This video was poorly researched. 6:19 The rifle on the top isn't an FN FAL. It's a German HK G3 made for the Portuguese, another firearm used by the Rhodesian. HK G3, FN FAL, FN Uzi, FN MAG, and FN Hi-Power or GP are some of the most common weapons used by the Rhodesian.

As a Zimbabwean, who has had to move abroad in order to provide for my family back home, I admit that Rhodesia was better. We had functioning hospitals, were the second most industrialised country in Africa, behind South Africa, had a stable currency, we had one of, if not, the best education systems on the continent. Well maintained and well managed clean streets, streetlights, waste collection services, roads and railways. Regular electricity and running water, jobs etc. On the whole the benefits far outweighed the negatives. As for the negatives the government was actively working to find ways to overcome, them which is more than I can say is being done by the current government. Its sad to see that South Africa is choosing to copy Zimbabwes mistakes.

The whites were running into South Africa which was then a white run state, for protection. They gained it. Rhodesia went from being richer than SA, to run down by Mugabe where you needed a wheelbarrow full of money to buy a loaf of bread. Basically the country got destroyed. SA a few years later went down the same path by allowing the ANC to take power, and today its full of crime, hardly any electricity, the Rand keeps depleting, and the government is corrupt.

The fact that the war was between the whites and the blacks in Rhodesia is factually incorrect. In fact the bulk of the Rhodesian army was made up of black troops and the Rhodesian African rifles was dedicated to permanent black servicemen, I know because I was in that Regiment. The Rhodesian war was in fact a conflict between three ideologies, Russian communism, Chinese communism and Rhodesia. The majority of black guerrilla Fighters were in fact press-ganged into service. The atrocities that were inflicted on the black population by the guerrilla forces, to force them for support, have never been repeated so gruesomely again in any war since. I have seen instances where woman's breasts were cut off and she was forced to eat them, penises were amputated and the entire village watched in horror, ears were sliced off, informants were sliced up, all in front of the villagers. The black population was terrified of the guerrilla forces and would succumb to their demands, That is the true story of the war in Rhodesia and why it was eventually lost by the multi-ethnic Rhodesian security forces.
