The greatest One Chicago couple ever! Their chemistry was insane, their banter during the flirting phase was brilliant, and when they finally got together, they were just so in love! Plus, goes without saying that they are both smoking hot! It sucks so bad that it all got ruined! Also, in season 4 it was clear that Voight was going to turn up to be Erin's real, biological father, and I'd love to see the storylines involving three of them: Voight, Erin & Jay, with the mix of their personal and professional lives! The exciting possibilities of various storylines here were endless! It would bring back happiness in Voight's life too, after losing Justin, he would have a daughter. Not to mention that it would bring Voight and Jay closer together, because after marrying Erin (which would have eventually happened if Sophia hadn't left), Voight would have been Jay's father-in-law. So we already lost the amazing storylines on the show by losing Erin.

No other times were as thrilling and as good on this show as the first 4 seasons when the action and criminal cases were brilliant, the humor was great, and relationships within the entire Unit were impeccably written, with all of the members of the Unit acting like friends and family towards each other! Some storylines were already hit or miss in seasons 5 & 6 but mostly it was still good, and then the show completely lost its identity more or less in the middle of season 7. Because the initial few episodes of season 7 were actually quite brilliant, but it went downhill fast when they wrote the atrocious Marcus West storyline, and what they did to Jay 'thanks' to this stupid storyline.

2:13 The look Erin threw after him... You could tell she was already totally in love with him. And who wouldn't be! The man is a dream: hot as hell, badass, excellent cop, great soldier, caring - who took care of his mum when she had cancer and he was always the most caring son from what Will said a few times on the shows, emotionally matured, loyal, honest, trustworthy, funny, with a hilarious sarcastic sense of humor, stable, warm and loving. And this was the original Jay! I say original, because anyone who has been a PD fan and watched the show from day 1 till now, knows that the new, awful showrunner Gwen, ruined Jay and wasted his potential from mid-season 7 till season 10 when he left the show. The last three and a half seasons of this show, it is not the same show, it's awful, and most characters are very badly written now, and got ruined. So this Jay, in this video clip, is the real Jay we all love - the original Jay who was there with us until mid-season 7. I'm glad that Jesse left because the new showrunner and the main writers don't have any respect for the source material, for these characters, and thus the actors, who literally gave 10 years of their lives (like in the case of Jesse), so a decade of hard work for this show, and their character and thus their work got only disrespected in return. The current Chicago PD and the showrunner Gwen Sagan are a disgrace! Jesse absolutely made the right choice to move on, when he saw how Jay's character, so his whole work, got botched and disrespected!

He also ripped up the paper with the number right away, exactly because he wasn't slightly interested in the lawyer. He loved Erin more than anything!

