Man my heart goes out to all the retired servicemen and women, for your services to others namely our country New Zealand much love, may you all find balance of self. This podcast is the best thing for me right now that I needed, thank you P.s. I remember watching the New Zealand SAS Who Dares Wins documentary and the interviewee was the boss being interviewed throughout the program
That boy of Willie’s is so so tall❤️
So you just go to war, follow orders to faark up some other country, no ability to think for YOURSELF, whether what your doing is right or wrong? Hoki Mai my Maori Puppet!
Great podcast Joe. Related to so much of that. Respect to Mr Bestic. I agree he should write a book. Glad I came across this. I intend to watch more. When you break your unit motto down it takes on more meaning as you both have shown. Ours was Fortes Fortuna Juvat which is also speaks volumes. Take care.
Thanks for sharing your experiences brothers
Awesome thank you for your experience and honesty. Onward / Ubique.
Thank you Bill Bestic. Real true Outlook on your life experiences. I feel for yourself and family and wish you all the best in the future. Onward / Ubique . Thank you for your service.
2 truly epic guys, huge achievements throughout your careers, so humble to give back, the army has so many old dickheads with zero life skills that hang around and powertrip, zero compat experience… imagine cleaning out the top ranks and getting the SAS to run the battalions!
thanks for your service ... i appreciate your podcast ,and sharing your truth... proud to be a kiwi of maori descent and more so when i see the kiwis in tier one units and then to see the human side of our best operators...ka nui te mihi kia koe .carry on cuz x

Kia ora Hoki, I hope your cancer is under control! Thanks for all the support you gave us "blue berets" that made up half of Alpha company over 85/86 mate, especially being an awesome section 2IC mate, regards Rik
Awsome video bro thank you for sharing 👍👍
Great interview from Joe and Anthony.
Malo Willie! I knew it was you in the Farmers Pukekohe when I seen you😂 You know a Man’s, Man when you see one. This fellar the real deal, even the G’s respect Willie Apiata. Malo Toko🫡💯
His dad was our CO at 1RNZIR in Singapore
I remember Phil ( Hoki ) in Alpha coy 1RNZIR Singapore 81/83 I went to tankies he did selection and went to SAS great bloke done know whether one Major Keay is still alive I bet we got fond memories
Hey Pup I was only joining 2/1 in 98 and knew of you until you left the Bn. Your words with Joe were amazing! Thanks for telling your story it means alot to me bro, and alot of what you said resonate with in some of your operational deployments.
On another note Pup I've taken you're advice and have contacted veterans affairs to start the ball rolling. Thanks for recommending to do this.
Loved this. Thank you gentleman. Slightly inspired to be better
This is the 2nd time I've watched this interview. Great for me to listen to both of these blokes and have and understanding of both what we have and the tips on how to improve ourselves.
Awesome kōrero🤝🏾
Awesome interview, thank you for your service's ✊
Is Willi pissed? Not judging, just wondering lol.
It’s a travesty there aren’t more views and subscribers. Great work.
Great to see that old photo of our section from Basic 166.
I served in 1RNZIR ,when your Father was CO. He was well respected,a great commander and leader of Men.Onward.
😂😂😂 Greg Godzee 😂😂😂
I keep in contact with him regularly dusty
😂😂😂 Phil was one of our Instructors on our Basic Static Line Cse 1995 for POE Coy or A Coy 2/1 RNZIR 🎉
Did a Sniping Cse as a Captain 😂😂😂 I don’t think so 😂😂😂
Brigadier Bestic ❤ his dad ?
If you are known and served with people in the unit that goes a long way as well and that can be a good thing or a bad thing 🔥
I hated Mark Moldens guts in Battalion he told me once to get down and give him 25 pressups for some bs infraction in front of the whole Coy so I got on my knees and opened my mouth and everyone cracked up laughing and the prick punched me in the face 😂 just as the OC walked around the corner 😂😂😂 got called into the office and i Fkn covered for the a hole he would have lost his stripe otherwise so I took that one on my own shoulders He passed selection a few years later 😂😂😂
I served in 2/1 RNZIR in Support Coy Mortar Plt the same time as Pup was in Recon Plt I did my Selection in 97 and failed miserably 😂😂😂
Life experience thou, Fella 😎👍
I loved this. The insights on how to engage with teams outside of the military are relevant to people who have not been in the military too. I remember a peer telling me you catch more with honey than vinegar and not understand what she was saying. I wish I had followed up with her to understand what she meant. It would have saved me many cycles of pain.
Great interview. Thankyou! I got a lot from this....great guy. Cheers
Greg " Pup " Johnson : I Want To Personally Thank You For Your NZDF Military Service As A Tier One NZSAS Operator Extraordinare. As An Honorably Discharged Regular Component United States Marine Corps (USMC) Infantry Rifleman ( MOS 0311) and Reconnaissance Marine ( MOS 0321), I Recognize That The NZSAS Is Indeed " The First Among Equals " And Your NZDF Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Special Operations Forces ( SOF) Operators Are The Proverbial Tip of The NZDF Spear. We Americans Are Proud of Everything You've Done As Both Countries Share A Common Bond That Goes All The Way Back To The Pacific Campaign Of WW2, To Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq, Respectively. Thank You For Sharing Your Story And You're Always Welcome Here In My Home In The United States of America. God Bless You and The NZSAS. Semper Fidelis, Spiritus Invictus, Brother.
Thank you for that. Our SAS are well trained but they don't have the gear that overseas operators do, i.e., (USA) thanks for this NZ KIWI

One of the best podcast regarding the SF mindset. Two high achieving individuals. Absolutely motivating stuff and a variety of important topics covered including mental health. Joe a couple of names that come to mind for you to interview would be Gary ‘Slash’ Brandon and Neville Radford. Love your channel bro, keep up the good work. Onward
