    Hi…that's strange, i've had it in my "daily rocker" for 2 years and it still works perfectly after at least 100 hours... from time to time it needs a service and an adjustment...

    @@raceduckracing mine keeps coming loose after a few minutes running .I’ve tried different loctites .even super glue on the adjusting nut but it just won’t stay locked .it’ll run for a few minutes and then just stops dead while the motor spins .but there’s no drive .I’ve tried two or three of them after getting them replaced .I’m only running a torque tuned in it ,not a brushless system either.I just went back to the stock drive after getting fed up of taking the shaft off ,farting around with a 1.5 mm Allen key to tighten it ,putting the shaft back on every few minutes .is yours the mk1 version or the mk2 like mine ?

    @@craigpimlott204 Hi…mine is the MK2 too. Did you grease it befor you assembled it? As written, i use the Ball diff. in my Daily rocker and it works very propper without problems.

    Hi, I've been dreaming to have a Sand Scorcher. Are all your upgrades are Tamiya Brand? If not can you tell where to buy it? Thanks for the great video. 👍

    Hi Jojo, The most „hop ups“ like the additional bearing, the stabillzer or the metall front and rear bumper are self made…or from 3th part stores like the full metall rims (rc-channel) or the dashboard (custom-cuts)

    @Raceduck Racing Thanks and good to know. When time comes, I hope you can still give some advice/pointers to make my Scorcher like real thing. Good luck and keep up with your Channel.

    Hi Reno, you are right and if I make another follow up video (of course I have other extensions installed on the scorcher) it will be better. This video was a "project" for my son, he wanted to participate in making a youtube video, thats why i registered at YT. I'm not a professional KZreadr as you can see from my other videos and I'm surprised myself at the response so far

    @@raceduckracing That is great. You guys did a very nice work and it must have been a ton of fun doing that with your son. I watched the video 3 times because of the text speed hence my comment. But it also means I really wanted to know bcse it was very interesting 👍🙏

    I got some messages about the orange MANN stickers. Since unfortunately all the stickers that you can buy are not correct (wrong dimensions and/or writing) I made them myself on water transfer film. An original, unrestored MANN oil filter housing from 1968 served as a template. The stickers are now perfect in shape and colour.

    Any recommendations for suspension mods? Id like to get some better shocks. Also did you find the diff to be helpful? Great video cheers

  • @raceduckracing
    @raceduckracing2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Xander, i exchanged the o-rings for silicone ones and installed the shock absorbers upside down. Thats all. The original shock absorber works still pretty good (...and there are 45-50 powerpacks on it meanwhile ) I use 200 oil in the wintertime and 350-400 oil in the summertime. The Diff i think is an must have. Without it, it is almost impossible to drive a fast curve without tipping over. I still have the first one in there and it works still great :-)

    Cool mod - but I’m guessing front wheel friction makes little difference to a sand scorcher since the front wheels barely touch the ground most of the time.

  • @raceduckracing
    @raceduckracing2 жыл бұрын

    Hi, you got the point…thats why i made all these (and some more) mods, to get an proper road holding. With this „less as possible“ clearance at the front the scorcher runs straight ahead also at higher speed and steering is more accurate. Of course…in rough terrain its still hopping, but not this hard as before

    You have really made a good build. I can't find suitable ball bearings for the front axle for zero clearance in steering and suspension, can you tell us the size of the bearings ...

  • @raceduckracing
    @raceduckracing2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Thomas, i made an extra Video for the front axles setup...there are all measurements in., just look in my (very , very small) channel :-) By the way ... yesterday I had to change the engine because it was extremely worn after more than 40 battery charges (3600Ma) and I also had to change the lower forearms because both were broken after a very strong chrash ... but the axle shafts and ball bearings are running still without any clearance

    Wow that is so awesome! The Scorcher was my first kit build RC and a favorite one at that! I still miss it to this day and often want to replace it. I built mine in late 1979 and had it for many years! It even sat on the shelf of a hobby shop for several years on display, but sadly when times got hard as they often do I sold it! Don't sell yours it's beautiful! Nice job!

    My story is the same, and I always wanted to replace it. It was never quite as great as other RC cars of the 80s, but Tamiya models were always the best looking, and most realistic, and that was always what made me love this model.

    Hi, frontlights ar easy...backlights are a lot of work, you need to drill out the case and glue in the backlight glas (comes as clear glas with the Bodykit and needed to be colored, i used bulbcolor for that)

    Hi there, the engine is the Tamiya super stock BZ (with ball bearings) and the battery is an 2s Lipo pack from Arrow. At the moment i use the new TBLE-04SR ESC, if you use an TBLE-02S, you need an additional fan.