Erin and Jay have hard times, but they were always there for each other and as much as it is a show, we know that they were endgame if Sophia had not been abused. If they had been respected in the workplace and respect won instead of machismo, they would probably both still be in the show, together, maybe married, maybe with children. Erin and Jay - the greatest One Chicago couple of all time, next to Gabby and Casey in Chicago Fire. But Linstead is still number 1. They had such a brilliant bond, so natural, the most natural chemistry and bond among all One Chicago couples. Their banter was brilliant and so realistic when they were still in a flirting period and they hid from Voight, the sexual tension was insane! And it's normal and kind of a given since Sophia and Jesse were together in real life for quite a long time. If Sophia didn't leave you just know they would be an endgame. Also, Jay was such a different character for the first 6 seasons. He was a badass, he was hilarious with his sarcastic sense of humor, and he and Voight actually got along fine, especially since season 3. Yet in season 8 (and already a little in season 7) the writers retconned everything. Jay became darker, he rarely joked, and he also became more tormented in relation to Voight's methods, and I didn't like it since I wanted them to become closer not fighting. And it didn't make sense at all, because again - they already were getting along great for years, so yeah maybe a little conflict here and there wouldn't be bad, but not a deadly serious fight as they did have, and also most of it was because of Hailey. And it was once again the repeat of Jay and Erin's situation, and it was a completely dull and stupid idea. Since seasons 7- 8, they made Hailey into this hardcore girl with a dark past, exactly like Erin, and it didn't make sense because in the first two seasons, Hailey was literally a great, fun, stable cop and entirely by the book, which was refreshing in her relationship with Jay, and it was actually what Jay needed after how things ended up with Erin - which was messy, dark and dramatic. I thought Hailey would be different, I thought she would be this safe, stable place for Jay, and she was that, for the first two seasons. They worked great together as platonic friends and partners in seasons 5 and 6, then in 7 it was still great between them, tho in season 7 they already changed Hailey's past and behavior to dark, so they changed her entire background and it was a giant mistake. Because all this darkness from her past and her and Jay's behavior, put together with the seasons 8, 9, and 10 dark storylines between them, the one about the secret, about Ray, and about the FBI mess, made them both - Hailey and Jay - mostly miserable, tiring couple. Which changed them both to completely different characters that the fans loved, I especially talk about Jay here. The writers had a chance to actually do smth completely opposite to what they did with Linstead, they had a chance to give Jay a great, stable, supportive partner and relationship with Hailey, but yet they decided to go by the same route they did with Erin and Jay. Only the problem was, that it worked with Erin and Jay because Erin from the get-go was organically constructed as this street kid with the dark past that Voight saved and brought up, and because Jay was this family, caring, more stable guy in the first 4 seasons, it all made sense and it made them brilliant couple that fit perfectly. We didn't need the repeat of this with Hailey, and it didn't work with Hailey exactly because Hailey was supposed to be someone completely different than Erin, and that's how they presented her at first, at the end of season 4 and in season 5. I agree with you, except in the part that they had chemistry. Many people say that Erin and Jay had no history, but they were just not very developed by the writers due to the problems they had with Bush. I feel like if they were okay with her, cool, cool script for the character, were they bad with her? Let’s ruin everything with the character. Sophia and Jesse gave an interview saying that they tried to show this connection in the small details and who really saw the show realized it. Erin has always been there for everyone, not just for Jay, but for each of the team, including Hailey. I had nothing against Hailey at first, I felt that she and Jay didn’t get along because of everything he had been going through, but then they became friends and to be honest, they should have kept it that way. I saw them as brothers. And suddenly, Hailey started to be extremely toxic. Her relationship with Voight looked like they were trying to make her closer to her than a boss and subordinate relationship. Then the lies. The totally unexpected dating, since Jay had never shown romantic feelings for her and suddenly kisses her? Really? WTF? Jay took years to say that he loved Erin and I’m sure it was because he didn’t want to scare her, he said those beautiful words to his brother when he decided to ask her to marry him, already with Hailey everything was in a hurry, in the middle of lies and a totally confusing story. Hailey rarely protected him as Jay and Erin protected each other’s backs. She was extremely emotional and unstable which led to harming people. Besides the fact that she stayed with Ruzek before. I feel like the show spoiled a good character, it could have a better development as you said. Many people don’t like to be told, they don’t agree, but the truth is that Hailey was a slap hole in the show. Maybe not in the first episodes, but then her story, her relationship with Jay and Voight and the manipulation was a failed attempt to bring a little of Erin, but Sophia was unique, original and irreplaceable. Another fact that makes me sure to be a slap hole is the fact that when Jay’s character had everything to advance in the show, simply the actor gave up and man, he was not happy and then 1 season later they announce that Tracy is also leaving the show. Seriously, from the season that Erin left until Jay left that she stayed, if that’s not a replacement for a failed endgame couple attempt, I don’t know what it is.

And about developments, seriously it’s 10 years, actually more than 10 years of series. Jay continued to be a detective, Kim, Adam and Kevin continued to be officers. Like, really? Had Kev already shown interest in rising from a position in the police and in 10 years he did not become a policeman? The series has stagned since Erin’s departure. No story, always the same thing, Adam and Kim for 10 years in a back and forth, Kev always alone and Jay with his partner, like, can’t you develop better? I’ve read fanfics about the show that has more development and the writers didn’t take 1 year to write it. With Erin at the show, we saw Kevin being a joker and having Erin’s support, while he shared the desire to grow in the police. We saw her supporting Kim to rise to intelligence. We saw her having a chat about relationships with Adam. She was Julie’s friend. She became the older sister Nadia needed. Mia (from the first season) was being excluded for being an informant and Erin put her to work. The one who was next to Al to deal with her teenage daughters. The one who took care of Justin m, supported Olive and was an excellent aunt for Daniel. In addition to the incredible relationship she had with the children and how everyone from Fire and Med loved her. Jay and Erin had a very quiet relationship at the show, but they were partners, they were silently next to each other, their looks said absolutely everything. He supported Rixton when he joined the team and took Upton for his first interrogation. That with everything she went through in her life, being the best person she could and always helping. And I was almost forgetting about Mouse, because she was the bridge so that Mouse wouldn’t enlist and go back to Afghanistan fighting with Jay. So yes, you can pass as Jay said, 2, 5 or 20 years old, I will always be protecting an Erin/Sophia from everything. Because he was the best character on the show.

