    Right on! Been waiting for a video like this.. I recently ordered a 2.75” RCLT kit for my 2020 sr5, and I’m already in the process of installing a Tacobox with the 4.7:1 inchworm gear ⚙️. Looking forward to crawling around Alaska with it!

    That's awesome! I have a TacoBox sitting in my garage, just need to source an FJ case then install it. Hopefully in Dec. After watching Mike's truck work, I had to have that low gearing. Even the green 4Runner with the Atlas 5:1 was a massive improvement over the stock 2.7:1 I hope to make it up to Alaska one day, it looks unreal.

    @rockmanagementoffroad9462 Жыл бұрын

    Haha yea it took a lot of tubbing and cutting of the wheel wells to make the 37s functional. For the 315s I had to do an aggressive body mount chop, hammered the pinch weld flat, removed the inner fender liner, cut some of the fender and metal under it behind the wheel, had alignment set for max positive caster. And it still rubbed above the tire on hard impacts (desert), but was good for crawling.

    The solution to the problem is very simple.. In the camshaft for the exhaust, there are two gears attached to each other and there is a spring between them. The spring must be tight and secured after tightening with a screw to keep it tight.. In the event that the spring is not tightened, by turning the first gear against the other It will make a clicking sound like a diesel vehicle. Important don't forget to remove the tightening screw after installing the camshaft it in place

    I know you already blew the motor but anytime something like this happens, you have to start a reasonable process of elimination. Remove the belt and run it for a few minutes. If the noise is still there, its not in the drive belt which eliminates AC compressor, PS pump, air pump, etc.. Unplug the coils one at a time. If the plug cannot spark, you dont have a power stroke on that cyl. This could narrow it down to a single cyl...Then you can do things like compression tests, leak down tests, etc. Could be carbon knock but to me, sounded like a wrist pin. To test for play on the bottom end, rev the engine, drop the throttle, as the RPMs fall, ease back on the throttle. When the dropping engine RPM meets the rising throttle you will have a second or two of neutral pressure which will make any play in a rod rattle like hell for 1-2 seconds.

  • @gsxrsquid
    @gsxrsquid2 жыл бұрын

    At harbor freight you can by a super long screwdriver. Use it as a stethoscope and touch it to different parts of the engine to see where the noise is loudest. Use it against he block and heads. Also determine if the noise is at engine speed or valve train speed. Engine speed is once every revolution of the crank. Valve train speed is half that. It is hard to tell from the video but it sounds like it is engine speed.
