My channel reflects what activity interests me at the time. Currently, I'm into hammock camping, camping with my cat, and making camping gear.
In the past I've been into running, raising money for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, and testing out a 21 day cleanse.
Who knows what will next interest me?

Thanks for the video! 2025 will be our first Hangcon and we cannot wait! Thanks for giving us an idea of what to expect.
Wonderful! I'm still deciding on if I'll be there.
i can remember exactly THAT machine in an austrian indoor swimming pool locality from the 80s Man ... this video gave me flashbacks from when i was 6 years old i totally forgotten Even recognized the "Corn Cob Face Branding" never ever again i saw that machine anywhere else again That nostalgia flash made my day - thank you
You are welcome! Isn't it funny how sounds and songs can bring back memories?!?
@@KarlaWithAKTime ABSOLUTELY ... it was just by random that i found this video and i saw the "Corncob Faces" and thought... humm... i know that from somewhere As the music hit i knew exactly where i saw and heard that because i was so excited back then as a lil kid - it literally "burned" into my brain ^^ Thanks again - and thanks for hearting and commenting :D
Update: new grills now! :)
YEAH!!!!!! That old grill needed to go!
Going tomorrow
Hope your stay is as mosquito free as mine was
good video!!
Thank you!
Another video was offered by YT this morning and I went to the website toot sweet and bought one.
Hope you like it! Let me know your thoughts.
Do they make a taller version for baking bread?
I went to their website and only saw pizza ovens. ooni.com/collections/shop-all
Hi Karla! Where were you for the eclipse?
Central Ohio.
Cool video. My niece was in Indiana & loved it. We had clouds & it just got overcast a little.
Totality is worth the drive
I’ve been waiting for a new post. I’d love to meet you at a hammock camping forum. Are you doing the frozen butt in Wi. again in Jan? I’m hoping to hike the AT next yr.
Good to see you doing some traveling.
What up C-squared?!
Oh no 😱 that stinks! Not much surprise though, based on how the Amok demo was botched at Hangcon. Sad! 😢(for the brand)
How was it botched?
The gentleman who did the demo was a volunteer (from Denmark I think?) and they had sent him a mismatched set (hammock vs pad); in addition to the mismatched demo set, the volunteer hung it backwards, making it impossible to get a good lay in it, due to the head end actually having been the foot end. I hope that makes sense and you can picture it.
Yes that makes sense. That set IS THE set I won. So, I have that mis-matched Amok.
:(
Hey, I reached out to Amok and they have a replacement in the mail to me! @@SabinaHP
Nice job Karla; thanks for sharing. How do you like the Amok that you won at Hangcon? That was you, wasn’t it?
I'm waiting for Amok to send the correct pad. Haven't been able to use it yet. :(
Had to get myself a Camper model on the KickStarter launch. I am really looking forward to trying it with all of my different hammocks and the chair hammock I ordered as well. Thanks for the video.
I bought in to the Kickstarter too!
Hello Karla. Very fine video. Thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching.
You are a precious adorable gem, Suzie. Im so glad you were able to make it down to HangCon 2024. Remember, next year you come down as family so if you do forget something, you just enjoy what we offer you without hesitation. I like your idea of a HangCon bucket list.... Maybe we'll make a HangCon Bingo Card for you. About the fires, you're right. I make them progressively larger every night to build on the previous night's fire. See you next year, floridahanger.
Awwh, Thank you FloridaHanger. I definitely felt the family love as a first time delegate!
Wow such drama ! You were completely unprepared … from time zones to food .. never go anywhere where your meals for all days , as you could have had in your Walmart Order .. Always be prepared , don’t be needy and depend on other resources … Take Care Can always take large containers on planes ( like golf clubs - for supplies)
Ouch
Thanks Karla! I'm new to hammock camping and really wanted to go to Hangcon this year but it just wasn't in the cards. Hopefully I can make it next year. Your video is invaluable! Hope to run to into you and thank you in person. SUBSCRIBED!
Woo-hoo! Thanks for subscribing!
Do people in Ohio commonly have crawfish boils? I thought it was only a Southern thing.
NOT a common thing. The guy brought it up from LA.
I live in Ms. but have a stepdaughter & her daughter & sil that live in WI. I’m really wanting to explore this states hiking areas like the ice age trail & your frozen butt hang. Meet you, the marine & Shug. Thanks for all these videos.
You should come to BACONFEST in May!
I really want to do the AT then this one.
Love cows
So pretty
Oh my!
It was SO much fun!
Your happiness & laughter just makes me happy.
I laugh when I cry, when I'm happy, nervous, etc. Glad to spread joy to you.
Thanks for sharing.
Just watched your video on your 1st time @HangCon. Hope you had a blast. Loved your info for newbies-we all started that way. Hope you got a chance to try out your new Amok hammock you won from the raffle- I was the guy that gave you some jewjew of mine lol. Really enjoyed your experience and excitement. We camp out in the primitive area each year. Find that being exposed in the “regular “ campground is cold and being in the woods helps take those cold winds out of the equation and makes sleeping /staying warmer a lil easier. We’re heading to Covington,Ohio this Thursday so I can try and dial in my coldness scale while hammock Kamping and see how cold I can get with what I have. We’re driving from FL so it’ll be interesting to see how I do. Once again pleasure meeting you and hope you return next year. We go every year. Next year will be 5th year
Maybe the shelters not finished.? A loft might be added & hooks later
Hmmmm, maybe. I know the shelter has been up for a while. I hope it's not finished.
Nice site! Wish there were hammock trees. But worth a tent stay just for the log cabin thing.
Yeah, what do you even call that thing?