The exciting possibilities of various storylines here were endless! It would bring back happiness in Voight's life too, after losing Justin, he would have a daughter. Not to mention that it would bring Voight and Jay closer together, because after marrying Erin (which would have eventually happened if Sophia hadn't left), Voight would have been Jay's father-in-law. So we already lost the amazing storylines on the show by losing Erin. No other times were as thrilling and as good on this show as the first 4 seasons when the action and criminal cases were brilliant, the humor was great, and relationships within the entire Unit were impeccably written, with all of the members of the Unit acting like friends and family towards each other! Some storylines were already hit or miss in seasons 5 & 6 but mostly it was still good, and then the show completely lost its identity more or less in the middle of season 7. Because the initial few episodes of season 7 were actually quite brilliant, but it went downhill fast when they wrote the atrocious Marcus West storyline, and what they did to Jay 'thanks' to this stupid storyline.

The man is a dream: hot as hell, badass, excellent cop, great soldier, caring - who took care of his mum when she had cancer and he was always the most caring son from what Will said a few times on the shows, emotionally matured, loyal, honest, trustworthy, funny, with a hilarious sarcastic sense of humor, stable, warm and loving. And this was the original Jay! I say original, because anyone who has been a PD fan and watched the show from day 1 till now, knows that the new, awful showrunner Gwen, ruined Jay and wasted his potential from mid-season 7 till season 10 when he left the show. The last three and a half seasons of this show, it is not the same show, it's awful, and most characters are very badly written now, and got ruined. So this Jay, in this video clip, is the real Jay we all love - the original Jay who was there with us until mid-season 7. I'm glad that Jesse left because the new showrunner and the main writers don't have any respect for the source material, for these characters, and thus the actors, who literally gave 10 years of their lives (like in the case of Jesse), so a decade of hard work for this show, and their character and thus their work got only disrespected in return. The current Chicago PD and the showrunner Gwen Sagan are a disgrace! Jesse absolutely made the right choice to move on, when he saw how Jay's character, so his whole work, got botched and disrespected!

