  Recently bought a ps2 because i missed playing with mine as a kid ended up buying a shit ton of classics like Onimusha, GOW, prince of persia sands and two thrones, gun, hulk, tony hawk3 and shadow of the colossus so bunch of cool games but only 4 of them can be read lol

  I need help with my PS2 slim please. My PS2 fell to the ground a few months ago. Now the lid won't pop up whenever I press the eject button and I have to open it by myself because I lost those springy things for the lid and lens would move up whenever it boots up my game and stays that position, making the ribbon scratch my discs. I put a piece of plastic behind the lens using hot glue to prevent the ribbon from scratching my discs. When it boots up my game, I start to notice loud clicking sounds coming from my ps2. It was my lens trying to move up, but the piece of plastic I put there is blocking it, making a clicking noise. The only game I could play is GOW 2. The only problem is that whenever I load my save file, the lens would slightly move up. Any way to fix it?

  Thanks for posting this helpful info, great walk through. My slim has cooling fins by the fan. Like others below I had a few issues but resolved them. I bought my slim from a friend who said it was broke and wouldn't play games! Funny thing is that my Need for Speed 2 is up and on right now. It's scratched up from 17 years ago but now is ready to play with a new laser. You saved my quarantined summer!! Tip; take a picture of your assembly, mine did not look like the one in the video, but used the 802W laser assembly.

  I was completely inexperienced with the desoldering and was still able to make this work. So glad I found this, much cheaper and easier than trying to get a refurbished PS2 from GameStop (which was busted before they even shipped it to me.

  Note: I found out the hard way that if the ribbon cable isnt tucked down well it will scratch disc's in a short time.

  Thanks for this video! I have a Platinum color PS2 Slim that recently stopped reading PS2 games and DVDs and will only play audio CDs and PS1 games. I've tried cleaning the lens multiple times and have tried tons of discs and still no luck. Will try replacing the laser module, as I really don't want to give up my console yet! Platinum Slims seem to be somewhat rare.

  Hi, this is the first video I watch where I see a SCPH-90004 model like mine. My PS2 has been broken for about 5 years, I brought it to a technician, it cost me € 30 but when I got home it didn't work ... what an anger not for the money, but because it didn't work. I bought a lens for around € 10 I removed the tested antistatic solder and it doesn't work ... reason? Wrong lens. Can you post a link on a right lens for SCPH-90004? If you can