I’m laughing w/ you because I can see me doing this & getting emotional over my mistake. Love the GreenBay hat! Bret Farve grew up 30 min from where I live & he still lives in our college town about an hr away. I also have a stepdaughter & her family in WI. Hope to go to both your frozen butt hang & this hang con one day.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!
Hi Karla! Just found your channel and I love it! We are so much alike - like how you couldn't stop laughing when you figured out you missed breakfast due to your phone still being on central time! I live in Florida, and you are so right about our January weather. That damp cold goes right through your bones. I grew up in Northern IL and always loved watching it snow - so magical! I can't wait to watch more of your videos and see what you are up to. 😊
Awwww, thank you for the kind words. I can't guarantee each trip will have such epic screw-ups!
🤣
Karla with a K, wonderful video showing a good group of hammock stands. David Hughes aka Phantom Grappler going to HangCon vicariously through your videos. Thank you
Have you ever been to a Hangcon?
Hahah. I had a similar experience. Ted pop in my hydration pack. By the time i got off the trail and to the gas station it had created enough gas to explode. Lol unfortunately it stained the counter at the drink Station
Whoa! Never thought about this happening in hydration packs!
@@KarlaWithAKTime i have no idea why i thought that was a good idea lol
Carbonated soft drinks = pop. A small, flowing watershed = crick. First of all, thank you for using language that I as a Pennsylvanian can understand. LOL. Very nicely done video. I would love to attend an event like this but me and Florida are like oil and water. Last time I was there was in 1990 and I swore I’d never go back. Thanks for showing everything that goes on there so thoroughly. I’m usually a day hiking, watch the fire burn kind of guy but if I’m around other people with a shared interest, I have no problem staying entertained. We have a group hang coming up in Pennsylvania in April. I’m going to try and make that one. Otherwise, it’s just me, my backpack and a hammock. Thanks again !!
YES! Go to the hang. You never know if you might meet some new camping buddies. I love conversations around the campfire!
Sunday night I was late and to dinner and got a scoop of cobbler and I was expecting chilli.
IMO, desserts are always better than the main dish.
Karla I do keto fasting and try to advoid desserts, however I enjoyed everything I tried. This was my second Hangcon and love it and I really apprieate your video and recomend it to any first timers.@@KarlaWithAKTime
@@jongroover3606 oh no, well then dessert as a main dish it's great. Yikes. And thank you for the kind words!
36:00 that's me! Why you creepin on me?
Are you the one with your back to my Aldi bag?
That's meeeeeee
@@MaxAlanFuchs Well, next time you are in line, turn around and it might be me!
Hey Karla. Enjoyed meeting you at HangCon! It was fun sitting around the fire talking. Hope to see you again. Bob and George
Bob!!! You made my video!!! And I just subscribed to your channel too.
And a Mighty Fine Good Morning to you Karla withak. Sincerely, The Mayor.
Did you laugh at my video? And yes, I'm not a morning person!
@@KarlaWithAKTime I did laugh. Thought nothing more about our initial interaction. No worries. See you at John’s Hang.
I slept in a cricket and it was awesome
I'm actually glad rain was scheduled so you got to have that experience!
I was looking for a lightweight hammock stand that is a near instant up/down that doesn't need any tools. I'm not a hammock camper. I just like napping in them and there's no always convenient trees nearby 😅
Looks like the new YOBO gear coming out this year will fit your bill.
Lovely lady lovely camping.😊
Thank you for the wonderful compliment
Hey Karla, thanks for doing this video, I hope it will help others that are coming for their first time. Thanks for the kind words about all of the meals too. Each year we always get a few messages from people complaining about the food or something else about the event. I guess even when it's a free event and you are not having to pay for the camping and both breakfast and dinner meals for 5 days, it's still not enough.. lol ~Skunkape~
As my dad would say, "They walk among us"
Thanks for coming down and vlogging about your experience. Hangcon staff hopes to see you next year!!
I had SUCH a great time. I really do hope to return.
Nice! Glad to see Yobo coming out with an affordable replacement to the Tato stand! I wasn't a fan of their Hive or Cricket because of the wires, but I'd like something more self-supporting than the Tensa Solo's I've been using.
Then you are gonna be HAPPY!!!
Also lovely lady and a great job 👍
Awwwh, thank you!
I agree about feeding people. Food truck or cook yourself 😊
I'm in awe of cooking for so many people. I just can't fathom the money and people power. Just wow.
@@KarlaWithAKTime there is a few thousand that we put into the food for all of the meals. As far as the people power for cooking all of those meals, there is Travis, our chef, and his kitchen crew, Jake, Jane, and Heather, that do all of the prep and cooking.
@@hangcon3036 I love ALL of them on that kitchen crew. Rock Stars.
Just starting to watch this now...thanks for putting this together for us all to watch and enjoy!
Hi Kory!
Next time I need to do an entire video on your hammocks.
@@KarlaWithAKTime Ha! I did want to say how I appreciate you being very real and open about your experience at HangCon and didn't sugar-coat it. :) WHile watching it, I will say that I GLADLY would've offered you more food for breakfast, even good coffee and pancakes! The only thing I didn't have for you was bacon...which, truely, IS a shame...
Nice review. I am backpacker that hammocks would love seeing vendors but don’t know if I could stay entertained for multiple days.
There's so many people to meet and set ups to see. To me, being entertained is up to each person.
There are things to do all weekend. Usually some organized a day hike or a bike trek or a kayak trip or some other engaging activity. The vibe is very chill! One group was playing a very fun looking game of bocci ball.
@@mrbiomoetn Oh man, I LOVE bocce ball. I missed it.
As an Atlantan, you're not missing anything on the grits. Gross.
Good to know!!!
