    Thank you very much Alex Campbell was a stalwart of the Glasgow folk scene in the 60's and Rab Noakes the writer of the song also a great performer sadly both now in the great folk club in the sky.

    I don't know why, but especially this take really reminds me of a song in my native Danish, about an old man working to pave roads the old fashion way, smashing rocks into smaller bits to use, weathering terrible wind and cold, until his body gives out.
