    This helped a lot when combined with other YT reviews of the Isle SUPs. I just ordered a pro 12" bundle and plan to use the stand/sit option on long, slow-current river trips. The only issue left is vehicle transport between entry/exit points, but some places have that, and in others, I might get creative and drop an eBike locked up at the exit location, which will allow me to take the air out and strap the equipment on my back/bike to eBike it back to the car. This is of course when I do not have someone else with a second car. I truly hope the new rigid system makes it feel like a hard board = this is the main reason I never purchased or used an inflatable SUP. To me, nothing beats the true feel of a SUP hard material board, so let's see if the Pro series gets close enough to a hard board.

    I'm interested in this too. I live here on the pacific coast. I typically can take my hobie revo 13 out a few miles out to fish in 120ft or so of water. Often we get hit with nominal wind up to 20 knots or seas going 4-8ft. Is this safe as a kayak as an inshore option? Are there any drawbacks on having an inflatable vs plastic kayak on the ocean such as being swept out in currents more easily perhaps?

  • @Islesurfboards
    @Islesurfboards11 күн бұрын

    We wouldn't recommend taking this or any kayak a few miles offshore, however if you did do that definitely have a motor at least for back up! It won't be any more easily swept up in currents, etc. vs plastic boats, but wind will definitely affect your ability to paddle, as with any high profile boat. 3HP Torqueedo or Newport Vessels motor is a GREAT option to add.

    The 1/4-20 threads on the board say "Ensure fasteners are proper length". Could you specify the minimum and maximum screw length ignoring the thickness of the item I'm attaching? Meg3 doesn't have an action camera mount so I want to make use of those 1/4-20 threads.

  • @Islesurfboards
    @Islesurfboards21 күн бұрын

    The depth that the screw can go into the mount plate is about 1/4" - you can go a bit tighter without hurting the board, but that is the depth of the part itself, so you don't want to go below that as you'll start to hit the board itself with the screw.

  • @AB-bu8ti
    @AB-bu8ti21 күн бұрын

    @Islesurfboards thanks for your quick reply but that doesn't sound correct. If the screw is too long it will puncture the board. If the screw is too short it either won't grab any threads or worse it will grab too few and strip it out. That's why I'm asking for the minimum and maximum screw length ignoring the thickness of any plate that's being fastened. My rough measurements with my calipers right now show that the threaded portion is about 0.2" below the surface so surely 1/4" is not a suitable length. I could guess and check different lengths but I'm hoping Isle will give me firm info.

  • @Islesurfboards
    @Islesurfboards21 күн бұрын

    @@AB-bu8ti There's not a maximum length because washers can be used to ensure the screw doesn't go more than 1/4" into the mount plate. The minimum will depend on the thickness of the adapter plate you are installing - you can calculate the minimum by adding 0.25" depth + thickness of the adapter plate material = minimum length screw. If you are using longer screws you can add washers to adjust the screw depth to avoid it going too deep into the mount plate. 0.25" is fine, even though depth of the treaded portion is slightly less, as you can tighten one extra turn to get to 0.25" and it won't harm the board (and we add a layer of plastic underneath the nut to add a layer of protection). However, we do recommend the type of screws shown in this video as the best solution. For an action camera we'd recommend purchasing an after market camera mount with 3M VHB super strong backing adhesive and add that at the nose of the board in front of the EVA pad.

  • @AB-bu8ti
    @AB-bu8ti21 күн бұрын

    @@Islesurfboards Thanks. Good to know there's a plastic stop at the bottom. Further measuring shows that the 1/4-20 threads are recessed about 0.175"-0.20" so I'm still worried about your recommendation that 0.25" screw length is enough. That would mean you might only be getting 0.05" of thread engagement. But I appreciate the quick replies.

  • @Islesurfboards
    @Islesurfboards18 күн бұрын

    @@AB-bu8ti sorry if not clear. We didn't recommend 0.25" length screw - "you can calculate minimum by adding 0.25" depth + thickness of the adapter plate material" - so minimum is likely 0.5" screw.

    If you had a puncture bad enough in the tube that the baffle shot to the other side as it’s designed, is that repairable? Can you get it back to center on your own or does it have to be sent back? I can repair a puncture, but can I get the baffle back in place? Love this design and I’m very interested.

  • @Islesurfboards
    @Islesurfboards20 күн бұрын

    The baffle "floats" in between the two air chambers, you wouldn't have to do anything to put it back in place as it's just floating there, if that makes sense. It's the "wall" between the two chambers, just not a flat piece of material, instead cone shaped.

    Our InfinityFiber material on the transom is incredibly strong. It's the reason we can have a 3" thick dropstitch floor and it remains rigid even under the torque/weight of the motors. We've stood on the motor mount adapter plate that extends off the back of the transom and at 160lbs it doesn't even bend.

    Looks great. I’d love to see two options- thicker pvc to protect from fish fins and sharp objects and an option for bow mounting an anchor or anchor pole.

  • @Islesurfboards
    @Islesurfboards20 күн бұрын

    We use a 0.9mm PVC in the pontoons, plus the 1.1mm PVC non-skid on the sides and bottom of pontoons, and we then add the layer of InfinityFiber on the bottom of pontoons as well, where it could hit something while under power. Our inflatable paddleboards use 0.7mm PVC, so it's more heavy duty than those and it's extremely rare for them to be punctured. From our experience fish hooks don't really stick into the inflatables very easily - they kinda bounce off it because of the angle of the hook - you definitely could get it to stick in, but it's not something we've experienced. If it does, it's usually very superficial (unless you yanked on the rod) and doesn't penetrate.
