Simi chrome polish will out clean any other brass cleaner. Easier to use too!

what are the big square tank like things on the side of the engine? What is the lever to the center vs one by the engineer? i live in the USA and ours do not have those

The "big square tank like things" are water tanks. The lever is the reverser or "cut off" which controls forward and reverse and for how much of the stroke steam is applied to the pistons. Full length application when setting off but reduced as momentum is built for greater efficiency. It's effectively like gears in a car.

Very nice video, I have just been re-reading the book ‘Macleod’s other island’ about my great Uncle’s time between the wars in charge of the islands railways so perfect timing to see this. So good to see all the four wheelers and Calthorpe of course with the extended bunkers which Uncle A ( Mac to everybody else) was involved with fitting.
