    There are quite a few of you that don’t quite understand the limitations of this device. They truly are amazing, however, they don’t come close to replicating normal sounds waves. The digital processing makes for a robotic tone that can be extremely distracting and off-putting. There are no warm nuanced tones, just brittle, computerized, unpleasant sounding notes. It’s awesome that she can hear, but it’s not anywhere near what so many of you believe it is.

    How do I understand what she's saying and the woman just doesn't, and she's asking questions that the girl can't possibly describe

    Wow. That last sample towards the end of the video that she said was it sounded almost impossible to discern the words. I guess I had hoped a cochlear implant would be more clear than that.

    Now, if only they could develop something similar for blind people. Of course, turning light waves into electrical signals with an electric eye implant might be just a tad harder.,

    Holy…I think all sensory compensating aids are miraculous, but I’m a tad shocked by her CI ENHANCEMENT being nearly the same as my COMPROMISED hearing necessitating an aid - has this tech improved much in the 9yrs since this video?

    Your brain, oddly enough, has to get used to new things. Watch the video where people were going around with upside down goggles experiment. It's hilarious, but eventually they can do it. It's crazy to think about.

    I was wondering if this would be better suited together with an audio engeneer, the way she's trying to describe the sounds and the person next to her not being able to tell what she's hinting at, looks like you could use a "sound language" translator who could interpret and tell what he thinks is being said, but that's just an idea

    My dad's stepdad and my grandfather was born partially deaf in his right ear and fully deaf in his left (I think, I don't know the specifics but thats what I remember being told.), I've always wondered what his hearing aids sound like to him. His name is Grandpa John and he's really awesome, we visited him this summer with our puppy and he LOVES her, it was really nice, she ate his doorframe. My uncle hosted a party at his house and he lost his hearing aid in the paper towel cardboard tube *while* it was on the stand, couldnt find it for days, he found it right before the party. Also, went out to eat while he stayed back at the house with the dog, he fell asleep on the couch watching tv with her after doing some stuff around the house. We got locked out and my dad had to climb the roof and go in through the window to get back in. He'd lost his hearing aid again and I was the only one that could hear it ringing, I went into the room I was staying in and moved my blanket and got jumpscared by it. My mom always finds it impressive how well he can read lips, hes around 60-70 and didn't have hearing aids as a kid. I can only imagine how difficult life must of been until he'd finally purchased hearing aids.

    If she has normal hearing in one ear, what is the benefit to a cochlear implant if the sound quality is so poor? Instead of just hearing quality sound in one ear, wouldn't the implant mix with it and cause an overall poor quality sound? Just curious.

  • @l00kns33
    @l00kns336 ай бұрын

    First and foremost ”stereo hearing”. Without it you can’t locate things by ear and you have a hard time hearing when people speak to you on your deaf ear. Also, the brain is amazing at compensating things so the total sound quality may actually not be too bad.

    brain's hearing is so complicated. CI helps you about brain hearing. CI is connected with normal hearing ear, and trading sound waves each other. She's the lucky one because one ear is really good and CI works for her well.
