him to stop. The announcer told him to leave the ring. The ring master walked out to remove Rodney from the ring. He was banned from the show. The horse was terrified. We wondered what happened to the horse. This incident was reported in a horse magazine. Believe the American Horse Show Association suspended him for a while from showing. Me, & many others lost respect for him. Being a horse person, his actions were extreme. Rumors among others said he was harsh with his horses. That beating certainly showed it.

It's a good thing there wasn't any loose or missing bolts. Would have had a very different outcome.

Horse is stressed, lame on the right hind, is being pulled very harsh, jumps extremely high while being lame, doesn't immediately get praise... How does this man even ride horses.

Jesus christ how much do you want a horse to be fighting against those reins???! It's almost like I'm watching dressage.

The comments in this thread are so obviously from people who have ZERO understanding of horses and the show jumping world. This horse was professionally trained and ridden and happy by all measures. The rider was kind and soft. Counter cantered to the first for a reason, looks like a snaffle bit. If you have ever ridden a hot horse, you need some control with the running martingale. So many stupid people comment in areas where they are not warranted. Find some other BS to screw up. This is NOT one of them.

So my 16.1 hand stallion and me cleared 2.18 meters CLEAN!! Which is 7'1 FT, went to go do it again and I was a goner....flew right over reins still in hand....that might sound bad but the best part was as soon as he saw me hit the ground he started to whinny and started licking my face. My horse and my cat....two best friends I ever had in my life!

Funny the amount of people who have never showjumped above a meter, trying to criticize this guy for how hes holding his reigns or him not patting the horse lol. If anyone in the comments was riding that horse they wouldve fell head first, stop complaining like a hag when you know nothing.

A horse that can jump 200 cm + is very strong and will do whatever he likes if your not strictly guiding him, you've probably only ridden cold blooded horses that take 10 kicks to walk