Their banter was brilliant and so realistic when they were still in a flirting period and they hid from Voight, the sexual tension was insane! And it's normal and kind of a given since Sophia and Jesse were together in real life for quite a long time. If Sophia didn't leave you just know they would be an endgame. Also, Jay was such a different character for the first 6 seasons. He was a badass, he was hilarious with his sarcastic sense of humor, and he and Voight actually got along fine, especially since season 3. Yet in season 8 (and already a little in season 7) the writers retconned everything. Jay became darker, he rarely joked, and he also became more tormented in relation to Voight's methods, and I didn't like it since I wanted them to become closer not fighting. And it didn't make sense at all, because again - they already were getting along great for years, so yeah maybe a little conflict here and there wouldn't be bad, but not a deadly serious fight as they did have, and also most of it was because of Hailey. And it was once again the repeat of Jay and Erin's situation, and it was a completely dull and stupid idea. Since seasons 7- 8, they made Hailey into this hardcore girl with a dark past, exactly like Erin, and it didn't make sense because in the first two seasons, Hailey was literally a great, fun, stable cop and entirely by the book, which was refreshing in her relationship with Jay, and it was actually what Jay needed after how things ended up with Erin - which was messy, dark and dramatic. I thought Hailey would be different, I thought she would be this safe, stable place for Jay, and she was that, for the first two seasons. They worked great together as platonic friends and partners in seasons 5 and 6, then in 7 it was still great between them, tho in season 7 they already changed Hailey's past and behavior to dark, so they changed her entire background and it was a giant mistake. Because all this darkness from her past and her and Jay's behavior, put together with the seasons 8, 9, and 10 dark storylines between them, the one about the secret, about Ray, and about the FBI mess, made them both - Hailey and Jay - mostly miserable, tiring couple. Which changed them both to completely different characters that the fans loved, I especially talk about Jay here. The writers had a chance to actually do smth completely opposite to what they did with Linstead, they had a chance to give Jay a great, stable, supportive partner and relationship with Hailey, but yet they decided to go by the same route they did with Erin and Jay. Only the problem was, that it worked with Erin and Jay because Erin from the get-go was organically constructed as this street kid with the dark past that Voight saved and brought up, and because Jay was this family, caring, more stable guy in the first 4 seasons, it all made sense and it made them brilliant couple that fit perfectly. We didn't need the repeat of this with Hailey, and it didn't work with Hailey exactly because Hailey was supposed to be someone completely different than Erin, and that's how they presented her at first, at the end of season 4 and in season 5. I agree with you, except in the part that they had chemistry. Many people say that Erin and Jay had no history, but they were just not very developed by the writers due to the problems they had with Bush. I feel like if they were okay with her, cool, cool script for the character, were they bad with her? Let’s ruin everything with the character. Sophia and Jesse gave an interview saying that they tried to show this connection in the small details and who really saw the show realized it. Erin has always been there for everyone, not just for Jay, but for each of the team, including Hailey. I had nothing against Hailey at first, I felt that she and Jay didn’t get along because of everything he had been going through, but then they became friends and to be honest, they should have kept it that way. I saw them as brothers. And suddenly, Hailey started to be extremely toxic. Her relationship with Voight looked like they were trying to make her closer to her than a boss and subordinate relationship. Then the lies. The totally unexpected dating, since Jay had never shown romantic feelings for her and suddenly kisses her? Really? WTF? Jay took years to say that he loved Erin and I’m sure it was because he didn’t want to scare her, he said those beautiful words to his brother when he decided to ask her to marry him, already with Hailey everything was in a hurry, in the middle of lies and a totally confusing story. Hailey rarely protected him as Jay and Erin protected each other’s backs. She was extremely emotional and unstable which led to harming people. Besides the fact that she stayed with Ruzek before. I feel like the show spoiled a good character, it could have a better development as you said. Many people don’t like to be told, they don’t agree, but the truth is that Hailey was a slap hole in the show. Maybe not in the first episodes, but then her story, her relationship with Jay and Voight and the manipulation was a failed attempt to bring a little of Erin, but Sophia was unique, original and irreplaceable. And about developments, seriously it’s 10 years, actually more than 10 years of series. Jay continued to be a detective, Kim, Adam and Kevin continued to be officers. Like, really? Had Kev already shown interest in rising from a position in the police and in 10 years he did not become a policeman? The series has stagned since Erin’s departure. No story, always the same thing, Adam and Kim for 10 years in a back and forth, Kev always alone and Jay with his partner, like, can’t you develop better? With Erin at the show, we saw Kevin being a joker and having Erin’s support, while he shared the desire to grow in the police. We saw her supporting Kim to rise to intelligence. We saw her having a chat about relationships with Adam. She was Julie’s friend. She became the older sister Nadia needed. Mia (from the first season) was being excluded for being an informant and Erin put her to work. The one who was next to Al to deal with her teenage daughters. The one who took care of Justin m, supported Olive and was an excellent aunt for Daniel. In addition to the incredible relationship she had with the children and how everyone from Fire and Med loved her. Jay and Erin had a very quiet relationship at the show, but they were partners, they were silently next to each other, their looks said absolutely everything. He supported Rixton when he joined the team and took Upton for his first interrogation. That with everything she went through in her life, being the best person she could and always helping. And I was almost forgetting about Mouse, because she was the bridge so that Mouse wouldn’t enlist and go back to Afghanistan fighting with Jay. So yes, you can pass as Jay said, 2, 5 or 20 years old, I will always be protecting an Erin/Sophia from everything. Because he was the best character on the show.
